Voyage will be pretty decent - but the real star of next year will be Avatar!

Avatar is not a star... maybe the star of NU, but not on the 2006 Headlines...

Voyage looks good - but I will laugh if it ends up being highly overrated... laugh.gif

Construction doth continue... user posted image

The swoop after the station drop tunnel is structural now!!

See!? There were 2 different rendering at that point, I am so excited that they went with the upward swoop rather than the downward.

all that is left is the north complex and the area near the rapids ride. then all tracking, this is actually behind schedule, but Holiday World has been know to shake a leg in time of need.

Looks great. Do you by any chance have a picture of this swoop?

::sigh::

Look to the bottom of the picture it is in front of the station, coming at you, the track is now on 3 sides of the station... the brake side, the lift side, and the tunnel area.

Okay, those renderings, look at the airtime chart, the swoop rides over the transfer area, and in other renderings including the "tunnels" picture, it goes under it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Now the final turn for Voyage, including the last tunnel is complete, the remaining missing structural areas include the neck between the station and lift, simply to get to Bahari River as it is being dug and constructed at this time. The land in Thanksgiving is being built up, this will lay the groundwork for the Gobbler Getaway, which has some finalized artwork...

Care to see?

I think the colors are a bit "trippy" but its not like I hadn't seen them before... SDATHC, SDATSS

This one is without the "make-up"

This is more like it, she encourages good behavior while explaining the rules to the kids and adults.

Again, Trippy Colors... but a cheesy name to a town... lol

Get ready, the station is taking shape!

The north turnaround portion is being strucurally built now, that and the buildings such as the Gobbler Getaway, and Plymouth Rock Cafe are now in the initial stages of being built.

the Station is now finally taking its shape...

I believe there is some ventalation equipmet installed already, as arethe trusses for the roof, the roof will cover the Voyage Station soon. maybe as soon as a week, or even a few days!

Look!

Any idea if they are just building the structure, or have they started installing the electrical stuff (like proximity sensors and limit switches and photo eyes and the motor)? And have they installed the lift chain or brakes yet? Or even put the running rails on the track?

only basic stuff is in, the most complex I think is maybe the vents on the station already.

How are you getting these photos?

Much like Nemo, I am also a Pilot--

No

these pictures are from Holiday World's website, if you do not link them properly, by rehosting them, then you cannot see the progress as I show, Nemo posted one long ago and it refreshes with the camera.

The higher quality shots are the ones I get when I visit Santa Claus.

and if you are referring to the stuff for the dark ride, they are directly from the holiblog.

Much like Nemo, I am also a Pilot--

Yup, thats where these pics come from. Sometimes Legend Rider and I go up in the airplane!!!

No not really. lol.

Anyway, the station is looking very cool. I'm just wondering, Could this rollercoaster run with plane wooden supports?

Im sure it could, but it wouldnt be as smooth, as its design is for steel structure. this intention of the design is for a rigid structure, the wood would cause more sway, the designs are actually very different, so if the wood on legend were replaced with steel, then the ride would suck because the ride would not shift as it is intended, it all has to do with the intention. there is a fair balance of rigid and nonrigid portions to a wooden coaster, with voyage, there are more rigid pieces.

Not sure how plane wood supports would work - but yeah like L*R said - plain wooden supports aren't a good idea for it. If you have been on Legend - one cool thing is in the queue line. It gets about 18 inches from a support, and when the train flies by, it bends and shifts toward the queue about 6 inches. You can put your hand on it and feel it. Voyage is way more intense, with higher banking than Legend. It would tear a wood supported track apart.

Oh and to settle any disputes - Voyage is a wood coaster. It is not a steel coaster. Coasters are determined by what their track is. It could be on plastic supports - it would still be a wood coaster.

...getting ready to order the flags that will fly up above the top of the lifthill!

Will there be six of them?

The Interpreter, running for his room....

roughly 24 i think, there are about that many on Legend, then again, it wont be as long as legend's predrop.

So much for....

Wait for it....

Six Flags Over Voyage!

(Note there are Six Flags over Coney Mall at Paramount's Kings Island!)

Man that looks so cool! I can't wait to ride it!

Now which will be better? Rumbler or Voyage? laugh.gif

Could this rollercoaster run with plane wooden supports?

Does anyone think that SOB would have run better if had all steel supports? I know it could be done just cost alot to rebuilt it better.

It could use steel supports, spine and ties. Set the whole ride up like the loop.

Well it would still be a wood coaster if it was wood track. Now what would it be if you used a wood type track made out of some kind of composite?

Theres two holi water towers? That is a cool overview of the park. I am more interested with the rest of it than that new crap at the top though. laugh.giflaugh.gif

lol, I bet you could do that

make a wooden coaster... with NO WOOD at all!

If you guys thought like Ray Nagin, you could make a rollercoaster out of chocolate!
