ragerunner
PKI has posted some construction photos for NU. http://www.pki.com/News/photo_gallery.cfm?item_id=282 First, it does appear that the Green Slime Maze is staying and will just be changes to a water walk through SpongBob attraction and remain outdoors. (This is disappointing) Second, the Nick Theater is also still standing. Does anyone think they will just keep using this as a meet and greet area or add a show. Third, what about them enclosing the theater and using it as part of the spongbob underwater world area. i.e. enclosed play area or the spongbob ride? (I can hope) I am not giving up hope that they will surprise us with something, but the clock is ticking.
Gordon Bombay
^Yeah theres already a topic with links to the NU pics Kings Island provided, and just because the slime maze is still standing doesnt mean it is going to be part of a spongebob ride or that it is definently staying. Stop acting like you know every detail about the NU expansion.
flightoffear1996
Just because stuff is still standing doesn't mean its not leaving. Anyway I dont even care too much about the NU being buildt because I know I will never use the stuff.
ragerunner
CombatStupendous89 I not sure what I said in this post that made you think I thought I knew everything. Actually, 2 of the 3 are questions not statements.

RingMaster
.....Ok, so this hasn't been the first time there's been a miscalculation. (reminisces of that one time on Family Guy during a Back to the Future spoof where Marty's daughter marries a black man....and Doc is considered racist. )
PKI Punk
I noticed something interesting today while looking at the park map for PKI for 2006. If you look closely, you can see some new attractions on the map. The one that caught my attention was the Zamperla Disk O. Very interesting stuff. http://www2.paramountparks.com/kingsisland...it_park_map.cfm
CoastersRZ
Umm, this has been discussed before. New Nick Universe Attractions
DA RIPPER
WOW they wipe the kids area out, what area is schedule to be redone next year ? I know the park is on a 4 year cycle.
CoastersRZ
Um, they don`t really have a set schedule in which they redo areas. For example, Rivertown. Before Tomb Raider: The Ride opened in 2002, the last new addition to that area prior to 2002 was White Water Canyon in 1985.

Before Tomb Raider: The Ride opened in 2002, the last new addition to that area prior to 2002 was White Water Canyon in 1985. That's both true and not true. Of course, there is not set schedule as to what area will be receiving a new attraction or upgrade, but you can kind of read between the lines and make an educated guess. 2006: HBL 2005: Coney Mall 2004: Waterpark 2003: Action Zone 2002: Rivertown 2001: HBL/NC 2000: Action Zone 1999: Action Zone 1998: Waterworks 1997: Waterworks 1996: Coney Mall 1995: Nick Central (Splat City) 1994: Coney Mall 1993: Action Zone As you can see, there are a few double ups in there, but for the most part it seems as though they try to disburse crowds to different areas of the park each year. When it comes down to it, when an area's due, it's due. Personally, I'm guessing that We'll see another Coney Mall expansion in 2007. It seems as though the heart of Coney Mall hasn't seen a true upgrade in a very long time.

CoastersRZ
Yeah, they tend to spread the upgrades over time, But they don`t have a set schedule that says every x years they have to redo an area. And yes, I believe that the heart of Coney Mall is due for an update. Besides IJST, there has been no major changes to CM, besides FoF in 1996, and that barely impacted the heart of CM. You have to go back to 1986 to see the last major update to CM in the form of the Zeyphr, Dodgems and now defunct Skylab.
The Interpreter
Not to mention that by next year, "they" will probably be a different "they." OTOH, next year will probably be almost locked into stone before any change of ownership. . .
TheKlockster
Coney is due for an upgrade. IJST is kind of halfway between Rivertown. You can see it from Coney mall - but the entrance is in Rivertown, and the ride is operated by Rivertown. So if you count that as a Rivertown upgrade - then Coney hasn't had one for a while... Which could turn out to be another confirmation of tha dreadful rumor about Vortex... We wont know till all is said and done though. At least it will be a while before Nick is upgraded. Enchanted Voyager
Coney Mall could use something in the place of Flight Commader or around the right side of Action Theater. Because once you get back there it seems rather empty.

Skippy
***Update*** New photos are up on Paramount's Kings Island's official site: Click here for photo update. Now I don't know how long these have been up, as Maureen hid them in February's update, but they definitely show off the vibrant color that will be abundant in Nickelodoen Universe The photo update includes Jimmy Neutron's Atom Smasher, Nick-O-Round, Lazytown Sporticopters, and Backyardigans Swing-Along. This photo update has restored my faith in PKI The bright coloring on everything (yes, even colorful pathways) seems much more inviting and is sure to go well with the GP. It pains me to say this, but it's looking like next year Nickelodoen Universe will be much more alive then Hanna-Barbera Land ever was during it's Paramount years. Thanks for taking the time to give us this update Maureen!
CoastersRZ
Excellent find! Nice to see some vibrant colors! Although, I`m not sure I like the earth tone colors of the frame of the Nick-O-Round and the Sporticopters. I wonder how old those photos are? It will be nice to see the finished thing in about four weeks! Hard to believe opening day is less than a month away!
Skippy
^I agree, I'm not sold on the color choice made for Nick-O-Round or Lazytown Sporticopters, but you've got to admit, theme aside, that Backyardigans Swing-Along looks 100x better than it ever was as Pixie & Dixie's Swing Set Hopefully the kids will know what a Backyardigan is! CoastersRZ
Yeah. That ride looks really good with its new paint job. The reason I was asking how old those photos were is that orange color MIGHT have been simply a primer (although doubtful based on how dark it was). Skippy
Another thing I noticed is that they've completly painted over the cityscape, that used to be on the building wall behind Top Cat's Taxi Jam, to just a sky blue color Hopefully some details will be added later. Also, the station for Little Bill's Giggle Coaster is being painted white, in which I'm hopeful is some kind of primer setting up for details to be added later, or this Top Cat's retheme could end up being very bland. My guess is that they just got to themeing Little Bill's Giggle Coaster, as the Top Cat's Taxi Jam sign is still up, and that this is nothing to worry about
Gordon Bombay
LINK!Went to the park wendsday to get my ID made and quite a lot of avatar pieces were in the lot then I came back today to drop off some paperwork and most of it was gone as trucks were running back and forth to the park hauling pieces and a large crane could be seen in NU. I stopped at the park and ride to get some pictures and the day was s beautiful and clear plus with lack of leaves you could see a great deal of Vortex and even The Beast lift hill! Then while I killed time before I had to drive back to Fairfiled I went exploring the town of Kings Mills. I found Kings High School and noticed that you can see a lot of Son of Beast just from their parking lot and it looked awesome. I wish I could see the worlds tallest and fastes and only looping wooden coaster in the world out my classroom windows. Then while I was at the parking lot I notice the smoke stack and tower of the cartridge company and had to go find out. Heres some pictures I took today. PKIPoodle
yeah so they havent updated CM much... but too much of an update on the midway would make it lose its classic-ness which is the whole idea of CM...or was anyway, whether it is or not nowadays, i dunno. doesnt really seem to be....
