As a fellow guest I generally just inform them of the policy in a friendly non-confrontational, hey just trying to help you out manner. Let them know it is not allowed and that I have seen them confiscate phones from people before and I would hate to see that happen to them.

KICentral Apparel is now available!
King Ding Dong replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I know the shirts are more expensive but any chance they can print them on all synthetic? I don’t wear cotton to the park. -
No Big Cats, you know the kind that can jump off the stage and terrorize and maul people and get PETA to protest the park. But bears can suffice. Regarding local bands or HS music groups do you really think a significant crowd is going to choose that over rides? The few minutes of darkness at the park is precious to me. If there isn’t an upcharge for it then it is an expense. Does that bring people to the park who otherwise wouldn’t be there? Do they cut the budget for the other live shows? Maybe, but the business case just seems really thin. You just don’t see parks doing this kind of thing anymore and there is a reason for that.

How Far Do You Live From Kings Island (and how do you get there)
King Ding Dong replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
Lol. That should be the another question for this thread. Does the ride to the park or the ride home feel longer? For me the ride home feels longer, so does the walk from the gate to my car. -
I don’t understand. Do the ride ops staple you or do the forces staple it down as the ride progresses? Either way I don’t see understand how ones size makes much of a difference. Being bigger I am always stapled in from git go.

I haven’t studied them but seem very similar to Banshee.

How Far Do You Live From Kings Island (and how do you get there)
King Ding Dong replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
From my house it is 87 Miles to KI and 100 Miles to CP. but with all the two lane roads, railroad crossings and small towns it takes 2.25 hours to CP and 1.5 to KI. If the weather is good I take 315 south through OSU to 71, but if there is any rain I stick to 71 the entire way. -
Like what? A Cat Show?
-
So I just asked my wife about Pentantonix who just happened to be visiting with her RCA rep at the Sony building in NYC this morning. They are a very niche act, like Christian groups, that can draw a crowd to the park that might not normally attend. They do very well and by the nature of their act their shows are not very expensive to produce. In addition the non-discounted gate price at Darian is substantially less than KI making the total cost for someone to attend much less. In short, niche groups with dedicated followings can succeed at a park but getting someone to pay $50 or more for a concert ticket plus park admission is difficult and carries high risk for the park and promoters. Concerts are no longer “promotional tours” for an album like they were before the digital age. They have to make money.

Now if they could just finish with 71 so it isn’t rougher than Racer
-
Just like WindSeeker, I am resigned to the probability it will just never happen. @Maverick44 becuase there is no profit in booking non-Christian artists anymore. Can you name some other regional parks that book rock/pop acts?
-
I guess they should tear out that Rivertown Freestyle then.

What is so great about the other dives? Valravn is the only one I have been on and while the first dive is fun the rest is just ho hum. Certainly a lot more fun to be had up there. I think watching it is just as fun as riding it.

What about that underutilized corporate picnic area?
-
Chris 1. My dog’s leash is underutilized but I still find it valuable to have around for when I do need it. So is the 4WD on my Grand Cherokee. 2. Neither is my 2002 Grand Cherokee but it gets me around well enough. 3. In 25 or so visits to KI I can’t recall ever seeing Timberwolf except maybe from the top of a ride and from that distance I sure didn’t notice it looking bad. 4. No, it is not readily available to the guest in the park. Is the corporate picnic area? I bet it is underutilized as well, but KI likes to have it around to make some profits sometimes. If KI bulldozes it what is going to replace that lost revenue stream? If KI could increase revenue by utilizing more than they do now, why don’t they? They like to make money.

Another qualifier in my book is dedicated drink stand. That leaves noAction Zone out.
-
I voted no becuase it is clearly still profitable to have it. When and if it becomes not profitable or they need the space for something more profitable they can do something with it. Like put in a Skyride station.

@KatieF I would call both Kroger and KI Guest Services about that. I don’t know the Winterfest schedule but if the tickets you bought were indeed not good for Winterfest that is like selling you a bridge in Brooklyn.

I wonder if that means one train operations this weekend as well. Will be there Saturday afternoon because the school orchestra is going to Sandusky for a performance in the morning then heading to the park. As long as most of the other rides are running it should be fine. I have already prepped the boys that we will not likely be riding SV this time.
