shadow2k3
At least Kinzel's keeping a positive outlook. GL, on the other hand, needs some serious help. I'm still curious what they're going to do about the Marquee. -S
italianchef
Getting rid of the Paramount name makes perfect sense. Too bad GL is not doing well.
PKIVortex
I noticed today, that more Paramount has been removed for the the park. The license plates on the IJST cars that said Paramount's Kings Island are gone, and the Paramount logo on the water tower in Action Zone has been painted over. So I believe it when they say Paramount will be gone by the end of 2007.
BoddaH1994
Besides the parking lot marquis, how many Paramount logos do you think are left?
PKIDelirium
As of today (well... yesterday now...) the only Paramount logos left in the park were the ones on the blue and white Paramount Parks uniforms that are still in use, some on the vending machines by Vortex, and the main marquee. hauntguy
And all of the rides that have Paramount names. -Hauntguy
The Interpreter
But, most of the public doesn't know a Paramount movie from an MGM from an Orion from a Fox, etc. And the rides are separately licensed from the park name. I wonder if eventually ALL the movie theming will disappear. Wouldn't surprise me one iota (and no, I do NOT mean Nick...IMHO that is here to stay for quite some time....and maybe even to make appearances in legacy Cedar Fair parks). hauntguy
I doubt the theming should go anywhere... just name changes and maybe minor changes in actual ride theming. For IJST... just change the billboard and call it "Stunt Track". The theme would be that you are a movie stunt driver about to head for your most dangerous road/car stunt yet. I know that's how it is now, but I don't think the actual ride mention Paramount at all does it? -Hauntguy
The Interpreter
My point is that to the public, any movie promotion in the park (Hollywood, etc.) reminds them instantly of Paramount, and that Cedar Fair knows that. For that reason, I doubt SERIOUSLY that movie themes stay any longer than they absolutely must, given the resources available and the debt to be paid. There are other ways to make money that don't involve promoting the interests of a former owner without payment--or, even worse--with payment TO that former owner rather than from it. THE_BEASTmaster
Have the movie posters on the Paramount Theater been removed too? Since the ones in Action Zone are gone I figured those would've been removed by now, and what about the theater itself? Is it going back to the American Heritage Music Hall? Cory Butcher
no, I dont think they have but Im not sure...havent looked in the last couple of weeks. I think the Titanic poster is still up on the Face Off opposite side of the theater looking over International street. you have to look to notice it though. Like I said, they may have taken them down already, im not sure!
PKIVortex
Nope the movie posters are still up on the side of Paramount Theater. I'm surprised they didn't rename the Paramount Theater for this year. They could either call it was it was before or maybe call it the Kings Island Theater. Also they are still quite a few things in the gift shops that say Paramount's Kings Island, but they are also alot of new Kings Island stuff too. BoddaH1994
I think there's an accessibility issue with the Paramount Theatre movie posters. If I recall correctly, one of them was changed to the Italian Job when the ride came out, but other than that, the things haven't budged... even now. I'm not 100% positive what they'd put up there though since it's not exactly in eyeshot so they probably wouldn't want to put a major advertisement. I'm guessing they'll just disappear. The Interpreter
If Toyota remains as an advertiser, I can see their ads going in there...and they would foot the bill for any changes over the years...
welchce
I did find it fairly funny that when I walked up to the gate for the first time this year that the faded Titanic poster was still there. I thought that might be one of the first things to go since it's one of the first things that the public sees when they walk up to the park. I could see an ad going there like The Interpreter has stated or maybe just a poster for Firehawk or The Beast or something.

They might want to wait a few years to update the Beast Plaque. My need to say Six Flags Kings Island?
