I would think the Coca-Cola company may like to know about this as well, since they require their products to be served a certain way in restaurants (aside from the occasional flat soda). If that hasn't been happening for some time, they might send someone out to investigate.6 points

5/11 ( Mother's Day ) I took my mom to the park for Mother's Day and since she only goes twice a year, as a treat, I bought her and I Fast Lane passes so she wouldn't have to stand and wait for so long and actually enjoy her day. I was nervous about getting her on Banshee since I wasn't sure if she would like it ( she wasn't fond of Raptor at CP and inverts in general are hit and miss ) but she loved Banshee! Got her on it four times. The day in general was really nice though. Weather was perfect, got to ride all the coasters and the flat rides we enjoy doing together. It was overall just a great day.5 points

Why would Stephen Hillenburg think himself an Octopus? How delightfully odd! Hey, you said it. Terp, one of at least six locals still in DC the Thursday of Memorial Day Weekend... No! He was talking about Squi- oh, forget it; I know when I've been 'Terped!4 points

May I suggest you spend the weekend talking to your gma. Have her tell you stories. A cancer diagnosis can be frightening. One day she won't be here as you will be beyond upset you chose a park over a family member. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Right now, I would be satisfied if the Reds Grille would offer their ribs as a half rack in addition to the full rack. I love ribs and want to try the ones at the Reds Grille, but I cannot eat a full rack and refuse to pay $23 for a full rack when I will barely be able to eat half of the rack and the other half will go to waste. They need to understand that not everybody has an appetite the size of the moon.4 points

...with roller skating car hops and juke box machines at each table? Maybe it could include a small stage for a doo whop band? Personally, I'd like to see a Barbecue (rib, steak, chicken) restaurant in Rivertown.4 points

OK, so I know it's a double post but so be it. It's time for a trip report. Today, as you know was day 1 for me at Canada's Wonderland. As at Darien Lake, my dad was with me. I'll be on my own tomorrow. But for now, it's the trip report for Day 1. We started by leaving for the park right at 9:50. Our hotel is about a block from the park, and I can see Behemoth from the window, so it was plenty of time. As we pulled into the lot, I handed the attendant my Platinum Pass, and much to my relief, it scanned and I was allowed in without a hitch. We then needed to visit Guest Services to have my dad's E-Ticket printed since we did not have access to a printer when we ordered it. This process went as smoothly as possible, and I was very happy with the quick and easy service. I breathed a sigh of relief when my Platinum Pass worked AGAIN to enter the park and I didn't run into any issues at all! When we entered the park, I stopped for a bit to admire the sight. Their International Street had enough differences from KI's to feel like a very unique place, but the general idea and the way it was laid out had me feeling right at home from the moment I stepped in the gate. I like the idea of Wonder Mountain as the park's centerpiece, I only wish it offered an observation platform. As it stands, it misses out on the biggest benefit of the Eiffel Tower that the other two Kings Parks received as a centerpiece. Still a neat idea, though, as rides can be built around it, which would be sacrilege to attempt with our beloved tower. After taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of International Street, we headed to the right toward the Medieval Faire section. I like the Medieval Faire theming for the most part. There is consistency in the decor of the area and for the most part, it has a Renaissance Fair kind of feel. Though the go-kart track seems more than a bit out of place in this section. The first ride we went to was Dragon Fire. One of the original coasters to open with the park, Dragon Fire is a classic Arrow Looper with two loops and a double corkscrew. Sadly, this ride has another pointless straight, flat stretch that could have been avoided by simply rounding out the drop and first loop. That still bugs me, but since my beloved Phantom's Revenge does it too and I can give that a pass, maybe I need to just get over it . At any rate, I like Dragon Fire well enough, I suppose. I enjoyed Viper more, but they both have the awesome leg room in the 1-1 "wedge". Still, an Arrow Looper is an essential part of any coaster lineup, and parks that don't have one are Knott completely legitimate in my book. After Dragon Fire, we headed to Leviathan, the park's biggest, baddest B&M. We had to wait a few trains to get on Leviathan, but it was worth it. I missed the feel of a B&M seat with no belts. It really took me back to the long lost days of April, 2014 . Leviathan is extremely smooth, even for a B&M. Somehow, it is smoother than Diamondback, Intimidator, and Behemoth which are by no means rough coasters AT ALL. I expected it to be another floaty B&M airtime machine, but boy was I wrong. Leviathan does certainly have a few floaty airtime hills, but it packs some serious positive Gs. I grayed out on it at the bottom of the first drop. It is one of two B&Ms that have been forceful enough to make me gray out, the other being Banshee. Leviathan is a wonderful coaster, and is near the top of my B&M list. After Leviathan, we rode WIld Beast. The name is kind of a misnomer. It leads a Cincinnati boy like me to believe that it will be like The Beast, only more wild. It certainly is no Beast, but it's a solid, albeit rough, old woodie. It is also a clone of the old Coney Island Wildcat, and offers a neat glimpse into coaster history. The ride is decent, but I've ridden so many woodies that I've liked more that it was nothing special to me. Next, we went to The Bat. The Bat is a Vekoma Boomerang with an Arrow Looper train. Specifically, Dragon Fire's former third train. I liked it more than Boomerang at Darien Lake because of the Arrow train, but I still like the new Vekoma trains more. Not a whole lot else to say here. I'm sure you all know what a Boomerang is like. After The Bat, we continued to The Fly, which had the longest line of the day at about 25 minutes. The Fly is a standard Wild Mouse coaster, but it seems to have a somewhat bigger layout. I like wild mouse coasters well enough, but they don't leave you with a lot to say. It was smooth ride for what it was, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. The wait for this ride gave me a chance to realize that I was surrounded by FUNtv. There seemed to be some hiccups in the video feed that are not present at Kings Island. I have heard that central control for FUNtv for the entire chain is at Kings Island so perhaps there was latency in sending the stream from Mason, OH to Vaughan, ON. Otherwise, it is the same basic programming. Same music videos, same news and sports updates, and similar games. On the Behemoth Shuffle game, the ball is under cup number two for what it's worth. After The Fly, I rode Vortex. Unfortunately, it is not my six-inversion beauty, but it is a fun Arrow Suspended Coaster. The layout is very, very similar to The (current) Bat. I know it isn't quite identical, as Vortex is slightly taller and faster. The ride is no rougher or smoother than The Bat, but the brake run behaves differently. The swinging in the brake run seems to not last as long, and you do not get the fun jerking as the train rolls through the block brakes and into the station. The entire brake run also disturbingly shakes for a long time after the brakes stop the train. It is a fun coaster, but since I can ride a nearly identical one at Kings Island whose quirks are more enjoyable to me, Vortex is not a must-ride for me. Next, we headed around the lake and over to the Mighty Canadian Minebuster. This is a solid woodie, and like Wild Beast, a clone of a Coney Island classic. This time, it is a clone of the Shooting Star. I really enjoyed this woodie. It starts with your typical out-and-back layout like you'd find on Racer, but it ends in a forceful upward helix through a tunnel. It offers a unique twist on a familiar classic, and I like this coaster a lot. After this, I went to Skyrider. Unfortunately, my dad was not able to buckle the seatbelt on this one, so I rode alone. Skyrider is a Togo Standup that (to my knowledge) is an exact clone of King Cobra, which I never got to ride. It offered very forceful airtime, literally lifting me off the floor of the train. As much as I liked the airtime, this ride is a major headbanger, and this fact basically ruined the experience. Still, I am happy for the opportunity to (almost) ride this Kings Island classic that I had missed out on. Next up was Time Warp, the park's Zamperla Flying coaster. I don't have a whole lot to say about this one, except that you should not follow the advice of Rocky Horror Picture Show. When at Canada's Wonderland, let's NOT do the Time Warp again. Keeping up our cavalcade of concussive coasters, we headed for Flight Deck. The layout is identical to Darien Lake's Mind Eraser. I enjoyed Mind Eraser. Flight Deck was nothing short of unpleasant. It lived up to the Vekoma "Hang n' Bang" nickname. Not to mention, the entry path is far longer than the one to Kings Island's former Flight Deck. Between the pain and the entry path, it is a decidedly NOT re-rideable coaster. Almost finishing up the loop, we headed to Backlot Stunt Coaster. The trains looked sharp with fresh paint, but the ride made me sad. The helicopter scene doesn't work. At all. You just cruise right through. It is truly depressing. My appreciation for our little forgotten Backlot has increased dramatically. Finally, it was time for Behemoth. Behemoth is pretty much standard fare for a B&M Hyper. Lots of floaty airtime hills and very little in the way of positive G's. It does have two very fun helices back to back. I wish Diamondback had better helices, because those were a lot of fun. It does have seatbelts like Diamondback, and the loading is not bad. They are checking seatbelts and lap bars together in one go, contrary to some reports. I also rode most of the flats and two of the coasters in the kids areas, but since I have to fill a trip report tomorrow anyway, I'll go into more detail on those then. suffice it to say, they have a very unique and interesting assortment of flats, and I look forward to writing that part of the trip report.4 points

The only time I rode SOB was 3 nights before it closed. I went on it three times which is still more than I have on Banshee. Banshee provides excitement while SOB provides excitement, and back spasms.3 points

If I were a potential buyer, the first thing I'd do is have a structural engineering analysis done to determine the state of the ride. Judging from the pictures, the current 'owner' looks to be sitting on a $5k pile of kindling.3 points

5/19: 1. Wife and I used Parent Swap for the first time. It's a good system, but it does seem like some of the Ride Ops were confused by it. 2. Son's first ride on Snoopy Junction. I had some concerns about his ability to sit still without being on someone's lap, but he had no problems. He doesn't seem to enjoy rides a whole lot yet, but he reacts with apprehensive curiosity rather than total panic.3 points

This should be interesting... SO, first of all, there was a crap ton of security waving metal detector wands over everyone who wanted to come in. I cant see why. They havent done that since 2011, i think. Second, Drop Tower was looking like it was ready to be fixed. The catch car was at the bottom of the tower, and there were some big piston-ish things at the bottom. Here is a horrible drawing in Paint of what it looks like. So i rode Banshee first, and that was fun. 2 minute wait for row 1. Then i looked at Drop Tower and tried to figure this out ^ After that, i went and rode AE, (3 minute wait) and it broke. When i got to the gate, and the train came in, and the gates opened, (i was in 3rd to back) i looked, and the handle bar was missing on the right side. So i looked closer, and there were two rusty spiky pipes sticking out where the handle bar should have been. So, i looked in the car, and there, laying on the floor of the car, was the handle bar. So i held it up and showed a ride op, and they started freaking out. Apparently, this has never ever happened. They were all like "OH. MY. GLOB. WHAT? THIS IS REALLY WEIRD. WHAT HAPPENED?! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE! WHAT DO WE DO" etc... So i left that ride, (after riding ) and the rest of the day, nobody was allowed to ride in the back two cars on that train. I forget which train it was... So then i went and got in line for racer, and then there was a protein spill, and i left. (I have a rather weak stomach when it comes to watching somebody else puke) So i went to Flight of Fear. The sign said it had a 30 minute wait, so i decided to wait. It turned out to be more like 20, though. But there was almost no air conditioning. So when i got off, i was all hot and sweaty. So naturally, i went and bought a soda at the Jukebox Diner! I had a raspberry Sprite. It was de-lish. So after my soda, of course, i decided to go and ride the most awesome wooden roller coaster (and the longest) in the world, The Beast. It was the first time i have almost had a protein spill myself after a ride. But, the wait was only about 3 minutes for front row. Oh wait. Before The Beast, i had ridden Backlot Stunt Coaster. (3 minute wait for row 1) That was fun. I didn't feel sick on that one like i did on The Beast. (Yurk) So then, after The Beast, i went and rode the oldest, and second most awesome wooden coaster at Kings Island, The Racer. That was fun, but someone else decided to spill some protein, so i ended up exiting back through the gates and down the entrance ramp. So, then, it was time to go and meet Ohiocolts. Yup . He was there. You probably know that already. But I am mentioning it again. This has been an awkward mentioning of Ohiocolts by thoe124. Anyway, we met up and rode the worlds longest inverted roller coaster, Banshee. (Not to be confused with THE Banshee, which is some invisible coaster that i heard about from some guy last week. He also told me about The Diamondback, and The Son of The Beast.) Banshee was fun, and we rode in row 8. This time it was a 6 minute wait. (Man that girl devours lines!) Then, me and Ohiocolts went and rode Invertigo, which was a 2 minute wait. Then we rode it again. We just switched to the other side of our car. Then, he and I went and rode the second oldest wooden roller coaster at Kings Island, and probably the one with the most name changes, Woodstock Express. This was fun, and he got a really great picture that he didnt buy. Then, he and i went and rode the one and only Zamperla Disko coaster at Kings Island, Surf Dog. This was relatively fun, especially, the hump in the middle. (0 Minute wait!) Then, it was time to go meet #Jonathan (jcgolbe3) in front of #Jonathan (noodle of awesomeness that #Jonathan hates.) He wasnt there yet, so ohiocolts and i went and rode the elevator to the top of the second tallest attraction at Kings Island, Eiffel Tower. This was fun, but then #Jonathan texted ohiocolts, and (i am going to call him Lucas from now on) so he texted Lucas, and we came down. He said no pictures, but we got one anyway... So then, we all went and rode Diamondback. (Not to be confused with The Diamondback, which i mentioned earlier. By the way, does anyone know where to find The Diamondback?) That was fun, and there was a 12 minute wait. This was the second longest line all day. (Flight of Fear was the longest) So after Diamondback, we all went and had dinner at the Jukebox Diner. I thought i had enough money for an actual meal, but nooooo, they raised the prices of things since last year. My $10 didnt buy me any meal, just a box of crappy fries and a drink. (Drink was better) After that, we went and rode the only coaster at Kings Island themed almost exactly to the Paramount film Italian Job, (but not quite, since Kings Island is no longer owned by Paramount), Backlot Stunt Coaster. (wow i have improved on this TR greatly since i started) That was fun, and then, i rode it again, while Lucas and #Jonathan went and rode Vortex. (By the way, does anyone know where to find The Vortex? I cant find it anywhere!) But after they rode Vortex, and I rode Backlot Stunt Coaster, all the rides closed due to rain. So we ran for cover in the Dino-Store. Then, after the rain, i went over to the Runts machine by the Dino-Store, and found that the cap was unlocked. So I told an employee, and he was like "Really? I want some!" So i took some too. (as naturally i would) It was de-lish. Just like the raspberry Sprite. So, after the Runts, #Jonathan left, and me and Lucas went to one of the only two indoor Premier Rides Spaghetti Bowl Coasters in the world themed to The Outer Limits, that just happened to have horrible air conditioning today, Flight of Fear. (Not to be confused with The Flight of Fear... please can anyone help me find these invisible rides?!) We rode three times, with 2 minute waits each time. The change in my pocket + the restraint did not work out very well. (I now have a bruise) After we rode Flight of Fear, we went and rode Banshee again. But we didnt get to ride it because it was down. Oh wait. Somewhere between Banshee and Planet Snoopy, me and Lucas rode one of the only 2 Giant Frisbee rides in the US, Delirium. So when Banshee was closed, Lucas and I split up, and he went and rode The Bat (not to be confused with Bat) and ate dinner. I meanwhile proved that I knew more about Invertigo than the ride ops working there. So then, Invertigo started working, and I got to ride it all by my self. Yay. By that time, Banshee was running again, and Lucas and I rode the 3rd to last train of the day. And then the park closed. And then, we left. And then i got into the car. Then my dad drove me home. Then, i got home, and started writing this TR. The end. -thoe1242 points

In line for Beast last year on 7-20, the ride op had incredible enthusiasm. Screaming "woo!" over and over, getting the crowd all psyched up, talking like a Ren-fest berserker. I filmed about 15 minutes of it. That performance was impressive. When the train returned he would say"You faced The Beast! You passed the test! How was it?!" He had them cheering before and after the ride. He's the best ride op I've ever seen.2 points

I agree that Universal is a 1 - 2 day park and there is little reason to stay late at their parks, no great nighttime entertainment. Disney I would agree is 3-4 day minimum if only doing the parks. Although I would argue AK is a half day park and HS is a full day with nighttime entertainment. This will soon change once the new nighttime show is added at AK. Also MK is very hard to do in 1 day with average crowds, if you do it in only 1 day you will be darn near exhausted the next. One of the major mistakes folks make is not giving themselves breaks while at Disney. They are much needed and add to the enjoyment of the trip. A 3 hour afternoon break is much better than that midday show, parade, and ride on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin.2 points

At the risk of sounded redundant, I will say it again: Based upon my experience I find that 3-day holiday weekends such as Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day are not as crowded as you think. For example I was at CP Memorial Day Weekend 2 years ago and, even with the free military tickets, the park still was not that crowded. I am just speculating but I think most people simply would rather do other things on such holidays rather than going to an amusement park such as a family picnic or a ballgame.2 points

Since Kings Island already has a large investment in the Reds Hall Of Fame Grille, I don't see Chickie's and Pete's opening a sports bar there. (The page that upstop linked mentions limited-menu locations at water parks; perhaps we'll get a quick-service variant.) A wider menu variety, especially with more helpful options, would be especially appreciated when walking around all day in hot weather. Burgers, deep-fried items, burritos, Skyline Chili, and cheese/pepperoni pizza don't always cut it. I hope that the next addition isn't (just) CrabFries and (more) deep-fried chicken. I echo what others have said about a lack of inspiration at the Festhaus. I wouldn't mind keeping pizza at that food counter, but there should be other fresh choices. Get rid of the pre-made chicken fingers, fries, etc; perhaps add soup, a premium salad, vegetables, and meat dish(es) that aren't deep fried. Individual preparation or too much variety wouldn't work well there, however, as the Festhaus attracts a lot of people with a relatively small food service area. Another sit-down restaurant, ideally in the International Restaurant space, would also be much appreciated. The profit margin on food is likely to be much lower than at quick service locations, but a significant subset of customers prefer that dining be an experience. I know that my family made fewer trips to Kings Island after the International Restaurant closed in the late 1990s. Thankfully, the "people gotta eat" mentality is gone. By the way, I'd really like to be able to order more halibut tacos somewhere at Kings Island. Those were excellent.2 points

Yes, I stand corrected. My legal vocabulary isn't quite as extensive as many on here. In fact, Terpy has explained this to me before (probably more than once), I just can't memorize the term for it. Would it be a service mark? But yeah, I've posted about that *trademark (*yes, its not technically a trademark) for a hotel before. And no one has really said much about it. I can see it as a real possibility considering that the closest hotel of reasonable size is in Ferdinand (like 10 minutes away.) Also, I believe that Koch Development Co. owns a significant amount of land that across the highway that runs parallel to Voyage. Its currently just a large open field. This would be a prime location for a hotel IMO. Or somewhere connecting to their gigantic parking lot. Does someone know anything about *trademark extensions? Is there a point in extending it if there are no plans to use it?2 points
