  1. If they turn off the camera, I will consider helicopter tours of the area. Sent from my VS840 4G using Tapatalk

  2. The Outer Limits: Flight of Fear was shortened to just Flight of Fear in 2001. However, one could argue that one of the "new" attractions that year (Wild Thornberry's River Adventure) was also renamed (having been Kings Mill Log Flume up until it last operated in 1999). Personally, I prefer to think of KMLF and WTRA as two separate rides, as the attraction was almost entirely rebuilt. And for anybody not getting what homestar92 was referring to, Xtreme Skyflyer opened in 1995 as "Drop Zone". It was renamed to its current name the following season, most likely to allow for a new ride named Drop Zone to open in Coney Mall in 1997 (there was even a teaser sign that said "Future Site of New Attraction Dropping in Next Summer!"). The attraction was postponed and instead opened in 1999 as part of the new Paramount's Action Zone.

  3. Interesting. A. Admissions for the big lizards must be dropping somewhat. B. One wonders if KI will do this, too.

  4. I think it would be funny (perhaps mean) to turn off the cameras after the coaster is complete and they retheme the area. I would love for that element to be seen in person not online and in pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. ki had a special season pass for unlimited visits to DA this past year. I think it was $12. it was nice to get away from the crowds.

  6. ^ This particular certificate wasn't issued until 12/12/2012, so blaming him might be farfetched. (But then again, Bart's still there at the end of 2013.) One would hope that an error like this would have started sending alerts to the mobile phones of Cedar Fair's IT staff around 7:01pm last night.

  16. ^ I seem to recall a similar perk in the original perk list for 2013 passes. I got excited about it. By the time opening day rolled around, it had been removed. This time I'm not believing that they'll actually go through with it until I actually get the discount on opening day.

  17. Yes. The SSL certificate wasn't timely renewed. Thus, you get an error message.

  18. ^i keep hoping they will start letting gold pass holders in free. I actually like the area (when things are working) and would go through more if it were free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. Anybody think of digging a ditch there? Simple fix for that would be to dig a gulley type ditch in the ground and boom, clearance issue resolved. But I tend to always listen to 'Terp...there won't be a clearance issue.

  21. KD competes with BGW. At the time, KI competed with...a closed KK? (not that an open KK would have mattered much). It matters. I understand that KD competes with BGW, but do they compete in celebrating anniversaries? From what I've seen so far, I hardly count it as competing "material" to one up BGW. Bringing back some of the days of old, 40 years from the first season. KI 40 years from the first season, we got a waterpark upgrade...while I understand an upgrade was necessary, I know several people who would like to see the days of old at KI.

  22. And I'm sure there's even leeway for extremely tall people. Losing legs? A super villain runs Cedar Faire now? He's going to be sitting at that particular curve and laugh as people meet their doom? This is King's Island! Why are there a select few being such downers on my park?

  23. I don't think so. If anything, Kings Dominion may have been kept up a little better. Except food service. KD has exceptionally lousy food.

  29. It'd be one thing if the Festhaus clock had been quietly shut off and the animated figurines were hidden behind closed doors. But it's an embarrassment for the park that the thing hasn't worked since at least 2009, with one of the doors ajar with a little chef figurine stuck halfway inside, halfway outside.

  34. I purchased one the morning following the announcement and uploaded a picture a couple days later. I was contacted this week about my photo needing to be rotated. I uploaded it straight from my iphone so I did not realize it was not oriented correctly. The person that contacted me had me email them another picture and said it would be processed shortly. I am hoping the pass comes sometime this week. I thought the option to upload the photo and get processed in advance was pretty cool. It sure beats standing in line at the park. I have only had season passes at two other parks so this may be more common than I realize but I have not seen the option before.

  35. In the past, the fence between the fair midway and Kentucky Kingdom came down and all rides and attractions, to some extent, appeared to be part of the fair. Of course, to even a one time Kentucky Kingdom visitor, no such illusion was successful.

  36. Did anyone else here purchase a season pass and use the option to upload your own photo? I did in mid-November, and I just got my pass today in the mail. Some things to note that you guys might find interesting: 1.) The photos on the passes do NOT look like what's shown on the website. Instead of color pictures with decent DPI as shown, it's very, very similar to what the old Paramount Park pass photos used to look like. Today's Six Flags pass photos look more detailed. Ironically, the format of the pass's front and back is REALLY similar to the Six Flags passes. 2.) MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE PHOTO SUGGESTIONS. I accidentally clicked through without reading them (the site doesn't give you a chance to read them once you've selected and uploaded a picture) and sent a rectangular portait photo. It's been smooshed down vertically so the photo is distorted. But on the plus side, it's a selfie of me in front of Firehawk, and I'm geeky enough to enjoy the irony of them inadvertently adjusting the photo so more of the ride is shown. 3.) The website says pass processing takes fourteen days. It's been almost four weeks since I purchased the pass, and I just got it today. I purchased a pass within a day of passes becoming available for sale, so maybe there was a backlog of passes to process. Or maybe my wonky pass picture threw things off. Or maybe only the Pony Express delivers mail out of Louisville. I dunno. I just know I get any orders from Holiday World within three business days or so of them sending it. 4.) The information card they send with your pass says your pass is valid for free rides during the Kentucky State Fair. The back of the pass says the pass is not valid during the Kentucky State Fair. Does the park (in the traditional sense) "close" during the fair and just become part of the fair? I'm a little confused by this.

  37. I'm not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on KIC yet, but I just saw this post on Facebook from CP Rundown regarding Banshee media day..... "Kings Island announced the Banshee Media Day is tentatively scheduled for April 17th. Confirmed plans will be announced in January! You must be a card carrying members of a coaster club, such as Great Ohio Coaster Club."

  40. If I were Kentucky Kingdom with its limited funds, the LAST thing I'd be doing is a teaser ad campaign. Call to action marketing instead: I'd have attractive volunteers passing out cards in malls, downtown and in guerilla marketing locations with Kentucky Kingdom's Back! Season Passes On Sale Now! And the URL. I have been totally unimpressed with their marketing decisions so far. Hopefully, the park is constructed, operated and maintained far better than it's been marketed so far. Best example: introducing the coaster at 11 PM at night on a Saturday, on social media only. Why? I suspect a VERY low budget for the announcement. Result? A nearly totally wasted major media opportunity. This thing could have been national news. As it was and is, even many roller coaster enthusiasts still haven't heard about it. Quite a few non-enthusiasts in my workplace have asked me about Banshee. Only one person--from Louisville, no less, has asked about Kentucky Kingdom--yesterday. His question? "Are they ever going to announce any new rides?" And this from a guy who keeps up with national affairs and things back in Louisville.

  41. Kings Dominion has now started a "12 Days of Christmas Surprises!" campaign, which will feature something new everyday, that they will be doing to the park in 2014..... On the first day of Christmas, Kings Dominion gave to me: The return of the iconic Floral Clock! (Photo Courtesy of Kings Dominion) "The Floral Clock will be completely rebuilt in its original location at the end of Center Street near the historic park Carousel."

  44. Bb1...here's where I stop you in your place You are the only one who has said anything about my liquor posts..which half of them were in preparation for my holiday party I threw for everyone. Or my occasional drink here and there. When it comes to, and for lack of any better words, your ass were tired of hearing about it. If you noticed people comment against it, and people frequently like the posts telling you to stop I can't force you to...but strongly suggest to... Fyi this irritation was a big topic of discussion amongst us at the holiday party. If it reaches that level of complaint from about 20 or so people. Hopefully the light bulb illuminates If not I'll continue to hit my head against the wall...hemorrhaging
