  2. Hey getting a couple of days off work is nothing compared to getting your teenage daughter out of school for 2 weeks before the Easter vacation......talk about having to pull some strings......but it was totally cool with her......of course...... Well, she thought it was until I started making her do the work the teachers gave me to have her do at night...........the look she gave me was priceless!!!!!!! Kind of like the look she is giving me right now in the hotel room...... I just said...only a few days til Banshee...and she smiled....briefly...

  4. To many people in the Greater Cincinnati area spring doesn't start until they walk into Kings Island. The clanking of the chain lifts, bright colors, and the smell of freshly baking Cinnabon treats signifies that the dark and cold days of winter have officially passed. This Friday, Kings Island officially kicks off its 2014 operating season with some much-anticipated new attractions! The highlight of the 2014 lineup is the brand new Banshee roller coaster in the Action Zone section of the park. Situated partially on the land which was once occupied by the infamous Son of Beast, this 4,124' inverted roller coaster is the longest in the world of this type. Keeping with the tradition of taking the food options in the park to a whole new level, the Chicken Shack will also make its debut in 2014. This new restaurant will featured hand-breaded chicken tenders, salads, wraps, and wings. If you want the best deal in the house, check out Kings Island's new All Day Dining Plan which allows you to save a bundle and never go hungry! Something old becomes new again at Kings Island as the ride formerly known as Flight Deck is rechristened as The Bat. Paying homage to the short-lived 1982 roller coaster of the same name, The Bat will debut in 2014 with a brand new paint scheme and logo. If you love the live shows and entertainment then you're in for a real treat this year! Kings Island will debut the new Cirque Imagine show in the Kings Island Theater on May 24th. This 30 minute show will display feats of strength, athleticism, and balance in this Cirque du Soleui-style showcase. For more information, park hours, and to purchase tickets, check out Kings Island's official web site www.VisitKingsIsland.com

  6. It's all bittersweet for me; I can't be there for Media Day, Opening Day, or even any day prior to Memorial Day. I think my "45,040th Rider" shirt might actually be too low a number by the time I give Banshee a first whirl, the way things are going. Sheesh.

  14. Just another notice as for some reason some people still ignored my post this morning.. For those taking illegal POVs or posting pictures inside the park against the parks permission, you are causing a nightmare for yourself. They will find you, and soon you will find yourself without a KI ID or uniform and kicked out of the park, possibly worse. For the one posting the POV, you actually possibly have caused a lawsuit for yourself violating ORC. I have seen this stuff happen myself first hand. Some fools wanted to leak Dinos Alive before the park announced it, some wanted to make a scene, guess what, the next week I never saw them again except through Facebook. This stuff does matter to the park, and it is very real. They're a large corporation, and they are keen on protecting their interests, and they are keen on what they want out there and what they don't. To see an employee hold a camera and sneak it out at the top of a hill and hide as soon as on the brake run, you know already you're in the wrong. Then on top of it, there are safety signs, there are ride instructions prior to boarding, and I know more than likely you were all briefed. Plus again, this is all in ORC. Mess with the park the wrong way, they will boot you out the gate, and guess what happens if any future employer contacts KI regarding your employment, you're not setting up a bright future for yourself. I understand the desire to show and leak stuff early to the coaster community, trust me I've been there. I knew about Dinos about mid June and they didn't announce till somewhere in August. Trust me did you not know how bad I wanted to spread that we were going to be losing PWX to get your last rides in and just to get that awesome info out there and be the one who did it. Oh you bet, however, I was not the parks PR dept, nor was I privileged to give that info to the public. Lastly I valued my job as a ride sup, and I valued my connection to the company. If you don't want to have a bright future with the company and have a great reference and possible future employment, and risk future employers finding out about your termination, so be it, keep on the weary path. Just understand you're causing this problem for yourself only, and here as well. Your actions violate your terms of employment, and this websites terms of service. From here on out, keep the media you do not have the privilege of sharing with the public off of KIC, of face the consequences, last warning kids.

  17. On the last Friday of Haunt, I took my friend for his first Haunt visit. We did not go in any Haunts. The scare-actors were much more than enough for him. Anyways, here is a video I took on that day. The off season is soooo close to ending. Just 3 DAYS until Banshee Media Day and Scream for A Kid Again, and 4 DAYS until Opening Day 2014!

  18. In just four days this ride will be jam packed with excited guests, I can't wait to see the lines.. and not be the line. Someone mentioned before that the Wolfpack queue could be utilized. I think that'd be a good use of space without blocking too many other things, only the bathrooms. Have the line feed from the exit and soon, people will walk the old SOB queue to get in line for Banshee. If that's not enough.. then all I have to say is geezle petes

  20. If an employee (or anyone) filmed on the ride, he/she would likely be criminally cited as well. It's a misdemeanor in Ohio for a rider to fail to abide by posted rules/instructions. Legal and safety issues aside, I certainly don't want to see any POV of Banshee before riding it.

  21. Yes, Banshee may be among the best roller coasters on Earth. They sure have moved a lot of earth in the construction of Banshee. The whole earth rejoiced at the announcement of Banshee. Riders on Banshee will fall to earth at a whopping 68 miles per hour.

  22. Well it looks like they couldn't even keep their employees from taking cameras on the coaster and making illegal POVs.

  27. Thanks for the info Kat, Greatly appreciated. Check your messages. I think I know exactly what those colored LED lights are for and why they are where they are......but I'm not going to say because I respect the parks secrecy policies...and I might be wrong anyways but I don't think I am. I have done some work on projects that had a similar type of themed lighting. If its what I think it is, everyone with be pleased.

  31. Nope, there was normal levels of security. A reminder would've helped maybe before letting people ride. I'm not surprised it happened. I wasn't given a memo not to take videos yesterday before riding. But a park employee technically shouldn't have to receive one since we agree upon hire not to take and post photos or videos that would be unseen by the general public. It was very gracious of the park to do this for the little-workers at the park. I hope this instance doesn't change their choice of having a fun kick-start to the season like this the next time a big ride comes within the next 10 years. And even if it still happens, an employee event, hopefully a verbal reminder given from supervisors will be all that's necessary. Either way though, the fact of the matter is, the majority of people that visit the park did NOT see the video.. either video. It could've been worse.

  32. Shake, Rattle & Roll, because of its visual appeal - its symmetry and colors evoke feelings of fun, and its proximity to The Vortex anchors the feeling of being in a world-class park from many angles.

  33. Even though The Beast was overshadowed by Diamondback for its 30th, the park DID give it some love- they rebuilt the entrance plaza for the ride (with a new sign), and they re-tracked the final helix. I'd say that was a fair amount of love...yet it still got overlooked, since you know, a $22 million dollar B&M Hypercoaster opened up that year- that sort of thing is ALWAYS going to get the most attention. And, with a $24 million dollar B&M Invert opening up in Action Zone...sigh, another Beast birthday that will be overshadowed. Then again, we've been getting new coasters on each major anniversary now, so that's nice for us I suppose...'cuz it makes it easy to guess when we are getting another new ride. Also- HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAST!

  34. Looks like the fundraising was a big success! Of the 240 registered, the vast majority were able to raise at least $100. I know everyone's financial situation is different, so thanks to everyone who gave what they could! Look forward to a fun Media Day, followed by a nap, then back at 8:30 to ride Banshee and meet some of you fellow KICers as well as some great kids!

  36. Even when used as a verb?? hmmm.. Trademarks and servicemarks are typically not to be used as verbs. Doing so makes genericization of the mark more likely. Xerox used to fight this tooth and nail, as has Photoshop. Interestingly enough, if you ask Google to define the word "Google", it returns it as a definition for "google" (in fact, even their example sentence shows it as not being capitalized), but if you ask it to define "Xerox", it gives you a definition for "Xerox". It looks like Google is implying that it's okay to not capitalize it when using it as a verb...

  38. Well the site says $51,055 raised with 243 donors reaching the $100 minimum. That is awesome. We should add up how much members here on KIC raised for the event. I didn't reach my goal of $1,000 but am very pleased with $580. Way to go everyone.

  41. Im an architectural designer and model builder....and have done all sorts of projects for clients that insist on absolute secrecy...some of the things I have worked on have been for theme parks.....and I have been offered rather large bribes from various "interested parties" in the past. Of course I was never even tempted........I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure.....lets see...you wanna give me 10K for a copy or a peek of these plans that will cost me my job......at the time 70k a year.....and being blackballed from the industry and have lawsuits brought up against me? Take a hike buddy........I mean who would be that stupid? Then again im 50 years old and know better...but even if I were a junior/senior in h.s. I still wouldn't do it. But that's just me......

  44. To the one who has posted the youtube video and pictures inside the park, let it be known, I already know who you are. Your name, age, social media accounts, etc. and even have a picture of yourself. If I can find everything about you in about ten minutes, you don't think the parks PR/IT department can't..You were warned

  45. Those fools know who they are too. As a KI employee, I respect Kings Island, Cedar Fair, Mr. Helbig, Mr. Scheid, and everything they have done. And I do wanna share things that I know and others don't, but I cannot do that. I love my job and I don't want to lose my job over posting a picture or video. If employees wanna act cowardly and do stuff like that, let 'em. They won't be happy when they get fired and possibly kicked out of Kings Island. Edit: Just do what the park says. It's really simple.
