RailRider
Ok if Avatar is going to be a flat spinning wanna be coaster and it isnt going to be a DiskO, then what is it? If you say it isnt one thing, then give a description of what you think it will be. I think I can answer what it will be. Answer: its a DiskO with a hump in the middle of the track instead of the standard half pipe layout.
TheKlockster
There is also a Disk'O like coaster that is made by Intamin called a Half-Pipe coaster - but it looks too big to be a family coaster. What I am wondering is - can children 44 inches ride a Disk'O - with or without a hump? Because this new coaster is going to have to have a 44 or maybe even 36 inch requirement. Okay then First off a DiskO would be too big and intense for little kids Secondly the only reason why people think its a diskO is because Jeff said that its similar to the picture on coasterbuzz. can children 44 inches ride a Disk'O - with or without a hump? Because this new coaster is going to have to have a 44 or maybe even 36 inch requirement. Remember these words of the great klockster! TheKlockster
LOL Thanks I mean - it is common sense. Ghoster Coaster had a 36 inch height requirement. They aren't going to tear that down, and put in something with a 48 or 54 inch requirement. It is going to - AT MOST - have a 44 inch height requirement. However IJST is considered a family coaster and is 48 inches.
TheKlockster
And IJST isn't in kiddie land. That is why I think it won't be a Disk'O. That and the idea that the Disk'O looks REALLY st00pid.

However IJST is considered a family coaster and is 48 inches. I think you guys are missing the point of the "family coaster" concept. It's not so much a ride that elderly people and kids in strollers can ride, but rather a ride that can be enjoyed by both younger kids and adults. Therefore it's built on neutral ground. It's not too tall, not too fast, and doesn't have inversions.
TheKlockster
But what I am saying is you aren't going to find a ride in kiddie land that kids can't ride! Even 44 inches is a pretty discriminatory height requirement. A great number of kids do get turned away at Reptars greeter.
RailRider
Yes, but there is also a lack of rides at PKI for kids that are to tall to ride the kiddie flats, but are too scared to ride the more thrilling coasters. Thats why PKI built IJ:ST and that is why we will see a DiskO or something like it. Hitting that target market of Tweeners. Makes perfect sense that a DiskO will go in, because it is another ride that bridges that gap for the Tweeners and their parents.
CoastersRZ
While IJST may be geared towards tweeners, its hieght limit of 48" to ride puts it in the same height as some of PKI`s other big roller coasters, The Beast, Son of Beast, and Vortex among others.
RailRider
Yes but I can show you a lot of Tweeners that are able to ride almost every ride at PKI, but want nothing to do with them because well they are Tweeners. Thats why IJ:ST is a perfect fit for them. I have 2 nephews and a niece who are all tweeners and want nothing to do with The Vortex, beast, or racer, but absolutely loved IJ:ST. Thats why I think something like a DiskO is a good fit for Tweeners, but still I say it is a bad anchor ride for NU.

VortexQueen
no offense, i swear i love the park, but what they are doing lately is just "off track", speaking not speciffically.. yet, i am all cool with the indoor water park thing that is going on, but this NC stuff and the new rollercoaster(IJST) is just "loopy". i my thoughts i refuse to go to kiddy lland and near IJST. love the park but the new additions are going to be interesting, especcially with the Coaster Convention coming soon. dont get me wrong, i am still going to be there everyday of the summer and all, but dont see me near that orange and green, unless i am watching the nickelodeon parade, i like that. XD srry to burst anybodys bubbles.. i think. but no offense. i think i care for the park to much. Edit: i am just getting confussed by it all. It seems as though you are too old for the targeted demographic for NU anyway. Most people on these forums (with the exception of those who would accompany kids) really are. Almost every year they've done a family-style expansion, it has been a good year for the park. You may think it's lame, but the kids will probably love it, and that's all that's important this year. As far as IJ goes, a lot of enthusiasts were a little disappointed due to the fact that the video portrayed a couple of things that never made the final cut. i.e. Bouncing down the stairs and a more massive warehouse scene. You hve to bear in mind that only a small fraction of the patrons who rode IJ actually saw the video and expected more. From what I understand, the ride had an excellent reaction, at least during the first few weeks.
deidre1976
As a mom of 3 kids ages 13, 8, and 6, It will be a nice change. I am really looking forward to the south pie with no dead ends. I am excited about having my 13 year old riding with her family..........maybe she might hang out with the family instead of spending all my money on DDR. BoddaH1994
maybe she might hang out with the family instead of spending all my money on DDR. WOW... Somebody from their aimed demographic is actually speaking up! Once again, but this year's expansion is for someone like deidre1976 and her kids, rather than a 16 or 17 year old thrill seeker. Your daughter should play air hockey instead. One time I was in one of those moods and played for over 6 hours... challenging random people as they passed through in Coney. RingMaster
I'm a 16-17 year old thrill seeker, but I'm more hyped up over NU than I was with IJ:ST. go me. Now, on Avatar....... I did some research on the whole "it being a Disko" rumor and, frankly, I can't very well see this as the anchor ride for NU, let alone A ride for Universe to begin with. Seems too intense to be paired with a series of smaller attractions. So then I heard about the rumor that Mack Rides had signed a deal with Paramount and checked out their site for some more info on it.....I didnt get any info on the deal...... ...but I DID manage to find some rides that look A LOT similar to what this Avatar "coaster" could possibly be (along with a possible ride or two for the Blue Jump-A-Long): Avatar Concept #1 Avatar Concept #2/Blue Jump-Around Concept #1 Blue Jump-Around Concept #2 And here's something for fans of the Crash Course Boating School idea: Crash Course as a stand-alone dark ride with spinny car thingys.... OR Crash Course as a powered coaster with spinny car thingys IN a dark ride environment? The Choice is yours.......

That looks like a ride you can find at your local fair. And your crash course Boating idea looks to much like SDATHC as it is. Not to say when the SD program expires, they wont gut that thing and put a SBSP ride in its place. Just a thought!

And your crash course Boating idea looks to much like SDATHC as it is. Not to say when the SD program expires, they wont gut that thing and put a SBSP ride in its place. Just a thought! Just because a ride LOOKS like it should be part of a local fair doesn't mean that it can't be a good ride for NU. Adding a few "new-school" flat rides is what tons of people have been asking for in a Coney Mall expansion-type thingy. So if Avatar is indeed a ride type like these Mack Rides, then we can expect two flat ride experiences for the whole family (Avatar and Phantom Flyers). As for Crash Course Boating School........ .....Imagine a shorter, smaller Adventure Express that's 3/4 outdoors and 1/4 indoors. Now, remove the jungle/Indiana Jones-rip-off theme and put in Bikini Bottom as the backdrop. Replace the "runaway" trains with six-man "Boatmobiles" capable of spinning and fishtailing (a'la IJ:ST), either free-form or computer-controlled. Finally, add some onboard audio, cool animatronic SpongeBob SquarePants characters, nice lighting effects and scenery (but no cardboard cut-outs please), and you have Crash Course Boating School. ...But don't forget to have at least 18-20 Boatmobiles in two stations to handle the large crowds and not be considered a "low-capacity" ride. That would be my interpretation of the ride. And just because Mack's pics look similar to SDATHC doesn't mean it'll look EXACTLY like the Haunted Castle if/when it's built. You just gotta look at things a bit differently than what's displayed.
Scooby_Doo
This reminds of Flying Dutchman Revenge Boatride at Carowinds. But Iam loving your ideas Ringmaster.. but the crashcourse ideas do seem alot like Sdathc & PT. I was told that Crash Course would be like the Cat in the Hat ride at IOA...Your first choice was perfect for avatar I always wished PKI would add in a ride like that. Now that you mention it, I can definitely see a ride like Cat in the Hat being placed in NU as Crash Course. D'oh! ...But I can only hope that Kings Island is smart enough to install it here THIS year and not at Great America. Legend Rider
They removed it because there is a lot of speculation on more important sites like Coasterbuzz and Thrillnetwork that Avatar will not be a coaster, but a coaster-like flat ride - most likely a Zamprela Disk'o. Someone did some brainstorming, and figured out that it could be possible that every new ride Nick Universe is getting will be Zamprela - part of a Zamprela package. Only time will tell. Personally I think it will be added back to the list, when we find out that it is indeed a coaster. someone do some punching for me, its not Zamprela, Zamperla... dang... LOL, no harm...
