B&M Giga coaster chain lifts
King Ding Dong replied to Buckeye Brad's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There are endless formulations of steel. One need only look at the different specialty steels involved in high end cutlery, especially the Japanese knives, to see that. It may be the weight/durability issue was solved with a lighter, more durable (and likely more expensive) formulation. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this factors significantly into the the additional cost of going 300'+. We may not know for a long time as these things tend to be tightly held secrets. From my understanding we still do not know the precise formulation of Ancient Roman Concrete that inexplicably still holds up to this day. Boggles the mind. So in conclusion: -
Will have to mull Oreo over for awhile. I kind of like it, but the colors are not right and it is kind of Androidish.

Someone has never watched Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!” (Gomer was kind of the original Forrest Gump) I even learned how to plug and spike a watermelon watching that “family show”. A Quonset hut is a cheap prefabricated building made of corrugated and galvanized sheet metal with a semicircular roof. Used extensively in WWII and after primarily as barracks for troops. Many were surplussed after the war so you will see them still around, frequently used as barns, storage sheds, vehicle storage etc.

Am I reading that page wrong? Items 1 and 2 indicate the term had a negative connotation up until the 80’s but after that (3 & 4) it’s meaning became positive and appears to remain that way currently.

You are right. What we need is different nicknames depending on the vibe we are to project. Rapper, stripper and pornstar nicknames are required by law What other types do we need?

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
King Ding Dong replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
From WaPO Are international workers covered under Medicare? Sounds like a supercharged Medicare-For-All. I doubt the current administration would go for that. Also the test itself has always been free, but not the associated medical expenses to get the test. Those may be covered after meeting your deductible. (mine is about $3,000 per person) What is the incentive to get tested? Its not like there is a cure, all that can be done is manage symptoms anyway and now you have the govt monitoring you and dictating your options and possibly deporting you. -

I presume most of those international workers do not have good quality heath insurance plans as well. Could they be stuck with a $3,000 medical bill if they need a test like this Miami man.? I believe a quarter of the US population is not covered under an employer sponsored plan. Are those people going to rush to get tested if the test costs $3K or just tough it out and keep going to work as best they can? Are seasonal CF employees covered under a plan? I doubt it. If some do test positive, where are they going to quarantine them? Set up cots at Sports Force Park? Who is going to care for their basic needs like food while under quarantine? -
Living in CBus I have learned there can easily be a 10-15F or more difference between Mason and Sandusky. Often that is the determining factor on which park we go to for the day and frequently works in KI’s favor if we are interested in the waterpark.

Agreed. By that standard TTD would still be in testing.

Is 58F to warm for you?

That is so wordy. How about shortening it to just BO?

Withholding humanitarian aid for political reasons is not a good look. Not saying they wouldn't have the right to negotiate some larger deal for it but the political capital costs internationally would be enormous. Besides this is a global problem not a country specific one, there is noting to gain and everything to loose with an unchecked contagion. Individual vaccines are nowhere near 100% effective and require herd immunity to be effective. The interesting question here is if people will be willing to take an unproven, rushed to market vaccine with unknown effects or demand it has been thoroughly vetted using current US protocols first and with known risks that can be mitigated. This isn't a Hollywood movie where it always works at the 11th hour and everyone laughs and hugs. -
I would call CS up at CP and see if it can be done over the phone.

Just need to modify the O'Reilly Autoparts jingle a bit. O', O', O', O'Ryan....Giga Coaster. Personally I never found Mystic Timbers lacking in personality....some people are so critical.

Hold up guys. I have not watched it and probably won’t but once this kind of thing is out in the public sphere and people are talking about it this changes into news. Controversial agreed, but i find it absurd that it is not something we can discuss. It exists, it is real and pretending it doesn’t exist and gaging speech serves no compelling interest, even the park’s. Sounds like it is something we should condemn but censor? Nah, I don’t think that is what we really want here. The truth and press are not the enemy of the people. Not in this country, it makes us better.

But Beastie is shorter than the official name: The Beast
-
So what is Orion’s nickname going to be? Many people have nicknames for coasters, some just shorten the name when casually referring to one, some like to put a Y, I or IE at the end. Mysti, Beastie, Maggie, Millie etc. I get it, some names just don’t roll off the tongue well, Magnum XL 2000, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Top Thrill Dragster. Just to many syllables. Uncle Tony up north gets his panties in a bunch over coaster nicknames, but Don and Chad to the best of my knowledge seem fine with it. I will start with a few ideas, not necessarily good ones but I am not getting paid for this. O’Ryan Ori Onion (just carry that r all the way down and there you go. Plus anyone sticking “The” in front of it would automatically self parody.) Go.
