CoasterNick05
Hi everyone! I am new to the site and please forgive me if this topic was brought up already but I was just wondering if Firehawk would count as a new coaster credit even if we rode it as X Flight at GL. I did not see anything in the press release about the ride being altered in any way besides new paint but I just wondered if those of you who count coasters for credit will re-count Firehawk? jzarley
I think we should use this standard...it a ride's relocation requires that new tee shirts be printed for it, then it counts as another credit
Bukowski
I think it's safe to count... The different scenery makes it feel like a different ride. There's really no rule governing this.. I would even count a rollback on TTD as a different ride. But i'ts really up to you.. not PKIDelirium. (Unless he has some rule book that I don't know about)
Purplehaze
Click-2-Listen By Denise G. Callahan Staff Writer Monday, February 05, 2007 Firehawk is flying in to Kings Island from Geauga Lake piece by piece and will open Memorial Day. Extras Latest headlines Kings Island's new Firehawk set to soar in spring (comment on this) Jury comes to a verdict: Guilty Free tax preparation starts today Lebanon tries to woo Armor Holdings Miami couple have date with 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' Get latest headlines via RSS feeds All the speculation was true  those giant neon green tubes in the parking lot are the skeleton of the X-flight ride that used to stand in the Aurora park. More than 300 pieces have been transported down I-71 on flatbed trucks since December. Kings Island said the new ride is like none other at the park that boasts several one-of-a-kind rides. Marketing Director Maureen Kaiser said she has braved the thrill ride before, and it's awesome. "You are sitting four across in the seat and have a shoulder holster and lap bar holding you in. The ride starts out and you are leaning back as you travel up 115 feet. You are facing the sky and going up backward, when you get to the top it turns over and you are facing the ground and go through five inversions at 50 m.p.h.," she said. "It really feels like you are flying. I've never felt anything like it before." It takes about 2 1/2 minutes to jet through the half-mile track. The Firehawk is going in next to and slightly behind the Flight of Fear. Work crews are setting up footings now and the ride assembly should begin soon. Kaiser said the ride takes up about five-and-a-half acres. Sandusky-based Cedar Fair L.P. purchased Kings Island last summer and Kaiser said at the time they weren't sure whether they would get a new attraction this season. But their new parent is investing $10 million in the Mason park. The ride tear down and reassembly will eat up about three quarters of that capital budget and the rest was invested in the Son of Beast restoration and for a new show that will be introduced shortly. Greg Scheid, Kings Island's vice president and general manager, said he was thrilled with the new thrill ride. "The addition of Firehawk reflects out commitment to combining one-of-a-kind thrills with fantastic family entertainment," Scheid said. "We're looking for some real thrill seekers who are ready and willing to fly. What a way to celebrate our 35th anniversary!"
The Interpreter
Since I only count wood coasters and Volcano: The Blast Coaster...for me the answer is simple. I didn't count it before, and I won't count it this time. How to count coasters is a very personal decision. Whether Racer and recaR are one or two is highly debated among some. Is Superman at MM a coaster? And on and on...
Jasper
Ahhhhhhh!!!! I hate it when people call it The Flight of Fear, The Skyhawk. But besides that i would consider it as a new coaster because it has been relocated and dismantled. Therefore it is being put up as a new roller coaster. The Interpreter
The audio announcement for Son of Beast calls it "The Son of Beast."
thejoker8388
^Interpreter, may I ask why you only count wooden coasters and volcano towards your count number?

The Interpreter
^Interpreter, may I ask why you only count wooden coasters and volcano towards your count number? Yes. More seriously, a number of years back I had a serious medical problem and was advised my coaster riding days were over. I took that seriously, and knowing I would never ride again, I tossed my coaster lists. Dumb? Sure. Did I? Yes, it was one of the ways I dealt with "it." Then, other specialists advised me there was no reason not to continue riding unless I also planned on stopping sneezing. I didn't, so I did...Re-creating the wood list was not all that difficult--I'm 98 percent sure I got them all listed again. Steel? No way. So I didn't count steel, and had no intention of it. But Volcano:The Blast Coaster is so special to me in so many ways, it demands to be counted. So I do. Not on the wood list, but as Volcanoes: The Blast Coaster: 1. Thanks for asking. Because he does? I love that answer. And it's true!
TOPGUN1993
I think it should be counted as two credits, but thats just me.
Vortex
Well The Racers at Kings Island are two coaster. Yes they both share the same station, but not that same track. Now if you goto Kennywood and get on their Racers the coasters share the same station and track. I would count Firehawk as a new credit also don't forget the add the all New The Son of Best coming later I hope?
cstrwomann
Unless they change the track configuration or enclose it in a building I don't count it as a credit. All they did was move it, repaint it, and change the name. I counted Kennywood Phantom's Revenge and Steel Phantom as 2 coasters because they changed the coaster. This is only my opinion. Reclaimer
Some people take it very seriously. It's kind of like keeping a count of how many people you've slept with. Speaking of which...what if the person had a sex-change? Thanks, I'll be here all week.
Dane
I would probably say two credits, but I'm not into the thing. Closing due to multiple negative comments towards other users.
