I haven't posted anything in this thread before now. I believe we are having CNN syndrome - instant reporting of everything and anything. Notice - I didn't say FOX syndrome because it's not fair and balanced. However, it is Cedar Fair (still not balanced, though). (to the tune of "My Favorite Things") Raindrops on mud piles with B & M footers Green track was spotted - does verifying matter? Grey posts are lying in grass, just up north Waiting for Don to share news July 4th - apologies to Rodgers & Hammerstein8 points

... You have it, but with the added thrill of a storyline, an awesome queue line, music, and disorienting lights and placement. Not sure what your point is. That it doesn't need those things? That's your opinion, but I thank God we have it as we do. It's what sets Kings Island apart.7 points

I'm glad that some people don't look at 30+ year old people the way they look at 30+ year old Arrow coasters. Sheesh.6 points

There is no off site storage area and there was no green Intamin track headed south on 71 yesterday. Hook, line, sinker.5 points

Strange, every coaster track on a flatbed in the past 5 years thats traveled on I-71(in Ohio) has popped up on weight station logs & multiple media outlets. And now mysteriously this green track that was allegedly to be seen, made it to its location(or out of Ohio for that matter) without a peep on any media outlet and no logs at any check point weight station? Maybe this was an advertisement for the "Now You See Me" movie.5 points

Just because the green track didn't end up at Kings Island doesn't mean that some of us aren't interested in where it is actually going. Some of us do follow the happenings of parks outside Kings Island. Just sayin'.5 points

It's about time some sanity returned to this thread. Firstly, a lot of the "hints" that everyone have been referencing are pretty far fetched, to say the least. The pterodactyl tweet was almost definitely in relation to Dinosaurs Alive. Cedar Fair trademarks names all of the time that never get used (Stratosoar and Whyte Lightning immediately come to mind) and given the history behind the Banshee name I wouldn't look to that as being entirely set in stone as the ride's title. I rather enjoyed Don's teasing about "Dive-____" through twitter, because it's done exactly what it was meant to do. It got you all talking about it and played with the earlier dive coaster rumors. It's not meant to be a serious hint at all. Even the actual serious hints are usually false clues, remember when Cedar Point teased "Gee, See, Eye!" before Shoot the Rapids? Or when Kings Island put up posters proclaiming "Ride Sally Ride!"? Secondly, please, for the love of Pete, stop assuming that footers have anything to do with ride manufacturers. Diamondback uses square footers for its station and transfer track, but round ones for the rest of the ride. But Millennium Force also uses round footers for most of its ride segments. And Batman The Ride, another B&M at SFOT uses square footers for all its supports. Triangular footers are used when three supports hit the ground in a close location, not because B&M or Intamin in particular like them. The footers go according to whatever is needed from an engineering standpoint. I'd wager that manufacturers have very little say in the footer shape compared to the track shape. Which brings me to the supposed Intamin track on I-71 South. I'd first like to say that this kind of sighting happens constantly. Cincinnati has I-71 and I-75 going through it, which are two major routes for transportation in the region. Sightings of track/supports going by occur constantly. Even if it is track going towards a park for its final destination (which is not certain anyway), why does it have to be for Kings Island? There are plenty of parks that can be accessed by at some point using I-71. Besides, it would be rather peculiar for track to begin arriving at Kings Island right now anyway. Diamondback construction started much earlier than this project has, and red B&M track did not begin appearing until late July. Gatekeeper's track also arrived well after initial construction began, and its construction began much later than this. Right now, this coaster (I think it's fairly safe to say it is one) is fairly early in development, delivering track now would be quite useless. That's just my thoughts on all this nonsense. At this point, the best thing we can do is wait and watch. Don't expect anything substantial until well into the summer, as it goes with most coasters.5 points

Can you get a picture of the "No Camping " sign? http://milliond0llardarkparadise.tumblr.com/image/51810517199 I hope this link works! I'm not very savvy with adding pics, I apologize. Man we threaten to bring back the trailer tower and they quickly put that darn sign up.4 points

Maybe this is a message for KICers not to camp-out by the fence, with baited-breath, ready to pounce on any new bolt that may come off of a delivery truck.4 points

No camping? That's a very weird thing to say. Maybe it's a Call of Duty roller coaster sorry gamer side coming out again...No camping and the screaming it talks about on the other sign? I feel like it is a ghost related ride named Banshee. I don't have any guess on what kind of coaster it will be but i wouldn't mind something like the smiler4 points

Thanks Crypt. That's what I was thinking when I started this. Decoding 2014 is turning into real news and rumors. This is just predictions.4 points

Interesting... I was at the Fairgrounds last Saturday (for something completely unrelated to KK) and I took the time to drive all around the perimeter of the park. I didn't see any change - other than some vines/trees cut back at a gated entrance near Thrill Park Theater. Granted I didn't get out of my car and peer through or over a fence (I wasn't invested enough to take the initiative), but it appeared as dead, sad and unkempt as ever. I saw no signs of "construction." I have to say, when you drive around it, it's shocking to see the dissaray. There are buildings with giant holes in roofs. Tons of rotten wooden siding on games buildings/food stands. Coasters are rusted over. Greezed Lightning is in as poor shape as Thunderbolt Express was at Camden in it's final standing years. The Giant Wheel looks completely rusted out. There's literal trees growing up through the rides. (On a simular note, I read online that the cement in the wave pool has cracked and trees/roots have grown through.) The once Black T2 is a pale grey now. The footings where Chang stood are all still there... it would be a hefty cost just to remove those. I've been vocal about my non-support for the parks "re-opening." I think it's a complete joke. But IMO, there's no way the park can be reapaired to a viable complete state of operations in time for 2014. It's become more and more obvious to me that SF walked away not only because of bad land/parking/rent deals with Workman's Fairground... but it also knew the investment the park would require in the near future. The costs outweighed the gains - thus they packed their bags and hightailed it out of dodge. Shaggy4 points

This is a little late, but now that school is out, I'm going to have some more time to do this kind of stuff, and go to Kings Island!!!! After a long boring bus ride, we arrived at Kings Island, and no matter how many times you come to this place if never gets old, seeing the all of the rides on the horizon just awaiting for the park goers to climb in to the seats and just… have… fun. We entered the park around 9:30, but I had to wait with all of the other students, but i enjoyed watching them take in the majesty of just the beginning of this fresh (to them) environment around them. But after like 20 minutes they played the national anthem, which one of friends believed to be the russian national anthem(remember this). They opened the gates and we all streamed in we ran all the way to Diamondback, which apparently isn't going anywhere. We speedily rushed through the queue, and up into the station. We stepped into the gates for the second to last row, along with my friend logan (who's this was his first roller coaster). We began our assent up the hill, I look at my anxious friend as he nervously whipped his sweaty hand on his pants. As we began to crest the hill, he held on for dear life, we began to plumet. As we came out of first drop, with my hand high in the air and looked over, logan was smiling, the largest grin I'd ever seen on his face before. He screamed RUSSIA !!! (jack said "i can see russia from here" on the way up) and we all scream russia in unison throughout the entire ride. After Diamondback two more times (still chanting "Russia" every time) we rode The Beast two times. they all seem to like it. After that they all wanted to ride The Vortex, but no way we hit up backlot real quick, not bad, but it wasn't there favorite. We then rode Vortex, I made specific that we were sit in the infamous 5-1 and we began out accent, with logan tell mouthing (or it was to me) "this is LOAD", and I nodded in agreement, as we hit the top of the hill, I screamed "here we GO!!!", and logan began to scream, i then laughed at him as we hit the pre drop. He then screamed for real. We got off, rubbing our necks, trying to keep out heads attached. We then set off for X-base... We journeyed to subsection of coney mall in witch I adore. Though Jack and Kieran didn't want to ride Firehawk, cause apparently it causes pancreatic cancer, but I managed to get them to agree that logan needs to try it ( Cause that is reason *roles eyes ). After waiting in the longest line all day (like 12 minutes), and Logan saying this is a long line, we then beat him up. After riding Firehawk, we all seemed to like it (me loving it!), Logan loving it for the first time, Jack and Kieran admitting it was ALOT better then they remember it. We then rode Flight of Fear they really like the whole theme aspect of the ride, and they LOVED it, the launch, the flips, the turns. They just loved it. We then rode The Racer they liked it. After the always wonderful ride on The Racer we rode Flightdeck, but on the way i peaked through the fence. and friends apparently thought that was insane(I don't know). They really like flight deck, and as always with new flight deck goers I scare them as the other train pulls in the station, and the our train slows down, but it didn't have the same affect with Jack chanting " role back" "role back" the entire ride. After another ride not getting out of the cars, we decided to ride Invertigo then eat lunch, but instead we rode Drop Tower twice (again not having to get out of the seats). We eat lunch by Invertigo, then we rode (not logan) Invertigo twice( not having to get out of the seats ). We then ran to Delirium and waited outside the entrance because it apparently was down, but it opened up fast and we hopped on for a relaxing ride of Delirium. For the next hour and a half we rode Diamondback 11 more times. And it really doesn't get old, but we had to begin to leave at four, but we, at least sneaked one more ride on The Beast and set off back to International Street. And as we left I wasn't sad about leaving, but was just happy to have spent a (school) day here in the most wounded place on earth with my closest friends.3 points

Not good to be promoting the park's re-opening if you are out trying to get sucke..er...investors to invest in a scheme the private sector won't finance, your own bank won't lend the full amount on as it believes it Is too risky and apt to fail even with the STATE's land as collateral, and that even you yourself were unwilling to commit to by April 27, but demanded 60 more days during which you could walk out. Just as the Kochs did. Just as Six Flags did. June 27, 2013.3 points

If you love forceful airtime, 1-3. The very front is not to be missed, nor is the very back. And if you are into smooth, then the center row of any CAR, not of the train.3 points

if this park is getting ready to be reopened then they are dropping the ball on building excitement through press releases.... or maybe they are hoping people will slowly forget about them as they walk away...3 points

I find the posts there far more interesting. Sound a lot like what nearly everyone here is saying, except one poster at each site who keeps casting every glimmer of hope as a bright and shining can't miss beacon of certainty of the park's re-opening. Could it be one and the same poster? June 27, 2013.3 points

Back in the early 30's when both the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building were being constructed, the final height of both buildings were kept secret until the last moment. The builders of the Empire State Building added on the spire at the top to give it the title of the highest building in the world and beat the Chrysler to that distinction. The same might be with parks. They want the bragging rights over what might be the longest, highest, or what ever record might be for the year. Hence, they delay the announcement as late as possible to create even more hype and interest.3 points

It's not a wing coaster. He said it. TheCrypt, that's my English teacher's favorite saying. When finding symbols inside a story and working the themes out of these symbols, we'll come across something that's just plain - sometimes a cigar's just a cigar. It's not a wing coaster. Oh, look at me, relating school to what Kings Island is building - I should get extra credit!3 points

...as did the Kochs. And Hart's own bank is unwilling to lend the requested amount. Hart HIMSELF would NOT commit to a lease by April 27. HE asked for 60 more days to back out should he so choose. If he had wanted to commit to this project in April, he could have done so. He did not.3 points

You're on an amusement park fansite that, within the past month, has accumulated close to two thousand posts in a single thread comprised of wild assumptions and baseless conclusions that, not only is a coaster of immeasurable size being built on the grave site of several previous rides, but it is somehow universally concluded to be a gigacoaster from B&M Intamin (insert company name here) destined to be the park's true flagship attraction; we should leave the pot to continue calling the kettle black on this one.3 points

I thought you were allegedly in the know and completely assured it was a B&M giga. What happened to change that?3 points

I'm not getting angry at the speculation. I'm a veteran of the "Rumor Coaster for 2009" thread (which I believe still holds the record for longest thread in the site's history, though I'm probably mistaken), so I've participated in my share of rumor discussions. I just think it's silly to speculate on trivial things such as footers and the like. Somewhere in here there was a conversation about Cedar Fair's buying habits and the recent tendency towards B&Ms that I thought was very constructive and interesting discussion. I think the past actions of the owners is a lot more substantial basis for speculation than the shape of footers is all. If you want me to speculate, I'd put my money on a large investment steel coaster from a reliable manufacturer with the transfer track / station area where Thunder Alley once stood. If you want me to tell you what I wish for, I wish for a B&M Invert or Wing Rider, though the latter is apparently not an option. I'd love to have a Raptor or Montu at Kings Island. Actually I'd really love to have a Thunderhead at Kings Island, but this is pretty clearly not a woodie. I suspected that 2013 would be similar to 2008 for Kings Island and started lurking again when things got interesting in Action Zone. I just one-offed that post to try and help steer the discussion toward a more reasonable path, and will probably go back to lurking some more.3 points

Hey guys! My first post here, but have been reading these posts basically from day 1 of this thread and have actually learned a lot. Through reading this thread i have noticed one option that has almost been completely ignored. What if there was a coaster being relocated between Cedar Fair or outside of cf parks. Do we know of any rumors of a removal of any coasters? I am only saying this b/c we really don't know what company or type of coaster we are getting for sure yet.2 points

Why do people get angry at speculation? That is one thing I just don't get. You say that you don't understand why people are guessing and speculating for the new ride, but that is what your doing here. You don't know that the track is not going to Kings Island. None of us on this site, excluding Don, have any idea what this ride is. But, we try to guess and draw conclusions. That is what makes this site so enjoyable and this thread so popular.I'm not trying to pick on you. I know you are a well respected poster and do not want to make you angry. Hope it didn't come off this way. The reason why the poster is getting "upset" is the same reason why I am getting "upset" as well. People are seriously stating that they know for a fact that mthis ride is from a certain manufacutor strictly because of the shape of a few footers on the ground. The poster is absolutely correct we need to chill and wait for more substantial clues. We have gone through nearly 2000 posts and have really not discussed anything substantial. Is it fun to speculate? Yes. But is it fun to listen pass off their speculation as fact? No... This gotta have the info now mentality is beyond frustrating. Just chill and watch what happens instead of trying to predict the future...2 points

Whatever this may be, I really want to see lot's of theatrical effects. A good soundtrack, with elements of sound throughout the ride, and lot's of theatrical lighting. LED's are really becoming cheaper and cheaper, and the technology is utterly amazing in what you can do with them. A few automated lights could really make the whole experience.2 points
