Maybe I'm biased, but this thread has certainly given me the impression that we have a much more informed community here today than we did a decade ago!7 points

An appropriate homage to Paramount Parks and that company's attention to upkeep of themeing and even to Son of Beast itself, to be sure.4 points

I went inside the Kingdom the other day and wanted to see T3 up close. In all honesty the red gives it a refreshed new feeling. Felt like going back to 1998 (even though I was 2 at the time). I have a really good picture, but under contract, I cannot share it until April 14th.3 points

I mean they have the not so eternal flame that ran out of fuel and wasn't refilled with the logo and 2000-2009 at the entrance of Banshee.3 points

If I had one, I would never consider selling it because im a Kings Island hoarder, I still have reciepts and tickets from when Paramount owned the park.3 points

A local news station made did a story about this and posted the news on facebook. There was at least 200 comments on that facebook posting and each commented said straight up that the fair was too expensive. Someone also said it is just cheaper to go to either Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World then the fair. In my opinion the fair is the same thing every year and nothing new are changes occur. The same set up, same rides, its just boring and it is expensive.3 points

I have a theory about all of this: Part 1: The Bat part of it is a diversion. The Bat just got updated for 2014; I'd be surprised to see something else (besides removal) happen to it anytime within the next few seasons. (Then again, I also thought Mantis getting floorless trains was highly improbable, so...) Part 2: Vortex is either the main point of all of this, or it's another diversion. The mention of Thunder Road, The Bat, and everything old becoming new again would lead me to think that Vortex is going to receive a refurbishment or other project of some sort. Specifically based on the mention of Thunder Road, which recently received an entire rebuild courtesy Great Coasters International, I'm speculating that Vortex will either 2a. Be refurbished á la Phantom's Revenge to improve transitions or even completely rebuild the ride after the first drop, or 2b. Be removed completely and replaced by a Chance Rides coaster. By the by, I know nothing, so don't take this as gospel. (Especially not you, Lance Hart, if you're reading this!) I think I'm almost certainly wrong about this; it's just fun to guess. I've literally never been correct when it comes to Terp's hints.2 points

I'm just intrigued none are ready to jump out on any limbs, including myself. But for the sake of discussion, I will say I hope it's just something as simple as improved theming*. A "Bat Cave" under and around station would be awesome. And I would pray it's not the trains, very short ride, the simple restraint check they have keeps it's capacity up. Removal, I also pray, is not the point. A diversion, this I find most likely, though that begs the question, why? Maybe those attending the Holiday Meetup, will shed some light? * Upon review, this is not really simple. But you get my meaning, I hope.2 points

........Meanwhile festivals like The Salt Festival, and Wool Festival have been ever so slightly been decreasing and few even know of them anymore. Plus, once you go one year you've seen them all. I rarely even go to them anymore and to be honest, the crowd has really been dying off due to economics or due to death to be frank.2 points

And SOB wasn't the first wooden looping coaster, right? Just the only one at the time with the biggest loop?2 points

I have no idea how many times I rode Diamondback. All I know is I marathoned it one day until I felt sick (at least 25 times) and did the same thing another day. In all honesty I probably have ridden it a good 60-70 times this year. Although Banshee and The Beast were a close second.2 points

Facebook is a registered trademark. As such, it is always capitalized here. I would have thought the fair would have had a banner year in 2014, what with the new setup, the new rides and the new $9.99 attraction (when purchased at Kroger), The New Kentucky Kingdom.2 points

Nah. I just get my name on tombstones. Fake ones when I help. Maybe not so if I didn't! Terp, who isn't gonna find out...he hopes!2 points

A tension cord has now been put into place on the current support column being worked on for extra support as the crews work into the evening. More pieces to this column are currently being brought quickly to the site in what looks like an effort to be able to finish early tomorrow morning / Monday morning. I dont care what kind of weather it has to be, I will go to Kings Island. A winter event sounds nice, I havent actually attended WinterFest when it was at Kings Island, but I seen videos and it looked like something that the whole family could enjoy, im all in if something like WinterFest returns.1 point

Huh? Most state fairs were UP this year, many of them dramatically. To blame the Kentucky State Fair's problems on fairs in general is disingenuous, to say the least. There was every reason the Kentucky State Fair should have had a banner year. It didn't. There is even an investigation going on. And if Kentucky Kingdom, at $9.99 if bought at Kroger, wasn't part of the solution then it IS part of the problem. The fates of the Fsir Board and the New Kentucky Kingdom are intertwined. What affects one affects the other. The single most important day to the Kingdom's forseeable future is the first Tuesday in November, less than a year away. Its impotence cannot be exaggerated.1 point

What major investors in Kentucky Kingdom are campaigning hard to have legal gaming in the Commonwealth? How many of the Democrat state officials are also involved in this effort? How's THAT going to affect the Kingdom, the Fairgrounds and their future? How would that be received by much of the rest of the state? http://kywins.com http://kywins.com/our-coalition/1 point

I still, to this day, am a big fan of the Flintstones. I just don't think they'd make it very long today. "Wilma, stop cryin' Like that, the neighbors will think I'm beatin' ya" Seen that the other day, I was just floored. Then there was the Winston ads.1 point

You have to remember about reviews. Most people who experience something and enjoy it , go on with their lives afterwards. It's only those that have a bad experience or are disgruntled against something that post negative reviews as they feel it helps them get back at the place of experience. It's the same with practically every type of review. Just like accepting bids for services, throw out the highs and the lows and pick one in the middle.1 point

Scooby was brilliant. If a big dog like that could be a scaredy cat, it could help inspire confidence in the little dog owners watching at home.1 point

It has been an interesting day for watching Fury325 construction as the tallest support column section is currently being installed which means that Monday or Tuesday, the coaster may very well be topped off at its peak height of 325 ft.1 point

To be honest this park has gotten far too political. The park needs to be able to pay itself off by x amount of years or it goes. The State, or whoever it was by the state, found the park to be an investment for KY to have profits with to balance out the revenues made with Indiana and Ohio. Both of which have high profit parks with major additions in the 2014/2015 seasons. Tides are turning, as you can see with this year's election which I won't delve too far in because it is too political for this forum site which is strictly not about that kind of work. The major thing that I think will make or break KK is this upcoming season: 3 good sized coasters, a good sized water park, and a fairly large family area. If the T3 project is a dump then yeah I would like to see some changes or better yet some movement to the correct changes. Sure I hope for the best, but with this economy and what is going on nationally and internationally we need to invest in parks who would succeed. Now let's say KK fails and it is a flop, what's next? I would rather see Beech Bend actually get an expansion to keep revenue and profit in KY so that one park in KY could rise above how KK did. BB (irony) could use a larger waterpark, which the water park at KK has a plethora of amazing well to do water amenities for park guests. If not that, then possibly move KK farther east to Northern KY, there are places and space where it could develop and grow more than it does in Louisville.1 point

Coaster Crew posted on Facebook this morning that they are doing away with their "regular" $10/year membership option, in order to "stay competitive with other Coaster Enthusiast Clubs, and to become more reputable to Parks to be included in their sponsored events" and also for the purpose of "satisfying some parks policies on membership prices allowing club members to be apart of park held events such as CoasterStock, Holliwood Nights, and select Media Days." This change is effective December 1. There will now be just one membership option, which will be $25/year for a single person plus an additional $5 for each additional member in the same household at the same address. This new membership structure will come with more perks, including but not limited to: Existing "regular" (non-Platinum) memberships will be grandfathered in, and an option will be available to upgrade such a membership to the new system.1 point

Plus it will thin out the people just signing up for cheap to attend events. Join the group to be a part of it, not just to be able to attend an event. Sent from a signal coming out of the Vega system.1 point
