  1. As far as I know, the fountain will be similar to how it has been the last few years. The clock is over by Tilt A Whirl.
  2. Rides come and go. Kings Island is a different place now than what it was even five years ago. Things change, and there is nothing we can do about it. If things didn`t change, look where we would be now. There would be no internet, or computers. Simple things like communication are now instantaneous, whereas before, you often would have to wait for letters to arrive via snail mail.
  3. And the plot continues to thicken... Apollo, it seems, has run into trouble with several of their las attempted buyouts. They do own some pretty notable brands though. AMC Entertainment, Claire`s, Caeser`s Entertainment, Norwegian Cruise Line, Centurey 21 and Coldwell Banker realtors, and CKE, which owns Hardee`s and Carl`s Jr. restaurants.
  4. And for anyone wondering, the company that bestowed those safety awards on Kings Island is Jeff Ellis & Associates. They train and certify hundres of lifeguards at parks all across the country. Some of the other parks that use Jeff Ellis and Associates include Hersheypark, Walt Disney World, and Cincinnati`s Coney Island In fact, Coney Island`s lifeguards also just won the Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award as well.
  5. Just to the left of the Ice Cream stand in the Action Zone. The exit to the ride was just to the left of th current exit for Delirium (to your right as you exit Delirium). Before the Action Zone overhaul in 1999, King Cobra used to exit directly into a gift shop.
  6. Awesome photo. I believe that that picture was from when the park shut down King Cobra after there was a death on Shockwave at Kings Dominion. (Right around 1999 or 2000, I believe). As always, excellent photos, Paul. I look forward to #98 on Monday!
  7. I`ve been listening to the show. It is very entertaining. Congrats guys. Can`t wait to hear future shows.
  8. All is fine for me, and I`m running Firefox...
  9. They did that last year too. Doesn`t make much sense, especially with the nice weather we have been enjoying this spring. But I`m sure they have their reasons.
  10. Check out the images that Coney posted to their Facebook. Coney is installing a floral clock this year by the Tilt A Whirl! While there are no new rides this year, they are certainly focusing on fresh landscaping! It is looking good!
  11. I agree. If played too much, people will tune out the commercial because they find it annoying. I still liked that song they had in their commercials the last couple of years. It was catchy, but not annoying.
  12. Its clear that Ouimet gets that in this day and age, you need to be current with technology, and the way people communicate these days (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Under Kinzel, technology seemed to be an after thought, and something that couldn`t really help drive new customers to the parks or build buzz about a new product. I also wonder if the loyalty program for pass holders isn`t a way for the park to get more "data" on their pass holders, as the article seems to indicate. (Kind of like Kroger Plus cards allow Kroger to gain information on their customer`s buying habits and allow them to target discounts to their buying patterns.)
  13. That is true. Texas would make for a really long drive! Granted, some people have visited Coney before that we're from Texas (although I'm sure they weren't here just to visit Coney).
  14. Paul, you continue to impress and wow me with pictures that I have never seen before. Simply amazing! Keep up the great work!
  15. I wonder how well attended this is. $24 seems like a pretty good bargain. Too bad it all the way up in Cleveland. That's a bit of a long drive from Cincinnati.
  16. Only Dane has access to edit these files. I know how to edit these files (and even have DreamWeaver on my laptop), and I have built ConeyIslandCentral.com, a sister site to KIC.
  17. Send a personal message to myself or one of the other moderators. General users can`t just upload photos to the photo gallery, only administrators can do that.
  18. Yes, Flume originally had a huge queue. The queue area was reduced to its current state with the renovation of the ride for the 2001 season. Even Racer has a considerably large queue. Not to mention that when The Beast originally opened, it actually had another set of switchbacks, that resided where the photo booth and the exit path now reside. Keep in mind that back in those days a large crowd was not dispersed among as many attractions as it is today. So using simple math, a crowd of 10,000 people with ten rides means 1,000 people for each ride. Now if you have twenty rides and get 10,000 people, then there are just 500 people per ride. Yes, this is an extreme over simplification of the situation, but the concept is the same. Great photos, as always, Paul!
  19. And I must say that the new color scheme on Invertigo looks a lot nicer than the old red and yellow. Hopefully it doesn`t fade as fast as the old color scheme.
  20. Yes, we are aware of the issue. Unfortunately, only Dane has the ability to edit and fix the coding on the site...
  21. Your collection of historical pictures continues to amaze me, Paul. I love them.
  22. Again, excellent photos Paul. I really love the old Kings Island logo.
  23. I find the ERT sessions a little puzzling. I can understand having the rides in Planet Snoopy and Diamondback. The two that leave me scratching my head are Invertigo and the Eiffel Tower. Those two rides aren`t exactly in the same area of the park as the rest of the rides. How will they handle the crowd control of those enjoying ERT? Will there be one early ride time entrance, and then you are free to roam all the way over to Action Zone? It will be interesting to see how this works. The Beast is not really a surprise. Most days, you can get there right at 10am, or even thirty minutes later, and The Beast will have no line to a very minimal wait time.
  24. I will be going to this concert. I saw them once in concert in the mid-90s at Riverfront Stadium. I was really bummed when their tour did not include a stop at Riverbend. I`m excited to go.
  25. The ride was incredibly rough last year when I rode it in the early season. And honestly, I`m not sure if I want to make the drive out to Holiday World since the ride will not have the new Timberliners on it for this season. I wonder why the trains were not delivered on time. The trains have successfully completed a season on two different wooden roller coasters. Maybe there were some unforeseen issues that arose after inspecting those trains at the completion of the 2011 season.
