I wear cargo pants to the park. Sometimes, I buy some souvenirs that are just the right size to fit in my pockets. When I start to take on that 1991-MC-Hammer look, I simply walk out to the truck and leave the souvenirs there and come back for more coaster-ridin' bliss. I do not do the moving sidewalk dance, though. I can't touch that.9 points

Philadelphia based restaurant coming to the Point, famous for their CrabFries: http://fox8.com/2014/01/30/cedar-point-makeover-new-rides-food-general-manager/ http://chickiesandpetes.com/ I actually tried Chickie's and Pete's last summer in Ocean City, NJ and let me tell you, the Crabfries are amazing. They may sound strange, but they're so delicious. The fries are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and are covered in an Old Bay-like seasoning. They also come with a delicious dip. I could have them everyday if I could, that's how much I love them. Think this could be the new restaurant going along the Gemini Midway?6 points

I always bring a back pack with me and I've never had any problems. If I have to rent a locker I will do so I have no problem with that. And for the people saying there is no reason anyone should have to bring a bag in there are quite a few reasons why someone would. I carry mine at haunt the most because of the difference in temperature from day to night. I'm anemic so my body temperature fluctuates quite a bit. I always keep a hoodie in my bag even if its 90 degrees outside. This is also the reason why I wear my beanie all year long. And why I wear a bandana over my face when riding in the cold. You may not need to bring a bag into the park but for others it can be essential.6 points

^3 I know, right? There are days when just strolling in, stopping by the Glass Blower to watch Wayne create a colorful, sparkling trinket with fire, buying a souvenir, then walking over to LaRosa's and buying a slice or two and a refill, and just chillin' out by the Royal Fountains to reflect on the long day, is all it takes to make a trip. You gotta be a season pass holder, though, or it just doesn't feel right.5 points

KCKC was among my favorites in KI's ride lineup. I miss that ride probably more than any other defunct ride. I always considered it a thrill ride in many ways. And I find it difficult to describe how cool it was, but when I do I use a lot of hand gestures and sound effects "It would skid across the pond below, just like a jet ski SWISH!…it was so cool…you had to be there!"5 points

I'm kinda amazed by some of the elitism I'm seeing in this thread. "No one should ever need a backpack at Kings Island" "If you can't wait in line without a drink you just need to adapt" Everyone has different situations and no one here can possibly account for what everyone has to go through while they are at the park. While I admit that we are becoming a society that complains about everything and people feel though they are entitled to everything, insulting people and acting like you know everything just shows your ignorance. Just because you can spend 15 hours at the park with just your season pass, only spend $3 and only take two sips out of a water fountain all day doesn't mean everyone in the world can do that. It's fine to have an opinion, but have some class and respect other's opinions as well.4 points

That picture just looks so 90s. I can practically hear "Hit me baby one more time..." playing. I kinda doubt those guys were listening to Britney Spears at the time but hey it's possible.4 points

Hopefully they show how the chain is being installed. I've always been curious to see it done. This could be an awesome video4 points

I can tell you exactly what's going in there.. Good thing I work in Blue Ash now, I can stop in when I get off at 4, and spend a couple of hours. I see a high ride count this year.4 points

^ And I have gone to Kings Island before and not ridden a thing. Those are some of the best days.4 points

I guess I'm part of the minority when it comes to the drawstring bag debate. I always carry a bag in the park. Keys and glasses (in case my contacts come out) go in it. Also, I always have a souvenir cup which goes in the bag while I'm on a ride. Having said that though, I realize the park isn't responsible for keeping my items. Also, I respect the policy about loose articles in the Banshee station. I have no issues with purchasing a locker.4 points

They do more than coasters. Falcon's Fury (INTAMIN Drop Tower) will open this year and they also had their hand in making the new Harry Potter train and parts of the coaster for the new Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando.3 points

If you did this before or during the time period of 1991-1995, then you and I need to have a talk. You really chapped my hind hide. -Gator Emerson Hall '91-'92, Hepburn Hall '92-'93, RA in Brandon Hall '93-'94, RA in McFarland Hall '94-'953 points

I couldn't wait that long!!! It's hard enough waiting just until April 17th! wont there be 1000 schools their on senior trips, music trips, physics trips and other school trips though? I always find that the most annoying time to go. Line jumping, barely clothed young teens, and not to mention getting caught in line with young teens having very loud and inappropriate conversations.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Nope. Alot of schools make up their snow days during that time so I always make sure to go at that time. I always get up early so I can get at the park when it opens and I always leave around 5pm so I can avoid dumb people who use curse words as their main vocabulary. No offense. It's just I don't want my kids hearing idiot speak like that plus when you say the f word every 3 seconds it makes you look uneducated and ignorant. Most school senior trips are toward the 3rd week of June. I've been doing this for years so I know when to go! I'm a Kings Island Veteran3 points

For me, this ride was the perfect transition from kiddie ride to "grown up" ride. I can remember riding Kings Mills Log Flume and thinking "hey that other one is just like this only taller. I want to give it a try".3 points

Some trees and a few colored up lights. That's really all I would like to see. I do love the idea of incorporating the scream though. Also maybe adding some simple rock features around the low passes. I just think doing a lot of little touches would probably go unnoticed to the general public and would just be unnecessary maintenance down the road.3 points

Wow all gluten free stuff st the park..I'm impressed. Good on them... Yes some beers are naturally gluten free. If it's not a wheat or barley derived beer..those that aren't made with it are naturally gluten free. The Yuengling they serve in the park is not gluten free however. By the way KI...you carry the Original Lager..why not the Black and Tan..good stuff3 points

Heard gluten-free, had to chime in... I've had an allergy to wheat(gluten) and peanuts since I was 18 months old. Options have DRAMATICALLY improved in the past few years, in general(not just at the park). Up until the park implemented new gluten-free menu items, though, my diet at the park consisted of Dip'n'Dots, an occasional bag of chips, and a soft drink. It was often hard to even get soft serve ice cream because some stands only had cones, no bowls. In recent years though, I've been thoroughly impressed with the reasonably priced gluten-free options the park has. I've also found I can get some chili-cheese fries at Skyline with little to no issues.** **Disclaimer: I know that even the slight cross-contamination that occurs there could throw some people into anaphylactic shock or Celiac issues. Each person with dietary restrictions, as always, should approach restaurants in general at their own discretion due to the potential risk of cross-contamination.**3 points

Couldn't they do mist if they planned ahead for it? Diamondback does pretty well being in contact with water all the time. And rain surely comes in contact with most coasters in the park without significant damage.3 points

I'm not sure. If I were to guess, I would say these track pieces are coated in better paint/better protecting agents than most other rides specifically for these elements. Adventure Express' track got so bad that the track actually had to be replaced (IIRC) in 1999. Backlot's track is also a testament to the effects of rain and water.3 points

Since I'm paranoid about losing things, it pretty much all gets secured. K.I. sold (not sure if they still do) wateproof plastic containers, about 3x4x1", big enough for my ids & cash. I also went to Dicks (which carries the same, sans logo) & other sizes. In the boating section, they have what look like SUPER-heavy duty ziplock bags, made for kayakers to put cell phones in (and the phone can still be used while in it). I got some small tethers & miniature carabiners, put them on each AND my keyring. Now I walk around K.I. looking weird with a bunch of short pieces of cord clipped to my belt, going into my pockets.3 points

This will only work if those still exist next year. I recall a time just a couple short years ago when EVERY locker in the park was of that variety, and now only the one set of them are. Also keep in mind, should they still be there and you use them, it would be wise to remove your items before 10 PM, or if you absolutely MUST get in that last 10 PM ride, pick a ride in Coney Mall or Oktoberfest, because security probably won't be too keen on you walking about after closing time unless you are headed for the main gate. This also seems like a good place for homestar92's guide to Theme Park Penny-Pinching through the use of cargo pants. Remove anything from your wallet that won't be needed for a day at KI. I learned this after an unfortunate incident on Firehawk required me to get a new Student ID card and cancel both my Debit and Credit cards. Now the only things that stay in my wallet are my gold pass, some cash if I don't plan on spending much, or my credit card if I do plan on spending a decent chunk of money. My driver's license travels to the park with me, but gets stored in my glove compartment upon arrival. I also keep an extra pair of glasses in my glove compartment at all times, so that if anything happens to my main pair, I can still get home. Also, regarding wallets, if you have an expensive or sentimentally-valuable wallet, I'd recommend getting a cheap one for theme park use. With regards to money, there is a good general rule to follow. If you are budgeting yourself $50 or less, you should probably carry cash. But if you know you will spend more, it actually makes more sense to bring a credit or debit card. The reason for this is the Fair Credit Billing Act, which states that if you report a lost or stolen card within two business days of learning that it has been lost or stolen, the most unauthorized charges for which you can be held liable is a total of $50. Phones are a toss-up around here. Many users, such as Terpy, do not typically bring a cell phone into theme parks for any number of reasons. Some of us, such as myself, need to have one with us for some reason or another (such as a mother who refuses to believe that her responsible 22-year-old son is far more likely to be hurt or killed driving to the park than he is on any rides therein, and therefore worries if she does not hear from him periodically). If you stick to a wallet, car keys, and possibly a cell phone, then cargo shorts should be perfect to hold your stuff. Zippers that run the length of the pocket are probably best, but if yours are velcro or a button in the middle, leaving the ends unfastened, safety pins for reinforcement can help ease your mind. Drinking water can save you from carrying a souvenir cup, and water is free at all concession stands and restaurants in the park. If you do choose to use a souvenir cup, then know that you will have to get a locker or leave it with a non-rider for Firehawk and probably Banshee. If you plan on riding White Water Canyon, Congo Falls, or Race For Your Life Charlie Brown, and you DON'T wear flip-flops or sandals, bring a Ziploc baggie with you. Prior to riding, remove your socks and place them in the baggie, then wear your shoes without socks for that ride. I find that wet shoes with no socks is a whole lot more tolerable than wet shoes AND socks. Then you also have dry socks to use later on when your shoes have adequately dried. Finally, sunblock. I stick to the trial-sized tubes. You can get them at most Meijer stores (and probably other places like Wal-Mart). The benefit to the trial-sized tubes is that they will also fit in cargo pockets quite nicely. Just close the lid good before you put it in your pocket, or give it its own pocket just in case. Or better yet, a Ziploc baggie. Sorry if this was slightly off-topic.3 points
