It is unbelievable this is posted yet again. This was discussed in this very thread last night, including the credibility of Screamscape. Unbelievable. The just right word.12 points

To celebrate the last day of school, I headed to Kings Island with my mom and sister last Friday. We decided to head to Diamondback first. But, when we got there, a message about severe weather played over the loudspeakers, and Diamondback was closed. So, I decided to head for Flight of Fear, while apparently one of my sisters friends got to the park, so they headed to the front gate. A 90 minute wait time was posted, and the whole outdoor queue was filled. It was pouring outside now, and there was some lightning and thunder. About 30 minutes later, when I was about to enter the hangar section, lots of people were walking backwards in the line saying that the ride was shut down. When I entered, I saw the whole queue filled, and lots of people exiting. An employee in line told us that the ride was down due to the severity of the storm. After 35 minutes, I put my raincoat on and got ready to leave the line, as I agreed to meet at the Eiffel Tower about 30 minutes from now. So, as soon as I was about to go, cheers erupted, the TV’s in line turned on, and Flight of Fear was back open! So, I decided to stay in line, and waited about 20 minutes from there, and had a great ride on Flight of Fear, after about an overall 90 minute wait. I walked to the Eiffel Tower, and got there only a few minutes late. My sister and her friend were out doing whatever, so I was with my mom. We headed to Diamondback for our 2nd attempt at riding. 10 minutes through the line, when we were on the stairs, a message played, and Diamondback closed, again. We decided to see if Woodstock Express was still open, and it was, so we headed for Woodstock Express. Woodstock was walk on, and a fun ride on the best coaster in Planet Snoopy. When we got off, it started pouring, and we heard the ride ops announce the closure of Woodstock behind us, as another storm moved in. We dashed through the pouring rain to the Snoopy Boutique. We discussed what to do, and we decided we were hungry, so we headed to the Reds Hall of Fame Grille for my 2nd time. On opening day, we took the wrong receipt, and wasn’t able to give our waitress our tip. Somehow, we had her again, and gave her, her tip from last time. She was very happy about that. Something I noticed was that some of the prices went up, like a full rack of ribs from $19.99 to I believe $22.99. We decided to split the shortstop ribs, and 12 pieces of boneless wings. The food didn’t take too long to get here. I decided to try the ribs, and they were MUCH better than last time on opening day when they were dry and overcooked. The wings were also really good, and besides the price raises, everything was great. When we left the restraint, I saw Diamondback open, which we have tried to ride already twice, so we headed there. The wait was only about 5 minutes, and it was raining, and I was now able to know what it feels like to have baby rocks fly 80 miles per hour at your face. Luckily, I had my raincoat on, so I put my hood over my face, and I was better. And this is when the fun started. And in the gift shop, I found this. That’s a mini Son of Beast! C’mon T-Shirt designers, that’s not The Beast! And I guess this park has “The Crypt” and “Boomerang Bay” still. Anyways, we headed to The Beast now, which was a station wait. And it was a lot of fun, on the world’s longest wooden roller coaster! Our next stop on the Great Kings Island coaster tour was the next nearest coaster, Backlot Stunt Coaster. It was a station wait for the front row. Unfortunately, there were no fire effects on, but it was still a lot of fun! Then was the first coaster with 6 inversions, Vortex. There was also just a station wait for Vortex. I rode in my favorite seat, 7-1, and had a great ride. WindSeeker had a small line of people ready for it to open for the first time since 4, so we joined those people. WindSeeker reached the bottom from a test cycle, then a couple minutes later the ride opened, and it was obviously a walk on. It was a nice, windy ride on WindSeeker! From the top of WindSeeker, I saw Firehawks line wasn’t outrageous, so I headed there, also considering I wasn’t able to ride it yet this year. The line ended up being only about 10 minutes. It was a fun flight on Firehawk! We were going to ride Flight of Fear, but we saw the line extend out of the building, and I didn’t want to wait in all the indoor switchbacks if they were still filled, and I already rode it today, so we decided not to ride Flight of Fear. Our next stop on the Great Kings Island coaster tour was The Racer, which was racing an hour ago, but was not now, probably because it was not necessary. It was a cycle wait for the Red Racer, and a fun one as well. Next was the Puddle, I uhh mean Adventure Express. There was a really deep, unavoidable puddle in the queue. Once we made it passed that, we arrived in the 100% empty Adventure Express station. So, we rode in the front row. It was a great ride on the parks only hybrid coaster! We took a quick peak through the construction fence. We then headed for Flight Deck, which had the gates open so we literally walked right on into a row. It was a fun quick ride on Flight Deck! Our next stop was Drop Tower, which my mom chickened out on, as always. It was a cycle wait, and a fun ride! A great ride for looking at construction, but please don’t take pictures. And now, what coaster outside of Planet Snoopy have we not rode today? If you guessed Vortex, your wrong! If you guessed Invertigo, your right. Invertigo was just a cycle wait, and another great ride! It was starting to get dark, so we headed to The Beast for a “night” ride. The Beast only had a station wait, so it wasn’t completely a night ride. There was also my new favorite ride op entertaining the riders and station. Ride Op: “Is there anything out there that can beat The Beast?” Crowd: Various answers Ride Op: “Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, who’s the trouble maker who said Diamondback”?! A few hands rise. Ride Op: “Diamondback may be taller than The Beast, but The Beast, will always be at the TOP, of the food chain!” Crowd Cheers. So, it was a fun semi-night ride on The Beast! It was about 9:30 now, so we decided to do something we’ve never done, fireworks on the Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower’s line was longer than any in the past couple of hours, but it was just a cycle wait. We looked around the lighted up park, and got a spot for a great view of the fireworks. The fireworks went off, behind and to the left of The Racer, and went on for about 5 minutes. It was a great way to tap off a great day, as we then left the park! A couple of notes: *Except for storms, I didn’t see anything go down for the whole day. *If there’s a chance of storms for a few hours, and the park’s not closing for a bit, wait it out. Get something to eat, watch a show, or shop, and you won’t regret staying. *No better way to kick off summer! Thanks for reading!9 points

New for 2014, KI's all new area, the "Dangle Zone". So that would make I-71 "Highway to the Dangle Zone"?9 points

You're right, it is unbelievable. Mainly because it's screamscape and their "sources" are probably either this exact website or their butt. New to KIC'ers, this is as good as a time as any to learn: Screamscape is NOT a reliable source of any information.8 points

In all fairness, my KI Platinum Pass worked. Perfectly. Intend to try at Cedar Point this week. I'm amazed. I was also amused by Fort Zimmerman at Flight of Fear. It was very hot. The park was nearly empty. And food was substantially more expensive than at Busch. A very small slice of Pepperoni Pizza was $5.03, including tax. At BGW, a much higher quality 12 inch pie was $9.29 with a season pass. KD is a gorgeous park. Rain was coming. I got there at about 11:30 and was gone by 2. Flight of Fear went down just as I was about to board. Grizzly was as awesome as always. I'll be back when all the shows have started.6 points

Diamondback is all about negative g's, forces that lift you out of your seat. Leviathan is not only taller and faster, but it has a higher focus on speed and turns as well. Give it a rest.6 points

Have you ever ridden either an invert or a diver? Each of the 3 inverts I've ridden (Raptor, Dueling Dragons and Montu) have been absolutely spectacular. The dive machine I've ridden (Sheikra) was fun, but not very impressionable. I've always wondered why folks around here tend to clamor for dive machines. I suggest you go to Busch Gardens and ride their diver and invert in the same setting. See which one you would rather ride a second time. Of all of the steel coaster possibilities, a B&M Invert would be my first choice.6 points

I have officially switched from popcorn to nachos with 3 cheese sauce and jalapenos. And the beer is tasting better too.6 points

In matters like the present project at KI, I've always looked at Screamscape as a providing information about what is happening on the internet, as opposed to what is happening in the park.5 points

If it is a waste to you, don't ride it. Didn't cost much, looks beautiful at night, is usually a walk on, is a great way to cool off on a hot day without getting soaked. May not be your cup of tea, but, how does one consider putting a good looking, inexpensive ride in an unutilized place in the park a waste?5 points

I see two potential options for this: You can email Lance about your sightings and he'll post it within the next 48 hours on the site and we can further waste posts about how Screamscape should be taken with grains of salt and is wholly unreliable after he does, or You can divulge every bit of information you have regarding the B&M/Intamin Giga coaster you are so desperately sure is being built on the grave of Sonny, giving us names of contractors and sources so they themselves can get fired from the project.4 points

Matt Ouimet already confirmed that there are no more Wing Coasters coming to any Cedar Fair parks anytime soon. Is it that hard to understand?...4 points

Wow this is incredible news. Hey did you know that Mantis at Cedar Point was originally called Banshee. And the sky is blue.3 points

Screamscape is garbage. Ouimet already said no CF parks are getting wingriders in 2014.3 points

As stated previously in this thread, take anything Lance posts at Screamscape with a grain of salt... EDIT: Beast1979 beat me to it! Gotta love Time Warner Cable's internet!3 points

I want to say I read something somewhere saying that Dorney was the test market for this program for Cedar Fair. I don't see myself using this. I don't feel comfortable going anywhere without my wallet, cards or identification.3 points

I had a great time with you, ohiocolts! You were in a good place, waiting for Flight of Fear during those storms - I was huddled with the sister and her friend during that time at the entrance gate. That wind, rain and lightning was fierce! Kelly was the waitress at the Reds Grille - great service! We will ask to sit in her section again. Only thing I didn't really enjoy that night was my wet feet. I was very tempted to utilize the family dryer, but it kept drizzling for a long time so I figured I'd get wet again right away so I didn't bother.3 points

Patriot is far from the suggested sleeper with which you are calling it. And I was referring to your remark about how they are never designed to go that far back. Have you seen Alpengeist? It uses the terrain quite well actually. B&M does do custom layouts for parks.3 points

More fun comments... Uh, because that's where they've always done them? Remodel the entire park except for three coasters? That could get expensive! "Much cooler" and "better rides"? Surely there's something else besides those three coasters that this person finds cool and/or worth riding. And perhaps the strangest one I've seen so far...3 points

If it is an Invert I would be very disappointed. I would rather have a Giga or Wing Rider or even a Dive coaster.3 points

Secondson, you're post made me think this seriously is a B&M invert. With my last post thinking the lift would go in that direction and then you drawing the drop swooping like that. The Montu prediction also makes sense kinda. Then I looked up this: hmmm.... looks oddly familiar with the drop footers. I do, however, find it weird to have the parks only inverting coasters all in one area if this is an invert. (Not counting flying ace's aerial chase.)3 points

Re: Screamscape... Some parks and PR folk actually submit rumors to Lance... I know of at least two instances where park reps have "leaked" stuff to Screamscape. It's no different than actors "leaking" things to TMZ... all for publicity. Sometimes those leaks are truth... sometimes they're false... sometimes they have merit... but sometimes they're designed to mislead. I seem to recall that Screamscape, when Diamondback first began construction, posted that they heard from an official that the site was being prepped for a dive coaster. Add to that the interview that Dennis Spiegel (International Theme Park Services) gave to a local TV news station in Cincinnati saying that the construction appeared to him as being that of a "Dive Coaster." It turned out both were wrong... but wrong with the same guess... coincidence? As construction on Diamondback progressed... the original Screamscape speculation magically dissapeared. POOF! I read Screamscape weekly. I enjoy it. But I also take it for what it's meant to be... rumors and speculation. Quite frankly, I've been able to better guess some things just by looking as ground prep than Screamscape has. But then other times, it's been on the mark. Typically, Screamscape is fairly accurate with specualtion about parks which Lance is intimately familiar. He's not intimately familiar with KI.3 points

I am currently too big to ride most of the rides at the park. Last year I was about 400 pounds (Not my biggest) but since then I have lost about 40 pounds and I am still too big for most, but my two visits this year so far, I have been able to fit more comfortably on the rides that I was tight on last year. I tried the test seat on Diamondback and was able to get my entire butt in the seat but still have to get rid of some inches around my stomach. But my goal is to be able to ride Diamondback by July 4. I did not have too much to go actually. But I do still have quite a bit of work to do for The Beast. Adventure Express was definately an easier fit for me this year. Its definitely a plus that Flight Deck has taken off the seatbelt restraints. I am continuing to work on it. I actually have a Facebook page dedicated to my weight loss where I talk about my primary motivation is fitting on rides again at Kings Island. Its called Stephen Transforming and my first "note" or blog on there is about the feelings of the walk of shame. I wish everyone the best of luck. We will ge there.3 points

Yes, it is a launched B&M, but the launch was custom designed by Universal Creative. The wheels are always checked and i believe are foam filled. If a wheel needs replaced it can be done in about 20-30 minutes. The launch tunnel has compressed air outlets for impact wrenches. They also use the air to help blow out the rubber dust too. The tunnel was part of the intial concept so protecting the tires is probably secondary. There are 3 B&M's at Universal Orlando, the dueling dragons count as 2 coasters. Central Florida has the most B&M coasters within 1 hour of each other, with 3 at UO, 2 at SWO, 3 at BGT. Source: was opening crew at IOA2 points

I agree that the operators should be able to push on the restraints. After working at a park that was allowed to and then working at a park that was not, I can tell you that not being allowed to push is not only a large pain in the rear, it also just makes everyone mad and upset.2 points

Two inverts in stone's throw of each other? kinda odd to me. Edit, inverted and suspended. still hanging from under the track.2 points

Well, I haven't been on KIC in a few years now (Although apparently my account is still active ) but I saw this posted on the Facebook page and registered immediately. The last KIC event I went to was Ride Warriors Weekend, so I'm well overdue for another one! Looking forward to this.2 points

Ignore the lift hill on the left of the Montu image. It appears that the track will be turning left from the station on the new attraction, not right as in Montu.2 points

It'd be a better comparison if there were footers shown for both images, instead of footers with one and then an overhead view of a coaster.2 points

Biggest bust of all time? On a KI fan site? Has FT reached $50+ million yet & been dismantled? Then & only then it can be discussed. Until then, only one ride easily has the identity of "biggest bust".2 points
