Geez Yogi/dogsuit! Are they doing some news coverage before the stuff actually opens on the early morning shows? I'll look for ya!
-
Friday is not just Season Pass night Many stations are giving away tickets for Friday, just like every other year - it's Sneak Peak night!
-
I know that both rides will be open till 3pm....
-
Is anything supposed to be open other than Delirium and Scooby? I'm under the impression that those are the only two things running, but that doesn't make much sense to be open for 3 and half hours before Delirium even starts running...Or will it be running and not "officially" open until 1:30p? Did Kylee tell you where to go in the park? Do we go in the front gate? Do they have a list with our names?
-
Did you guys get the e-mail from Kylee saying that we don't HAVE to be there until Noon for the rehearsal? Delirium won't actually run until 1:30p. But, we can show up as early as 10am and ride Scooby...I'll probably get there around 11am.
-
I just got a response from Kylee and it's legit and I will be there.... I just hope I don't get mauled by a certain *cough* dogsuit *cough*.

1/2 Price Taco Salad Day At Oscars OR 1/2 Price Coney Day At Oscars ~~~~~~~~~~ Seriously - fried mushrooms, funnel cakes, blue ice cream, in-park LaRosa's, and rib sandwiches at Wings... ~~~~~~~~~~ Oh yea, free Cotton Candy & Snow Cones from the Vendors too!

Dragon - I totally understand what you're saying... I can't even count the number of times I have told people "chug it or dump it" - normally 'dump it' Half of the time I worked in HB and there' s no reason for alcohol to be in that area of the park. There are more important things employees should be looking out for...I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I honestly think PKI should be a 'dry' park...
-
That's exactly the reason - there were MAJOR changes within the Entertainment department for this year. I see 2003 as a 'transition' season...2004 I think will be better. And yes, Karaoke and Nick are the only pre-season shows... Unfortunately because of the budget cuts and many changes, I won't be back this year - Sorry Yogi! Shman - Where do you work? I'm sure we've crossed paths...
-
SpongeBob 3-D IS the new attraction....We get 3 this year: 1) Delirium 2) Scooby-Doo & The Haunted Castle 3) SpongeBob 3-D Don't always read so much into things....
-
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about....I can't remember the name though....It was SO cool It was actually located right around where the current Nick Central sign is (across from Thornberrys)... It was a big water tank with nets around it...two people got into 'submarines' (i think there was a total of 4 or 5 subs) - one person in the lower section who drove and i think also had a stationary ball cannon - the person in the top section actually had a seat that spun around and they also had the ball cannon. The cannons shot rubberish tennis-ball-sized balls. People could also stand on the outside of the tank and shoot at the subs. If I remember right there were also hanging targets you could aim for that would shoot water in the pool. That was a very cool thing....I totally forgot about that till you mentioned it Yogi.

If I don't find a "real" job - it could be all season - if she ever calls me back! I'll let ya know! I gotta go for Year #9....
-
Yogi - I'm doing a soundtrack to go along with my Senior Design project....The one song I knew I wanted on it is the Main Theme from Chariots Of Fire...If you don't recognize it by name, you'll definitely recognize the sound. My other songs were kinda picked on my own....I have a different song for each ride video I made. You'll have to see/hear it. FYI....I left a message for L.W. - maybe I will be back.... :-)

OK, Slime Time we all know what that'll be like - it says a 20-minute show? if it's like past years it's longer than that.... Vibe will be like Pop Fusion from 2001, Young Country will be at the Back Porch, Karaoke at the bandstand, Spellbound is SUPPOSED to be better than Forbidden Magic (which sucked) - just because it says "live from Vegas" doesn't mean it's really from Vegas.... and the one everyone's curious about... Pulse is going to be similar to the Crew - it will be a 'Stomp'-like show at the Bandstand. If they go ahead with the plans I heard in the fall - the singers from Vibe will be the cast of Young Country and the dancers from Vibe will be the cast of Pulse...Don't know if this is still the plan. Meet the Nicktoons (I think) will still be at the Character Studio by Nick Theater? Correct me if I'm wrong Yogi.... I'm holding my judgement of the shows until I actually see them....the one I really want to see is Vibe.....
-
Hey... I've worked at PKI off & on for quite a few years, but does anyone know if seasonal employees can get any kind of medical insurance? Just curious...
-
Yea, Flight Commander is in that picture....right in front of the 2nd 'big' hill of The Racer....
-
The Flying Dutchman and The Enchanted Voyage (w/ The Smurfs)

That's actually not true at all...The shows are VERY popular, especially for families...and considering Kings Island is a family theme park they fit in VERY well. I've spent enough years working at the shows to know this...The problem is that the shows have been kinda lacking the past couple years...but even during the bad years....they are still popular.
-
Yea that's true....the original name for Xtreme Skyflyer was Drop Zone, but when they added the Gyro Drop they changed the name...I'm guessing so Drop Zone was the same kind of ride at all of the Paramount parks....
-
Not true Yogi....While it's true Graveyard Shift won't be back...PKI does have a tendency to repeat shows (or variations)...In 2001 & 2002 they had the exact same Scooby show (they changed some of the choreography, but everything else was the same)....The Nick show was the same for a few years...I mean exactly the same....And there was a show at International Showplace (Retro: Repeat The Beat), then the year after (maybe 2 years) there was a show at Paramount Theatre (Retroactive) - while there were noticable changes, most of the songs/dances were the same...trust me I saw Repeat The Beat on a daily basis...I knew that forwards/backwards/inside/out... This year I think will be all new!
-
"I remember "Retro: Repeat the Beat"... that was a good show. Being an usher SML828, did they rotate you on the different shows or did you work the same show all season? " blondie - It varied...If you were an usher you were at one specific show for the most part...either Nickelodeon or Paramount Theatre. Enchanted Theatre & Showplace were covered by the same crew...I was @ Showplace/Enchanted Theatre for most of my years. The shows like Karaoke, etc were covered by anyone... Once you are a supervisor you are stationary at the same show, except I was lucky enough to be a Swing Supervisor which meant that I would work at every show...basically when the stationary had the day off, I would be there - or just when they needed an extra body...It was nice not seeing the same show EVERY day... Probably more than ya wanted to know...
-
It's weird (to me) how people have differing opinions about the shows...especially from those in the department. Maybe it's because we see them up to 35 times a week :-) I thought Graveyard Shift was pretty good (depending on the cast) - of course when you know people you have favorites. My favorite of all time though has got to be 'Retro: Repeat The Beat' - it was at the International Shooplace in 96. Best cast, best music, one of the best summer's I've had...it was my first year ushering...
-
The performers' schedules do vary....Some days they will do all five shows, other days it will be a 3-2 or 4-1 split. They might not be on stage for a long period of time, but it is definitely a lot of work!
-
It's out of date....Definitely mis-labeled....Those are the shows from 2000. Next year there won't be that many shows...Nick, Int'l Showplace, Back Porch, & Bandstand
-
I think I might win this - 8 seasons! 2 years (94, 95) in Merch (I.S. Candy - when they made the good fudge, then Animation Station) and 6 years (96, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02) in Entertainment (Usher/Usher Sup.) But, I'm finally done - unless I can get a full-time job in the offices.
