Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
LuckyluvsKI replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
that all can change april 1st too. the point is to stop the mass spread so hospitals dont get overwhelmed. you still have 4 weeks till the park opens plenty of time for things to iron out. it'll be what itll be. maybe a postponement means no cold april rain at 91mph? -
I just conquered Diamondback this fall I'm assuming you mean the gates in the loading corrals? I don;t remember any gate in front of the train or behind us. but i could be wrong lol but they were on point in loading i didn't notice any slowdown from a rider perspective ( rode it like 7 times that day). Thank you for the insights though, I figured it was still pretty individualistic to be trained per ride but in all stations of the ride. B&M just promote their standardization of their controls for ease of operation. But I'd prefer something unique too.

Hotel packages with park tickets?
LuckyluvsKI replied to HouseFullofCoasterFanatics's topic in Kings Island
the super 8 is nice too and has the super start breakfast too. great deal for the price and its less than a 5 min drive across the highway -
From an operational point how easy/similar are the operations of the other manufacturers? B&M is popular from a business standpoint because they are so streamlined safe and the standardized controls are the same whether its Banshee, rougaru etc which makes training and operating super easy barely an inconvenience as now employees can operate any b&M to cover short staffing and not have to rely on ride specific control training per say. I can see why they are b&m Heavy because on an operations view its quite logical and the GP don't mind make as long as its enjoyable and fun. Variety is the spice of life so hopefully they do still build unique and vary manufacturers still. and not turn into carbon copies of each other

is this the first time they've offered a event like this? I haven't been to CP since 2006 when I had my bacholorette party there. I know a lot has changed since. Excited to see what we can at the front of the park at this event. MY fave (as of now since Valraven and GateKeeper could replace it ) is open Raptor!

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks

guys here's the deal Disney is entering one of their busiest seasons ever right now- spring break through Easter where their crowds literally are shoulder to shoulder. They aren't closing so thats a big sign KI won't either- Big indoor events are because they are trying to minimize mass spread to not overwhelm the health system, spreading the cases out- its going to take its course and spread just like colds flue sars etc do then all will be as usual again- it also depends what it does as it warms up- coronavirususes like colds die out in heat therefore stopping the spread- sars another strain did not and so different measures had to be taken. its really a wait and see and try to prevent the hospitals being overloaded then nobody wins and more die when resources are strained. -
I don't know if this is a thing or not- but I'd love to get this years passholder car magnet- I'm a passholder but i can't make the drive fri. Does anybody know where people who decide to offload theirs might do it? besides ebay obviously. Or will they sell leftovers online or in the stores? this is our first year going to the park. Thanks in advanced

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
LuckyluvsKI replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
its a new strain of already existing coronvirases likes Sars and MERS which have been around for years. Be mindful and observant but you'll feel better not feeding into the mass hysteria. viruses mutate constantly Hence why the flu is so prevalent and the flu shot is their best guess on what strands will be prevalent that year. It is why you can get the shot and still get the flu because its still hit or miss but better to have some protection vs none at all. An easy and not super expensive would be to just install those hand sanitizer stations at the exits of coasters, and in prime areas around flats etc so people can sanitize quicker after riding and such between hand washing. -

Up to you how much of a bubble you want to live in- or what you decide is too risky- you're 10xs more likely to catch the flu than corona. if you're young and healthy nothing to worry about besides wash your hands properly, basic hygiene. Do you quit living because you might catch a cold? People are carriers of many things and you'll never know unless you pay(afford to pay) for testing. If you're worried about spreading; the people who are in danger normally don't flock to theme parks anyways like elderly and immunocompromised because of the risks of catching any type of bug. This also has been a very specific pattern every election year-big scary bug so people lose their minds and because fear is very easy to manipulate. Nobody seems to be concerned about Zika or Sars( a different strain of coronavirus mind you) same with MERS Another corona virus strand same family), or Ebola anymore yet those viruses are still out there. You all need to take a breath and just keep up on your hand washing and general hygiene and you'll be ok, keep track of what the CDC and your local county health departments say not news-News stations just blow things up to make ratings. -
i don't know if coasters are good for people with seizures but you have to have the warning because strobe lighting is a big trigger for people who suffer from them- so they can be prepared. i've even seen warnings in movies that have similar effects just in-case. But that's probably it no story lol

they are actually already on the verge of cancelling the Tokyo Olympics- because it is such a large event and the proximity to where the mass outbreak is currently etc over multiple days and cities hosting various events its is actually highly possible it will be canceled. because they are hitting the crunch time- you have people to train for everything, logistics of travel because of the virus many have a travel ban etc. they wont postpone it- its nearly impossible to re-coordinate the athletes, the travel not to mention the loss of money and you can't postpone the housing and hotel reservations etc its just too big of an event. if canceled what you'll get is many other places hosting championship competitions most likely. it is possible that they could just cut some events and host easier competitions (es; cancel the horse events as that involves major logistics of quarantines and hosting major staffing and area taken up etc but keep swimming events all that requires is a pool, lifeguards and the athletes- less staffing etc) we'll know withing the next month what they decide. -
you can buy bring a friend as many days as you like- a big thing i learned last year is the pricing runs like airlines. EX: I checked late june/early july planning days out for friends and many suns were 17.99 in sept and oct. Nobody pinned down a day till closer and the price had jumped up to 19.99 & 21.99 closer in to the days as i'm sure their prospective numbers were better accessed. As like disney and other parks price goes up on busier days for deterrence ( not always but in disneys case hence spring break and new years are the most expensive prices you'll pay out of pocket and off days where they want to bring in people are way cheaper etc). Some of it is capitalizing on people wanting to come too on those particular times. Online can be cheaper than the park if you catch those 14.99 and 17.99 days even with the convenience fee. 19.99-& up just buy at the park and skip the extra fees. yes its up to 4 per pass. most days have bring a friend pricing especially during the week when they want to get people through the gates. Hope this little extra tid bit helps

i found it just searching KI on youtube its only like a 1:30 half long. i will say KI looks so beautiful with snow cover.

I misread KK box on wiki. Unfortunately I have no plans to travel outside the US for coasters. Probably never to have the funds for a trip like that. But Carowinds Georgia etc might happen before they changeover or are taken out.
-
I guess my favorites are the weird ones! I loved KC though id do mostly night rides because it wore out my legs lol But I loved the standing position. I wished i could have rode Mantis before the refurb to try a bigger badder stand up. Glad i got to ride this one though as there aren't any left anywhere near by that i know of. Scratch that Carowinds and Kentucky kingdom still have operating ones. must get to those parks in the near future Also miss Firehawk but thats another for a another thread lol I honestly can't remember if KC or Vortex was my first looper though. but its been fun watching and experiencing how KI has evolved through the years.
-
Yes the overnight time lapse catches interesting things! I know they have overnight maintenance, security etc but the light patterns can be unique timing wise!
-
Cool I wasn't sure how long or how many cycles needed to test for readiness. Times flying lol. Interesting that it right only takes about 20 days to get it all sorted out. But since this isn't the first giga, they should mostly know what's expected in the testing anyways. It'll be fun to watch going around it's course.
-
What's enough time to run proper tests? It's 60 days till media day. So it's going to be starting soon maybe not next week but probably by end of month I'd think. To have time for adjustments or whatever during the process. And allow weather buffer days I'm sure.
-
Thank you all it worked out great!!
-
Can you get the bring a friend price with pass at the gate ticket booths? Or is it online only?
-
That's good I was worried they'd send them in a bubble mailer like they did fir the Winterfest ball they sent my work. It's lucky it didn't bust, the box was smashed.
-
It definitely would fit in a place like carillon historical park with it's history more so than age. It's just a unique and interesting enough structure it would be nice to save. And they do have a couple of pieces that aren't directly Dayton related. If the demand was there they'd look into saving it as they have before with projects like newcoms tavern, lots of people requested the save and so they worked it out and saved it. It would better suit the Cincy area but I don't know if there is a historical park like that in Cincy. It's more living history that people would enjoy beyond the park.
-
It would be cool if it were moved to a historical park like carillon or if there is a Cincy historical park that preserves older buildings and icons etc.

Locals concerned that Kings Island is violating noise ordinances
LuckyluvsKI replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
You can see if compromise can be reached but it's not sad to move if you don't like something. We can't control what others do, we're moving because we can control that. But our house is just that a house, we're not attached to the point we'd rather be miserable then move. It's really up to the people to decide what they'll put up with. Maybe 50 years ago people wouldn't have imagined 260-400+ ft tall steel coasters in existence but it's been no secret in the last 20+ years so you should know that people will keep innovating taller faster etc as long as guests are willing to ride it. I can see his family attachment to his father's estate and why he's upset about noise he can make his requests but they should be within reason and a big business brining in the tax revenue is going to get the better deal. Would he rather have to pay higher land taxes and such for a quieter spot? Would a sound barrier closer to then help? Or would the sound travel above still?
