Cory Butcher Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Im pretty sure that those trains wont be used, remember they used the current train decor because they are like some rover type vehicle used to track down the son who got out! So I dont see them switching to those types of trains. Those trains sure do look comfortable though! almost like a luxury roller coaster train. Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 ....sigh. Those of you who think woodies shouldn't be smooth would really not like El Toro (an INTAMIN creation). Fortunately, right beside it is Rolling Thunder. If you don't like smooth woodies, you'll be in nirvana, so to speak. Quote
WooferBearATL Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 The park is hoping for a "timely" opening for Son of Beast, and is no longer making noises that that will be opening day. It's not impossible, but it seems rather unlikely that it will be open on opening day. What do you mean??????? SOB won't be open on opening day??????? Shock!!!! Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 SOMEONE here has been saying it wouldn't be open opening day for a very long time. Others here pooh-poohed that last season, claiming it would be open last fall! Quote

cstrwomann Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 The Son of Beast will reopen this season. They are doing everything to fix this coaster and hopefully it will be open in April. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Well, you can hope it will be open in April. But hoping won`t guarantee it will be open in April. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 I think it has to do with the decision making process. If you recall, SOB was making circuits with dummies by August of last year. Quote

Browntggrr Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 "If you build it, they will come." What else could be used here from "Field of Dreams?" Oh ya... "Ease their pain" with new trains. Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 As of right now I don't see why this coaster can't be open by opening day. Yea there is a lot of work and lots of testing probaly left to do but with the right mind-set they can still get it done. Long live the Son of Beast even if it is without the loop. I wonder without the insane rosebowl if the loop would still be standing today? Quote
PKIDelirium Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I think it has to do with the decision making process. If you recall, SOB was making circuits with dummies by August of last year. They put the RCCA people on the ride? Quote
RailRider Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Hahahaha Well if their any dummies errrr RCCA folks left they should be loaded in so they can test SoB currently without the loop and see if the train completes the jump. Quote
Cory Butcher Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 HAHA now common man thats not nice, now is it? But too darn funny! Quote

tubaman Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Because he can't spell. By the way, that was a joke. Not a personal attack against a person I don't know. Quote
cstrwomann Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 So what is the latest news with SOB? Have any new trains been ordered? I want to know more information about my favorite wooden coaster. I keep hearing about X-Flight and nothing about SOB. Quote
PKIVortex Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Give it time, I wouldn't be surprised if more information will be released on the 5th with the X-Flight announcement. Quote
vortexdemon05 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 SOB will be so much different w/o the loop Quote
cincyboy0830 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I honestly could care less about the loop...I can ride the rest of the coasters at KI with tons of loops. I'm also anxious to see the new trains; being able to fit comfortably on SOB will make the ride a whole lot more enjoyable. Quote
Jasper Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 No kidding CincyBoy i cant wait to actually have a comfortable ride on that thing for once. Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Keep in mind guys....the announcement is still a week from this coming monday...and it has not been confirmed that NEW trains are coming. Its not impossible, but its also plausible to retro-fit the current ones. We'll find out on the 5th though. Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 ^ Why spend all that money and just retro fit the trains. My faviorte saying. Go big or don't go at all. Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 ^ Why spend all that money and just retro fit the trains. My faviorte saying. Go big or don't go at all. Are you paying for it? And if not, you'd rather see the ride close than not get NEW trains? I strongly suspect you have little concept of just how much new trains for that thing would cost. It is a safe bet we are probably looking at something in seven figures, not six..and yes, that is to the left of the dollar sign, not including cents. I honestly could care less about the loop...I can ride the rest of the coasters at KI with tons of loops. I'm also anxious to see the new trains; being able to fit comfortably on SOB will make the ride a whole lot more enjoyable. I think you mean you couldN'T care less...if you could care less, that means you do care some.... Quote
