  1. It was a 2 hour wait on Saturday right after opening and was running one train. Unfortunately, I didn't get to ride as the light on the test seat didn't turn green. Starting to think now that I should have maybe chanced it as I tried the test seat at Lightning Rod and it didn't turn green and ended up riding once I boarded. Hardly any crowds Saturday. We got Magnum, Maverick, Rougarou, Millennium Force, and Raptor (rain ride- pants have rust water on them now!) in by 1:00pm. By the end of the night, got in everything except Iron Dragon, Steel Vengeance, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride. 5 rides on Millennium Force Saturday- 4 of those in a 25 minute timespan as it was a walk on. The op on unload was letting people exit through the handicapped entrance and bypass walking around. The last ride was a rain ride and in Row 2 at that, which felt like needles at 93 mph!
  2. Based on the comments, they are only letting enough people in line to fill the first set of switchbacks. Right now, I'm planning on being up there at rope drop Saturday morning, so it'll be an early one. Leaving at 5:00am. Have to get back there early and get a boarding pass, if they're still doing it.
  3. I saw a post over on PointBuzz a couple of days ago that the chassis of these trains (and the ones at KD) are different than the other RMC installs in previous years. I wonder if this is something that could be contributing to the issues at both parks. Another difference between the CF RMC trains and the others is the restraint has one hinge that is central whereas the older RMC installs have a U-Bracket.
  4. I'll be up at the park next Saturday. If it's open and I'm able to ride it, that's great. If not, I'll be back up there hopefully a few more times during the season. I'm thinking that the state may require an inspection on it, but I'm not 100% for certain on this. Posts I've seen are speculating that RMC and IOE will have to make adjustments to the ride.
  5. I'm seeing multiple people post on Facebook and on PointBuzz that two trains collided in Steel Vengeance's station and first responders are on scene. Have not seen anything else other than this to clarify or provide proof. Mods, please delete this if it violates the TOS. Thanks!
  6. This is the song that plays during the fireworks. From “The Greatest Showman” starring Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I had Coney BBQ tonight and was very impressed with the meal itself. I had the pulled pork with the sidewinder fries. It was pretty good. Had the Carolina Mustard sauce which complemented the sauce well. I'll definitely be stopping back in throughout the season. Their other offerings looked amazing!
  8. https://wdwnt.com/2018/04/rumor-new-monorail-fleet-has-been-ordered-for-walt-disney-world/ The current fleet of 12 gradually started to replace the aging Mark IV monorails, used since WDW opened in 1971, back in 1989. A number of issues for the aging fleet over the last few years, one being a door on Monorail Red that opened while in transit on the EPCOT beam back in January. Last year, a piece of Monorail Blue broke off over the EPCOT parking lot. Word has it that Bombardier, who built the current Mark VI system, will supply the new trains. Thoughts?
  9. Kings Island Cedar Point Dorney Park Kings Dominion Carowinds Six Flags America Six Flags Great Adventure Dollywood Holiday World Kentucky Kingdom Coney Island Strickers Grove Magic Kingdom EPCOT Disney's Hollywood Studios Disney's Animal Kingdom Universal Studios Florida Universal's Islands of Adventure Americana (LeSourdesville Lake) Fantasy Farm Indiana Beach Magic World Kids Park (Pigeon Forge) Goats on the Roof- not a park? (An alpine coaster was my 100th credit. Lightning Rod was 99. Mystic Timbers was 101.) 5 of these parks was on a whirlwind trip over Fourth of July weekend in 2014. Dorney and Six Flags Great Adventure on Friday, Six Flags America and Kings Dominion on Saturday, Kings Dominion on Sunday, Carowinds on Monday. 40 new credits and a whole lot of windshield time for me that weekend!
  10. I didn't notice anything different on The Beast in regards to the speed on Lift # 1 either.
  11. Just busted open both tubs of cotton candy. I actually like the chili pepper cotton candy and it wasn't half bad. It had a good amount of heat. Anybody that knows me knows that I love my food spicy. Ranch, on the other hand, wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. It's an interesting attempt and one that I've never seen done before. Try it for yourselves and let me know what you all think! Sweet Spot is also running buy two, get one free on fudge. Picked up two bars of Blue Ice Cream and also tried their new Psychedelic flavor. Got a brick of that too. When I bring fudge into the office, it goes quick.
  12. Renewed my Platinum Pass in January and added the meal plan, season long drinks, and season long FunPix just as I had it last year. Tried accessing the FunPix kiosk back at The Beast last night about 5:30pm and it said that the barcode on my pass was invalid. Anyone else have a similar issue? On another note, waits weren't that bad for the time I was there. Got to the park about 5, left about 8:00pm. Squeezed in rides on The Beast, Diamondback, and Mystic Timbers. Waited no more than 20 minutes for either. Looks like the KI Drive/Western Row construction for the most part is done. I came into the park via Columbia Road and KI Drive instead of I-71 so having the traffic light being further back across from One Team Way really helps with the traffic issues where Western Row/KI Drive/Columbia came together in the past.
  13. I just bought a tub of the ranch cotton candy. They had chili pepper as well so I picked up a tub of that.
  14. Can't help you on Opening Day but based on my experiences in the month of May, the weather in Northern Ohio is the biggest wildcard of all. In 2016, I went up the second weekend they were open. Highs were in the 40's with winds over 15mph. As a result, Dragster was closed. Additionally, Gemini and Mean Streak were closed. The day after (Sunday) it was actually colder but the winds weren't as bad. As soon as I got off of Magnum XL-200 it started sleeting. Went up this past May and it was the polar opposite with highs in the 70's and no wind. All rides open, not a cloud in the sky, perfect crowd level, and I got my first ride on Dragster!
  15. From the looks of the screenshot that the OP posted, looks like this hotel will be owned by Cedar Fair. Note rdecker@cedarfair.com as the contact information. Possibly Cedar Fair is franchising the hotel from Marriott?
  16. Millennium Flyer trains are more accommodating and more comfortable than the PTC trains used on The Beast and The Racer. Being a tall guy, the leg room in the PTC trains flat out sucks.
  17. I know it's just the angle in the above photo, but man does that blimp look dangerously close to the lift hill on Millennium Force.
  18. It was a walk on until the event started. Line was almost back to the entrance with no switchbacks open- direct line from stairs to entrance. I rode one time during the event and headed home.
  19. This past Saturday, I took my first trip of the year up to Sandusky. It was also the first time one of my good friends has visited in some time. Last time he visited, Top Thrill Dragster was the new coaster and it intimidated him to the point that he wouldn't even ride. It was also a first time visit for my other buddy. We had a great time! I almost purchased Fast Lane Plus for this day due to the nice weather (60, sunny, and winds less than 10mph) but decided to wait it out until we got to the park- I'm glad I did. We left Cincinnati at 7:30am on Saturday. Stopped to get breakfast and made a couple of stops along the way- we arrived around 11:30am. Took the usual route, I-71 to State Route 13 and rode U.S. 250 into Sandusky. Just a heads up if heading that way soon...State Route 13 is closed once it splits from U.S. 250, so if you take State Route 13 to State Route 2 and come into the park on U.S. 6, you'll have to either take State Route 2 to U.S. 6 by going up by Maui Sands and heading east or stay on U.S. 250 to go to the park. Once we arrived at the park, we headed around to the Soak City lot and parked there. Work on the old Mean Streak is continuing and there is track also staged in the parking lot for Soak City. This thing is going to be insane and I can't wait to see what RMC has in store. The improvements to the Resort/CP Shores gate look amazing! I do have to say though that I miss the old tunnel that went underneath the road. First ride of the day was on Magnum XL-200. 10-15 minute wait. We sat in 2-1 and 2-2. Great ride as always, but not trimless as was the case when I rode in August of last year. After this, the CP app reported Maverick at a 30 minute wait. Decided to check the line out for Gemini on the way back. Red side only was running- looked like a 30 minute wait as the queue was back to the midway, we passed on this. Got back to Maverick and waited 45 minutes. Amazing ride in rows 5 and 6. Maverick is one of my favorite rides at this park and one of my top coasters. Immediately following, we headed up towards the front and rode Gatekeeper. App had it at an hour wait, we waited maybe 30 minutes at the most for rows 4 and 5. Following this, we were in search for food. Every stand and every restaurant had a long line. Was going to stop into Melt and try it out but forgot all about it. Stopped in the Red Garter Saloon for some food and some beer and then made a trip to the car to get some sunscreen and some eyedrops for my buddy. Once we were back inside we headed toward Valravn. The app had the wait time at 90 minutes but we waited 45 minutes for it. The ride also went down temporarily before we were set to board. We rode in the middle row on this one. After Valravn, we headed towards Millennium Force- my buddy has waited 10+ years to ride it and was looking forward to it. We waited 45 minutes and got rows 5 and 6. Amazing ride as always. Last but certainly not least. After that Millennium Force ride, all of us were finally ready to conquer the tallest coaster in the park, Top Thrill Dragster. As I mentioned earlier, last time my buddy was on Point, he was scared to death of it and ended up not riding. Additionally, out of all my visits to Cedar Point, I had not ridden it either as it was either down, too windy, or I was too intimidated to ride. We joined the line and waited only 20 minutes. We rode right as it was getting dark. I'm pumped to ride, I'm ready for it. I sit down in the car, I buckle those weird seatbelts that Intamin loves to use on their coasters and pulled down the lapbar. We got the all clear and advanced out of the station to the launch position. Needless to say I was sweating bullets for that launch- I've never been like this on a coaster! The train rolls back slightly and the brake fins disappear into the track, and then....WOW! I had my head down during the launch as I didn't want to take a bug to the face at 120 mph. We rode in row 4, my buddy in row 2. I was speechless when we got back to the station. I was still processing what had just happened when I got off of the ride. That launch is the most intense element I've ever experienced on a coaster and was the best part of the ride for me as well as the ascent up the top hat, the crest, and the return trip back down. I loved it! One of my top coasters in that park now for sure! After this, we headed down to Buffalo Wild Wings on U.S. 250 before heading home. Arrived back to my apartment on the east side of Cincinnati shortly before 3AM. Long day, but was well worth it. Tomorrow, Holiday World! FunPix photos are attached.
  20. Went back through The Bat queue this evening and saw the tree. It's dead and the tag is more than likely to indicate that it needs to be removed.
  21. The implosion hit a snag. The closure may be delayed until 12pm per WCPO. About 75% of the span imploded successfully. The charges for the other 25% became disconnected from the igniter causing part of the structure to remain standing. ODOT is working with the demolition team to correct this issue and have the rest of the bridge down in a timely manner. http://www.wcpo.com/video/live-stream/watch-live-implosion-of-old-jeremiah-morrow-bridge
  22. Took a night ride in the front row this evening. It was a great night ride. Better than Banshee in my opinion but I still prefer my Beast night rides.
  23. Another interesting thing I found out on FOX 19 this morning is that Jeff Pike is a local guy just like Adam House. So many local connections here with Mystic Timbers!
  24. Been watching Brad! Enjoying the coverage! Be out there about 5pm to take part in the First Rider Event!
  25. Less than 72 hours until Opening Day! For some of us, less than 12 hours remain until the mystery of the shed is revealed. For me, it's less than 24 hours as I will be at the First Rider Event tomorrow! It's been a long and stressful offseason. From losing a family member, getting a certification for work that I never thought I would get, to finally going back to school for my Bachelor's Degree- this weekend cannot get here any sooner. Two weeks ago I got my first taste of coasters by visiting Dollywood for the first time. I thought I was excited before to ride Mystic Timbers. After riding Thunderhead- another GCI coaster, seeing the theming for Mystic Timbers, and seeing the POV today- my excitement level is off the charts! Additionally, after New Years, I got the itch to get a new tattoo. This is something I've been thinking about for quite some time. I already had one but I wanted this one to incorporate where I"m from- Ohio. I contacted my tattoo artist who is a good friend of mine and he came up with an idea for the tattoo- something that I never thought of and I love how it turned out. Got it a couple weeks back! My camera flipped the image so it's opposite of what you see in the picture. I hope to see a lot of familiar faces over the next few days!
