  9. Just as so many were so sure pre-Banshee. Past performance may or may not be an indicator of future performance. Beware a diversion. Or as Mr. Shaggy advised yesterday on another matter, hold onto your hats. Or not. Loose articles are not permitted on the ride. You may give loose articles to an attendant. However, we are not responsible for them. Or was it a locker? I...forget.

  10. FINALLY the end is coming near to the 2014-2015 Off Season! The coasters are testing, the rides are finishing up, and the gates are close to lifting as Kings Island will spring into 2015 with world class thrills and family fun. With that, this is the final week of our KIC OSPS 2014-2015, drawing an end to our beloved Polls. I will have to admit, the discussion that I have stirred is phenomenal, and I once again thank everyone who has responded and put in their thoughts of the polls i have made. That being said, I would like for us to take a step back and reflect on the KIC OSPS 2014-2015, which poll was most popular? What were your favorite moments during the Poll series? Also, as an added bonus, I will be adding one poll question to this poll DAILY! That's right, one last huzzah until the final day of the Off Season! So make sure to savor the polls as they come, as this is the FINAL week starting on Monday! (Some other discussion topics for the main poll: Do you want this to come back? Do you have any comments on new ways for this to return for the 2015-2016 Off Season?) [PS: Many of you are probably wondering: "BB1, why did you post this so early?" Well, I may not be able to post on Sunday due to a family function, so this way I could bring out some new content a tad bit early!]

  11. I think I underestimated this coaster. I LOVE Millenium Force and this layout looks much more interesting and fun. I may actually get my money's worth with the Platinum Pass this when I visit the area in September!

  13. Hah! The plans for the season so far include: my sixth FUN park, at least six parks, but no SIX parks. Not sure how many campgrounds this year...There's only so much time in the summer. Pick and choose. I'll get what I'll get and won't throw a fit. Edited to add that I was apparently also unintentionally cross-threading. But truly, there is never enough time. We make the best choices we can with the information we have. Living in the what-if means we sometimes miss the here and now. So easy to say but sometimes so very hard to do.

  14. Back in 2008 I wanted to get the family passes and I wanted to get them at the lowest price of the season in the fall for the 2009 season. My oldest was just under 48" and I was curious of this exact situation. I called guest services and I was told that what hieght they are at point of purchase is what will hold true for the season of the pass being purchased. Sure enough the 2009 season my son was over 48" and over 50" by the end of the season. Not once were we ever stopped for his height and we went over a dozen times that season. Couple of things, I believe, that you pay one price at point of sale. You shouldn't have to worry about getting caught and paying more later down the line. You paid the price with no intention of deceit. These are kids we are talking about, good business practices will go along way in that customer returning. Also, if they do ask you nicely to upgrade to adult, is that price based on current prices or when your orginal purchase was made? Either way it is good business to honor the original contract, at original point of sale.

  16. November comes. A season comes first. Figures will be watched. Studied closely. By many. Ins. Outs. Ins soon to be outs. Outs who may or may not become ins. Those figures may well become election issues. And, if they do, analagous 2016 figures, if any... Bruce Lunsford. A history. Issue? Ed Hart. A history. Issue? Ed Glasscock. A history. Issue? And so many more. And who knows what others may Koch up?

  17. And the fact is we all have only so many weekends (or weeks or days) in this life. We do not typically know how many, but the number is finite. Decisions we often choose to make without knowing all the facts. And not deciding is deciding. Enjoy. Make good choices. For, as my sainted mother (in my eyes) used to say, "The time will come when you can't." True of us all. Spend your time on this orb wisely.

  25. And now let's send it to Meteorologist Banshee for your latest weather update! As of right now, for Opening Day, we are expecting a 50% chance of rain. High will be 62 degrees with a low of 43 degrees. Of course, that can change. Thank you Banshee for that weather update! With that being said, getting back to crowds before the park opens. If the weather stays like it is expected now, from what I've seen from your guys' posts, the front gate probably won't see a lot of people waiting outside. So I may either arrive at 8:30 or 9:00. Don't know yet. Still have more than a week.

  30. I'm not sure why so many people think that KI needs or will get a giga. No North American park has installed them outside of Cedar Fair. The parks receiving them have market areas that are more populous than Kings Island's. Not to mention, part of Kings Island's market intersects Cedar Point's, a park famous for "building them bigger". Bigger isn't always better.

  31. Old lady bones made me giggle. While I doubt you you will regret either park, I would choose KD over Carowinds. You might plan your route to also include Dorney if you go to KD. it is not a huge park, but definitely worth a visit if you want to get more out of your pass / trip if you have the time. Carowinds is not a bad park by any means. It is easily navigated, nicely landscaped and very clean. I have been twice and would go back as long as I had help with driving. I think they might be experiencing growing pains at the moment. Last summer it was a much slower paced park. Now it's packed and from what it seemed they were a bit stressed over the crowds.

  38. Well said. Very well said. NJFTP gives me that same sense of impending fun as I stroll down Dream Street, passing many elements very similar to Kings Island. There are many reasons for that. Heck, Racer stood in as the "hand model" for Rolling Thunder when it was announced. Who'd a thunk the newer of the two attractions would be the first to go? Now that that place is bringing on Holiday In The Park....

  41. I think both parks are great, and I feel lucky to be able to visit both relatively easily (KI is much closer, but CP is just a half-day drive). Both have amazing rides, with CP holding a slight edge in that department, given my own preferences. I don't really care for musical acts and the like, so that's not a point of differentiation for me, and food isn't a deal breaker either. Where CP falls short for me is the optimistic freedom I feel from the moment I step inside the entry gates. I think that's partially due to the size of the park - I feel the need for a plan of attack, so I start to manage my day like a work project. But mostly I am underwhelmed by the design of that front plaza (sorry, I'm sure it has a name, but I don't know it off the top of my head). I do like walking under Gatekeeper, that part is great. But when I first enter the park, I can't figure out what's going on: kiddie rides, concessions, games, merchandise, lockers - but not enough of any one of those things to give the entry space an identity. It feels kind of cramped too. On the flip side, no matter how many times I walk through the gates at Kings Island, I am giddy at the sight of the fountain and Eiffel Tower. There's plenty of wide open space, and even the International Street shops and restaurants make me happy (love the smell of Greaters and Cinnabon in the morning)! I could do without the teams of staff photographers assuming I want each of them to take our group picture...but they are always pleasant and don't seem to mind when we say "no, thanks." To sum it up, for me, when I get to Kings Island it says "Welcome, Friend. You are in for a treat!" At Cedar Point, I feel like, "Congratulations, Genius. You found it."
