I find it interesting that they're keeping the Quick Draw's Railway entrance plaza thing. Does anyone know if that will just be an entrance to one of the new rides? You can tell they're making progress though; that circular ride platform thing looks new.

I would say the Quick draw's railway will become the Dora train ride. I would think they will redo the entrance, keep the same concrete layout for the track and add the show pics. (I hope they add a new train(s) to increase the capacity, those Quick draw trains have seen better days.)

Yeah, it's really hard picturing that area as it originally was, now that it's completely empty. Remember when it was a bunch of trees, shade, and tons of kiddy rides? Now it's just......one tree, and the rest is dirt.

....And let's all assume that they'll keep their promise on giving us more shaded areas for Universe. I don't think any of us would want it to resemble Action Zone, now would we? laugh.gif

No, we wouldn't but I think AZ is good how it is. How many backlots have trees and shaded areas?

....Well, how many Paramount Parks have backlots? tongue.gif

LoL... the parks don't have backlots, but movie studios do. In fact, Paramount Pictures has a backlot which they offer tours of. I think that was kind of the look they were going for. Regardless, being so open makes it feel a little more 'alive' than a quiet area with lots of trees.

Are they going to get all of the work done in just over 2 month's? It seems as if they have alot of work to complete before April 14th. But of course if you think about it they have even less then then April 14th to get this completed by. We shall see. But it's looking good though. Good job PKI for keeping us updated. Now if only they would update the new for 2006 page on pki.com.

The site work (infrastructure) is going to be the biggest part of this project. Since it doesn't appear they have a lot of foundation work that needs to be done, no major building projects. Once the infrastructure gets done it more of assembly (rides), set decerating (theming) and building facades. This can go fairly quickly since alot of this is done off site some place else and ready to go.

Actually, if you've been keeping up with our next door neighbors at the Great Wolf site, they are coming along FAST. In fact, they've only been working for three and a half months, and one of the wings is near completion. Also, IJ:ST didn't begin receiving track pieces until mid-February, I think. They had the parking garage up and footers in for the track at around this time, so don't underestimate the power of PKI. They are some quick little devils.

Yeah, it always seems like they're not going to finish, but they always do... it's like magic! lol

Don't forget about how much of a mess I-Street was during the 2nd IJ tour, and it was all cleaned up perfectly by opening day.

Are you sure it was I Street and not Coney Mall? I remember the Associate Training in March and Coney Mall North (or South, IDK, it was by Dodegms down to Vortex) was covered in dirt and grime. Amazing how quickly they cleaned up the area by the time Sneak Preview Day rolled around. tongue.gif

Now about the other three rides...

...are the Dora and Blue rides also Zamperla rides?

And what about the "underwater SpongeBob world?" I had heard that the Crash Course Boating School concept had been canned in place of a BIGGER, BETTER attraction. A sort-of dark ride/coaster combo for Nick Universe. blink.gif

But I think it's just a rumor. So I'm lost on the whole thing. blink.gif

Of course it's magic! They just throw some dirt around and pour some concrete to make you think they're doing something.

On they night before opening day, the Construction Fairy comes in and finishes everything.

The workers have the best job because they get to play around in a great theme park all day with nobody else their. What do you think I want to do when I grow up?

Anyways...in all seriousness, good job PKI.

I was talking about the mud that was packed tightly in the crescent around the clock mainly, but I'm sure Coney was a mess too.

All 3 rides listed on PKIC's main page are the new rides being added to NU. Any other "new" attraction is probably a retheme. Regardless, all 3 of them are in fact Zamperla.

A couple of comments. First, and this comes from my education in architecture. RingMaster, you refered to footers. Whell that is technically not the correct term, it is slang. The correct term is footings. [End of architectural rant.]

The building behind the new slab where the handcars used to be is not a new building. That building is a cooling tower for the HVAC building and the rest of the park. The HVAC building is located in the immediate area of the cooling tower.
