Recent driveby earlier today at Kings Island by moi, enjoy the view. Fun facts: Banshee's lift hill can be seen by the houses on Tylersville Rd heading towards the park. It's visibility actually does parallel as much as the Eiffel Tower. They are actively working on the parking lot and either sealing it or repaving it, I didn't stay around enough to figure it out. Also The Bat has ALOT of paint on it that's fresh. The color unfortunately isn't as bright as I'd imagine it to be, it doesn't pop on the skyline per say like Banshee's bright colors. But I'm sure up close, it'll look incredible. Banshee also looks great, also that zero g post lift hill loop is actually pretty crazy. It's like combining a camelback and the inversion in one. The sign is displaying info about Banshee, no doubt there. Nothing else new Hope you enjoyed. Those attending the off season event this week, get ready to see this from the balcony, it's going to be exciting!6 points

The thing is, those of us around Louisville, already know the park is opening. They need to get some signs up OUTSIDE of the area.5 points

It's far from quiet around the Banshee construction site. Not all the work being done is visible from the webcam. Don, I did not mean there was nothing going on. I am aware there is lots including station work and more. That post was just in the continued construction of track phase. So when the first half was built, the track lay all over the site and worked well to construct. Why now for the second half is there a staging area up the hill instead of where the track is being built? Columns are around where they'll be going up on the back half of the ride with track pieces are moving into that area just as they did with the first part.5 points

Gross! Emoticons count as words right? Well, they do say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so sure, why not?5 points

That's not really a fair question...the front seat clearly has a big head start. ;^)5 points

The employee lot has some pretty deep sink holes in it that need repaired. It is great that the park is going to repave the lot or I hope it they do!4 points

Shhhh! I was going to ask why Cedar Fair doesn't run two trains on Invertigo next! Invertigo does fine with a single train. I do think Wicked Twister could benefit from two trains, though. In fact, I think the improvement would be smashing.4 points

According to Kentucky Kingdom's Facebook page, they have now posted billboard ads all over the Louisville area..... (Photo Courtesy of The New Kentucky Kingdom) Glad to see that there is some effort being put into marketing the park now.........3 points

I found this on the Weather Channel page and thought it to be quite good. Each page has several pictures so make sure you see all of them and not just the one that is shown first with the script. http://www.weather.com/travel/creepy-abandoned-theme-parks-20130320?pageno=13 points

I know it has been said before but we all really appreciate you taking the time to update a few enthusiasts Don! It shows that you enjoy your job. I think we sure ask a lot of him, and he delivers. On more on topic note will they start electric work while construction is still going on or is that the last step? I had to edit this before I posted so my question did not get Terped ,,, i know someone knows. : )3 points

Why now for the second half is there a staging area up the hill instead of where the track is being built? Because construction methods are different for every type of erection vertical ascension. Just because it gets put up one way in one place doesn't mean the same process for another spot. Believe me, construction crews have this planned out. Don't worry Banshee will be built. Doesn't matter when it's done during the off season, just as long as it is for opening day.2 points

Hate to be Captain Obvious but yes he knows when Blue Streak was built. His post was directed towards the one before his.The Racer was not built 15 years after Blue Streak, nor were there roughly 15 years between the two.2 points

That same rule applies to the "outside". I've fired people for not meeting that requirement. Again.....this same rule applies to the "outside". Pro Tip - Require skilled trade training prior to entering the workforce.2 points

I'm bringing this topic back, as I'm sixteen in a month and want to apply for a job next summer. I'll be living five minutes away by that time so I just have to get a job at Kings Island! Can you experienced KI workers give me some ideas of what I'm doing? How the interview is, how it'll be starting my very first job at Kings Island (if I get it), if it's as fun as I think it is (to be honest, I wouldn't even care about getting a job as a sweeper..!)...or should I just get a job at Kroger?2 points

Chillier had dual stations with a sliding transfer track so two trains could each run on the same non-circuitous track, as do the Messrs Freeze. It worked (works) well.2 points

I have not been this year, but for the last 2 years, that I have been to this, they have not closed any rides. I can say that I did freeze my knickers off, too! If you can go during the summer, I suggest doing that. Wild Eagle runs better in warmer weather. Same with Thunderhead. For hotels, try Expedia. Being that close to Christmas, I would say they will be pretty busy. You may have a little drive to and from the park. Roadway Inn is nice. The park is amazing this time of year. The food is awesome. Be sure to plan your meal times, Aunt Granny's can get quite a long line. However, it is worth it!2 points

^ technically speaking, blue fire does not meet requirements of the question which was anywhere in the country. Nonetheless though, blue fire looks fun and would love to have it. In my original top spin post I wanted to say talocan but then did not because it was in Germany, not in this country.2 points

So, wait, they're working on the parking lot? Glad to see them making an effort to smooth out the roughest ride in the park.2 points

This is a bad picture but what you don't see is the employee entrance and security post 3 was completely removed. We all know how bad the main lot is but for those who work at the park we defiantly know how bad the employee lot is and how outdated much of the offices are in the associate area. I'm glad the park is investing into its workers from all levels along with the guests.2 points

There have not been any delays. The construction crews spent last week moving supports and pieces of track into the next area where track will be installed.2 points

It's hard for those Gods to make anyone pay when their arms are non functioning Plenty of "one-armed bandits" have made people pay over the years. I think a water coaster (as in, roller coaster-water coaster (Mack), not water slide-water coaster (Proslide)) would be perfect in Tower Gardens. It could be called "The Expedition" and utilize the waterfall structure for the lift and drop. It could also possibly go inside the waterfall at some point of the ride. I think you greatly over-estimate the size of the waterfall in Tower Gardens.2 points

The thrill of being among the first night riders on the new Banshee roller coaster at Kings Island will have a whole new meaning April 17, when Kings Island hosts “Scream for A Kid Again” to raise money for the Greater Cincinnati chapter of A Kid Again, a non-profit organization which strives to enrich the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families by providing healing times of respite through fun-filled group activities and destination events. Kings Island fans and roller coaster enthusiasts alike will enjoy a night filled with riding the world’s longest inverted roller coaster over and over again. My dad has been sick since last Tuesday. Edit: Also as of now, it's looking like about a 60% chance of SNOW on Friday. Hopefully it's enough to cause a snow day so I can come early, but not enough to make traveling a hassle. Though my school district is fairly strict with snow days.1 point

I will tell him on the way there! I think a suitcase, and riding with LoraX and Katie will sort of make him question a doctors visit!1 point

Kind of like in maybe 2005, back when we lived in Indiana, my family went out to eat, and headed "back home", but the ride "home" was real long. We ended up at Kings Island.1 point

Where on earth did you get those figures? The ENTIRE company (not just KI and CP) barely brought in more than a billion in REVENUE, not profit, in 2012. It does NOT break out results by park. Its net income for the ENTIRE company was just over $100 million. The type of spending you contemplate would quickly bankrupt the company.1 point

Is KIC going to do this as a group?! I am going to do this, just would love to go under KIC if we are going to do this as a group. I love this organization. My friend Amber, her daughter Katelynn (KK) and poppa Steven have been tremendously helped by this organization. It would be wonderful to be a first rider - but the greater thing is to raise money for an organization that is truly awesome. My birthday is April 19 and I am already asking people to donate to this instead of buying me a birthday gift. A kid again gives children with various medical issues/limited abilities to do things they would normally not be able to do. All kinds of fun activities. If you have never gone on a day that Kings Island hosts the A Kid Again, you should try going. It has been a wonderful experience when I go on those days. These families are truly inspirational. This is the wonderful and beautiful KK: When I posted on Facebook about doing this - Team Bumble - Amber responded with this (she did not realize initially this was only the fundraiser not A Kid Again Day) : Neatest smile EVER!! I love this status SOOOO much.. If this is something you would do feel free to use some our pictures from Kings Island. I hadn't heard the date I'm surprised we are going so early in the year.. A kid again is such an amazing organization.. Thanks to them bumble has gone to a hockey game, minor league baseball game, zoo, Kings Island, comedy/ magic show, they have a holiday party where each kid gets a gift they want and most importantly it was all done free to the family allowing us no worries and Bumble a chance to just be a kid. Thank you so much Lora!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Yeah, don't loose sight of the forest through the trees. Already had to tear a guy from GOCC a new one for complaining about the event since he was entitled to media day anyway. He made himself look like a spoiled brat and made his club look bad. This was a grown man too. KIC, as I see it, is far above the whole entitlement thing. The vast majority of the people associated with this site are grateful that they get to spend time at KI and want to share it with others.1 point

Simple solution? Raise as much as you can. It goes to charity. It's about kids, not coaster credits.1 point

I'm very interested in participating in this event, getting to help children with life threatening illnesses and their families is always something special to be a part of. Helping sick children is something that is not necessarily addressed around the world like it should be, which is why I'm glad to see an event like this taking place. Count me in.1 point
