Honestly, I would still go, but only every once in a while. I would probably get rid of my pass and only make a trip or two to the park every year. I really, really hope that Six Flags does not acquire Kings Island. Under Cedar Fair, the park is thriving and amazing. I am not ready for mid-summer ride openings, slow dispatches, and advertisements all over the place.

If not Cedar Fair, I would choose Hershend or SeaWorld-Busch Gardens! Just not Six Flags! LOL!

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
FUN&ONLY! replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
As much as I like this and would love an RMC at the park, I still see it very unlikely that Cedar Fair will work with RMC in the near future. Steel Vengeance consistently has downtime, and often times, can’t run all three trains. And I know, Steel Vengeance is the only RMC (besides Lightning Rod) that has such constant downtime, and many others think that if Kings Island were to get an RMC that this would not necessarily be the case. As far as I am concerned, the reason Steel Vengeance is always down and running without three trains is because of its three trains. No other RMC that is not dual track has more than two trains. Steel Vengeance is the first one, and it is obvious that RMC still is having trouble making three trains work. Kings Island needs a coaster that runs three trains, and RMC simply cannot deliver that right now. Also, on top of all of this, Steel Vengeance’s line is considerably slowed down by the whole phone policy, and some loose article policy would also have to be implemented at Kings Island for an RMC. People always say that Kings Island will never get an Intamin because of downtime, but if downtime is the reason, RMC is also not a likely candidate. I don’t want this to come off as negative. I really don’t. I want an RMC too! I just don’t see Cedar Fair wanting to work with a company that is still giving them headaches over a year after their first time working with them. I will be surprised if Cedar Fair decides to work with them again anytime soon, at least until Steel Vengeance and RMC can prove to be more reliable. -
Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season

Chad Showalter said last year that it was becoming harder for the park to find new parts for Firehawk as it aged. -
It does looks like he is unbanned!

Maybe it is time for some Google Earth overlays or other coasters in The Vortex plot of land! -

Look up Shoot The Rapids at Cedar Point. That is the main reason their partnership fell apart. There were other smaller reasons too! -
Not necessarily, but it is interesting how abrupt this announcement was. With Firehawk and Son of Beast, the park announced their closures when they already had a plan for a new coaster. In both cases, the park announced a new coaster the next year. In Vortex’s case, you would think they would do the same and announce its closure when they are ready to replace it with a new ride, but they definitely are not ready to replace it. Chad Showalter said they do not know what is going to replace it yet, and the park has not said it is going to be removed soon like they did with Firehawk. For Firehawk, they said it would be removed and come down fast, and with Vortex, all they said was it was going to be retired. I see it sitting for a few years until they are ready to tear it down and replace it. There has to be some reason that we likely will never know as to why they had to remove it so suddenly. In the end, I have faith in Cedar Fair and believe that they know what they are doing. I know they will replace it with something even better!

The park is closed until 6:00 tonight!

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
FUN&ONLY! replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
I honestly don’t see a new rollercoaster until at least 2023. Cedar Fair is not the company to build new rides for anniversaries, so I don’t see a new one in 2022. And in 2021, Cedar Point is getting a new ride along with the fact that we just got one the year before. I say 2023 because people are going to be annoyed with the fact that Vortex is gone with no immediate replacement. -
Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season

They announced Firehawk was closing on September 27, 2018 last year! Same day as Vortex this year. And it is my birthday today... sigh... -
I saw this post a while back from cincybroscoasters325 on Instagram, and I honestly really like it. It would not require a completely new entrance, so we could still have the International Restaurant and the shops. I think it would look great at Kings Island!

Orion Coming to Kings Island in 2020
FUN&ONLY! replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I would not mind it! LOL! Mystic Timbers, The Beast, and Diamondback all of the longest lines in the park due to their proximity to each other. I also am not the biggest fan of Invertigo! -
This is an interesting read from Emotional Rollercoasters on Instagram. They claim that the International Street renovation was only phase one of the redesigned entrance (I don’t recall this, but hey, this person works there). I could see Invertigo leaving and some of its land being taken up by an expanded entrance with new ticket booths and whatnot. This would also go along well with the arrival of the park’s biggest coaster ever. Carowinds did the same thing with Fury 325 even though that ride interacts with the entrance.

What was removed for 2020?

Better than I could do! LOL!

I vote @Maverick44! -
That is what happened with the Vekoma Flying Dutchman at least which was a reason why Firehawk was scrapped. It seems as if Vekoma does not support their older (rarer) ride models like the Flying Dutchman. The Invertigo model is also pretty rare, so it is very possible that Vekoma no longer makes parts for it.
-
To be fair, many people think it will be replaced by a Mack launch coaster which only seats 16 passengers per train. At least, that is what Copperhead Strike has.
-
It is just one color, blue. That may be dust or the sun hitting it weird.
-
Those are really good photos!
-
I am not sure that is the reason, but I do see Invertigo as a fair contender to be removed. As far as we know, Vekoma is no longer making parts for it, and Stinger’s parts from Dorney Park will only last so long.
-
I could see one eventually being Firehawk, but the other, I don’t know. Maybe a subtle hint at something being killed off in the future, but since the grave has been covered with dirt, that would mean it has already closed. Correct me if I am wrong, but the water rides in the park are the only ones that are closed as of now and won’t reopen for the rest of the season. We all know how much Cedar Fair loves removing in-park water rides, so maybe Congo Falls or White Water Canyon. I don’t see White Water Canyon as that recently got a new entrance, but Congo Falls would make sense because it is at the front of the park in a potential new area for a new coaster in the coming years.

I don’t think it being too cold is the problem here, but maybe I am wrong. It is probably because of all the construction that will be going on back there.
