  3. Am i the only one who keeps looking at the Banshee cam, even though track work is done, hoping for something to drastically change?

  4. These are great points and to show the reach I have seen from the marketing approach KI has taken. I have family in the Norfolk VA area, they called me about a week after Banshee was announced to ask me questions about it and the park. They are now planning a trip here to stay at Great Wolf and visit KI. They are not park enthusiasts and are not looking for this info, yet it made the news. Remember they could easily go 30 minutes away to Busch Gardens and the Great Wolf in Williamsburg, but the marketing and advertising KI has done has worked for this family. I asked them recently if they had any plans for other stops on the way home and they said yeah we are going to another park with a new family ride. Kentucky Kingdom, I asked. Where? No we are stopping at Dollywood on the way home. Just a small example, but interesting.

  5. Great points!^ I think right now its easy to compare KK and KI because KK is opening anew while KI is opening a new ride. We can compare (sort of) how each park is doing things. KI invited media members, streamed online, used social media, and had a big unveiling for Banshee. KK used social media, announced the new ride late on a Saturday (?). KI has their PR guy (the awesome Don) doing TV and radio interviews talking about the park, mentioning season passes, and the ride. KK used social media. KI has drawn interest from news groups outside the area. KK....

  6. But in the rendering The Bat was shown as Flight Deck. Like rcwizard13 said, some things displayed in the renderings are not finalized.

  7. They will have a Plinko board for sure. I haven't seen a wheel though. I'm not sure if Plinko is a registered trademark so it is capitalized to avoid the plague.

  8. What if in place of the Action Zone circle, they put a big mural of a crescent moon, with a few Bats and a Banshee. (just an idea)

  9. Okay, if it wasn't obvious before, than it is now- the Action Zone circle is gone!

  12. Can we....I don't know....get back to the point of this forum? I'm glad we all went to law school about trademarks and all but I really just want to read about Banshee and not how to properly hit the shift key....

  13. They are in the same market as these other parks, therefore comparison is warranted and if KK thinks they are not competing against KI, HW, and DW then they are worse off than I thought. I am scrutinizing KK because the tax payers of the Common Wealth are on the hook if it fails, not much benefit if it succeeds. When I see a so called start up park making the same mistakes that others have made, who have failed, I am concerned in the parks viability, sustainability, and impact on the Kentucky tax payer. Being truly honest I see the lack of vision and planning for the future after the initial year or so as clear sign that this is a fly-by-night operation that is more political stunt / short term money grab than a project that is aimed at truly solving the issues that have plagued Kentucky Kingdom for years...

  14. Uh... YouThere- this, after all, is a "Fan Site" of sorts. There are no qualifiers of people to become new members, only dis-qualifiers if they violate Terms of Service. You're going to run into a WIDE (and I mean WIDE) range of opinions and varied expertise from Professionals in the twilight of their careers to Jr. High Students obsessed with roller coasters. Comments will range from legitimate to outlandish to just plain mis-informed. This is a opinion-based forum and thoughts on here about KK may not be what the owners or employees of the Kingdom think or want people to think, but some points on here are the thoughts of the public at large. You post as though you have a vested interest in the park- so, herein lies some public opinion from an outsiders perspective. Take it for what it is.

  15. I would like it if they made it look like it never existed. Like cobblestone the whole area. For a retheme. That I think is happening. Wishful thinking....

  16. I am hoping Kentucky Kingdom does well. I loved going there. I actually preferred it pre Six Flags, I really cannot quite put a reason with that. So, it opening up non Six Flags makes me a little happier. It's the only Six Flags park I've been to. I think with what I had heard about other Six Flags properties I was expecting more improvements in the years it operated. There are so many issues that go into the spending too much, too little, etc. I think if they can get some huge coasters or top thrills it will help, but when you factor Kings Island is less than two hours away, Holiday World 1 1/2 hours away and even Dollywood about 4 hours away, they have really steep competition. Especially with Kings Island and Dollywood. Those two parks alone have consistently made changes, added some major thrills and continue to do so. With all seriousness, Dollywood excels with customer service more than many other parks. (Kings Island has drastically improved over the past several years.) note: I have never been to any Disney location. I've heard their parks are dynamic. Having enough "thrill" to draw from those parks will take money. I still struggle with how it will be profitable over time. I just don't see how it could be. Personally even if I had unlimited resources I would not throw excessive amounts of money into a park that needs extensive improvements. I still see issues with many things. Having any type of drop ride seems like a very bad choice. Marketing is still lacking. Announcements not done at appropriate times. Where's the hype? Even if I was not aware of things going on with a new ride at Kings Island, they had enough hype about Banshee I would have heard about it. My mom who is in her mid 60's, that is not a huge fan of amusement/theme/thrill parks that lives an hour west of Indianapolis told me she heard Kings Island was getting a new ride before August 8. In Indianapolis they had on one of the news outlets about Banshee being completed. This is free marketing, in the winter time getting people excited about the park already. I don't know why something like this would not be done at Kentucky Kingdom. I still feel a huge negative is the parking issue. I understand that it's something unavoidable, however if I am deciding to go to Kings Island or Kentucky Kingdom for the day, I would likely choose Kings Island with one reason being parking is already included in my trip. 24. I would imagine the whole area in front of Banshee will receive new pavers in place of concrete. See Diamondback and WindSeeker for examples of the love the surrounding area will receive because of a new attraction. This is a big reason Flight Deck became The Bat. New major ride = Beautification of surrounding areas.

  28. It's a rendering. Things are seen in renderings all the time that don't appear in the final product. I have a feeling they didn't yet know what they wanted to do with the area, so just left the circle in for the rendering.

  29. There's zero reason to worry that the Harry Potter franchise will become obsolete or lose its place in pop culture. Think Star Wars, which is nearing its 40th anniversary and is just now inspiring new films, theme park attractions, entire themed lands, and selling massive merchandise to consecutive new generations. Like Star Wars, Harry Potter will be passed between generations and recognized as timeless writing and imagery. Just when you don't hear about it for a while, it'll rocket back into pop culture and prominence. As for James Cameron's Avatar...

  31. Within limits. But, does Kentucky Kingdom have enough money? And from whence did it come? Lastly, does the park have the kind of problems money cannot fix? Few would argue that Geauga Lake had inherent problems that no amount of money could fix, once Six Flags ironically spent boatloads of money turning the park into something it had never been before. I'd argue there can even be a thing such as too much money. Spend too much, you'll never get an adequate return on investment. (Six Flags under Gary Story). Not enough, parks eventually fail (many, many small parks and some not so small).

  33. Just follow the rules, CF high ups have asked for it, Admins have asked for it, and people here personally have asked for it. Follow the ideas and heed the warnings, we're not asking much. Upsetting the park should be the last thing anyone here should want to do. CF does alot for us, when they ask something little, just return the favor, it's not hard. When it's not followed it makes us look bad. Last I will say is consequences could be possible for what I've been told. Heed that as a last warning, that should give you a clue of how high up and how serious corporate takes this

  35. Clifford carried that weight a long time. Now golden slumbers fill his eyes, Smiles awake him when they ride. Sleep, Mr. Clifford, do not cry; And I will sing a lullaby. And in the end, the FUN you take is equal to the FUN you make. And while we're on the subject of Banshee: I want you so bad, it's driving me mad. Something in the way she loops attracts me like no other coaster... And other Beatles references, because the loop is round. Sorry if I made this thread weird.

  40. The street view at Kings Island was made using one of the Street View bikes. I was working at the park the day they recorded the park. I was in a truck sitting at the railroad crossing waiting for a train to pass when the bike came back out of Boomerang Bay (as it was called when i still worked there). Sadly it wasn't recording so I am no where to be seen!

  42. If anyone has RSVP'ed for media day under CC but their membership hasn't been paid for by Friday, we will be working with the park to remove those names from the media day list as those people are not valid members of The Coaster Crew. Remember you must be able to show a valid approved Coaster Club Membership card or you will be turned away on media day. If you do not pay for the Coaster Crew membership, you will not receive a card.

  44. We should seriously set this to music; it would be easier to post a link to a snazzy musical number than keep retyping this: Correcting people's capitalization (or the lack thereof) of trademarks is not a personal attack; it's self-defense for the forum. I repeat: it is not a personal attack on you or your posts. The administration has requested that we publicly correct each other on the forums when trademarks are improperly capitalized. The administration has asked that trademarks be properly capitalized to protect the site from potential subpoenas. The administration has defended those who correct people's corrections of trademarks missing proper capitalization. It's a minor request with big consequences. And yes, it does matter on a seemingly small site like this. That's why all this is happening in the first place. It's reactive, not proactive. Perhaps it would help the site become more capitalization-aware if we were friendlier about it or explained the context of our posts. Not everyone who posts here has time to catch every post, including the ones that explain why we suddenly seem to be grammatically critical of trademark names. Can't say anything about the "Mason" and "Ohio" corrections, though. The guy just really likes Mason and Ohio?
