  1. Such a gem. I mean Terpy, not the rides in question. As he approaches 50,000 posts, and can be frustrating as heck, a true asset for this site.

  2. Yep. We try to identify guesses as such around here. Some day, long after we are gone, researchers will dive into this site to document Kings Island's heritage. Let's try not to lead them astray!

  3. A lot of shorter kiddie coasters do that. Rewards the little ones for patiently waiting so long, while, paradoxically, lengthening their wait!

  4. Will keep that in mind. I tend to get ahead of myself. From time to time.

  5. An 890-square-foot apartment, with no yard to maintain, etc. would be "luxury" to me. I currently live in a HOUSE that is only 864 square feet and needs repairs. Perspective. One person's trash is another person's luxury.

  6. I am pretty sure the King Cobra track pieces were photographed during a Beastbuzz backstage tour in 2006. See this video:

  7. Sid and Marty Kroft were puppeteers that designed the Hanna Barbera's Banana Splits characters and thus their puppet show was incorporated into Coney Island along with the Hanna Barbera characters. The Firestone inflatable theater had marionettes, but I can't recall if they were associated with H/B. Edit....Apparently it was S&M Kroft theater. http://quasi-interestingparaphernaliainc.blogspot.com/2012/06/kings-island-brochure-1976.html

  8. I love the direction Holiday World is taking to really put themselves on the map. Thunderbird looks to be a fantastic ride and I'm excited to hear about the new near-misses (I think it has something to do with that windmill shown in the animation videos). Can't wait to see this thing fly!

  9. http://www.fallsatlanden.com/floorplans.aspx That doesn't exactly look like a luxury apartment to me. Cheap, builder-grade finishings. Laminate counter tops, white appliances, luxurious? Methinks not. I mean, it looks like a decent amount of space for a decent price but there's nothing that shouts luxury to me about those video tours.

  10. You state they own many luxury apartments and condos Then state the closest to KI, runs about $895/month. I don't know much about rental rates in Cincinnati, but that hardly sounds like a "luxury" rate. Being unfamiliar with the area you quoted, I don't know how far away from KI it is, or if it's location is less desirable.

  12. KC was also from a much simpler time without a lot of the computer-aided testing that is available these days. That should theoretically make it so that only routine testing is required prior to assembly on site. However, some manufacturers (cough INTAMIN cough) find ways to mess that up. 18. http://www.eagleswingszipline.com/ Has anyone here ever done this? I'm starting to plan for my trip to Holiwood Nights in May already, and am thinking about squeezing that in on Friday before the event since I should have a few hours to kill before the event (I will be leaving mid-day Friday so I don't want to spend an extra $21 for a few extra hours in the park on Friday when I can spend $26 to spend all day Sunday in the park instead). It's a tad bit pricey ($45 or $69 depending on the option you choose), but it sounds like a lot of fun and I've never done ziplines before. Also, on a related note, if anyone would be interested in splitting the cost of a cabin at Lake Rudolph for the event, let me know. I know the event isn't until May, but I'd like to get lodging booked soon so I can get something close to the park.

  19. I've ridden a 306 foot B&M. If the 325 foot one is as good as that one, I think we're all in for a real treat.

  20. I would love to see the park how it was back in 1972. Alas, given my lack of age and a time machine (cue Doctor Who pun), this seems out of reach. But really, great photo.

  21. I've never been to Holiday World, but from the blog pictures, I'm guessing they are moving Eagle's Flight to be near Thunderbird's launch. It makes sense sense both rides are (or were) bird themed.

  22. From what I remember, it was a neat little ride.

  23. Yep, I remember that, now. I think it went around the track twice, faster the second time.

  25. Time sure does Time sure does fly. I don't remember Mad Mouse, or Little Eagle, It's has been twenty years since I was there, though.

  26. Not necessarily. Photo tours were given to journalists, brokers, auction companies and others more than once that season (and other seasons). Terp, who...uh...should know. And does. Jumping to conclusions can frequently lead one down the wrong road....

  27. The other park you remember is Family Kingdom, home of the Swamp Fox. Corkscrew did not go to Mexico. It went to Bogata, Columbia after the 1999 season. Galaxi was closed in 1997 and, it is widely believed, was scrapped at that time. Hurricane was destroyed. Mad Mouse and Little Eagle both went to the now defunct NASCAR SpeedPark in Myrtle Beach, which closed in April, and are thought to be in storage. It will soon be ten years since Pavilion closed. That's hard to believe. 2006 was its last season.

  28. They have a lot of the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion flat rides over at Broadway at the Beach. None of the coasters went with it though, not sure on where they ended up.

Being unfamiliar with the area you quoted, I don't know how far away from KI it is, or if it's location is less desirable. It's about a mile from the park. The website for the property calls them "resort style" apartments, so I assumed it was luxury. Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk

  33. I can honestly say I never did. Then again, I told myself the day I was emancipated I would NEVER wear shorts again. And I haven't. I also don't eat off of trays. I'm funny like that.

  37. that's sort of what I was thinking. If I were guessing, they'll look like the new apartments off 741 west of I-71. I can't help but wonder though what is gong to be the bigger complaint: noise from I-71 to the west or the noise 6 months out of the year across the street, not to mention traffic issues are various points of the year. KI Inn's time has well passed- but I'm not real certain that there'll be a waiting list to get into housing at this "prime" location.

  38. That matter was also legally settled. The Six Flags that did all these things is not the Six Flags of today. The corporate entity is different, the leadership is different, the management is different, the philosophy is different. To conflate the two is not unlike saying Kings Island or Cedar Fair management today is the same as it was during the Paramount Parks or Kinzel era, respectively. It is not.

  39. I thought about that year too. Wasn't Back to the Future also in '85? '82 still has the majority of my favorites of all time though.
