  1. Is this another way of saying "when the **** hits the fan?" (I'd use the tongue-out emoticon here, but I don't want him to get sick, what with all this poop flying around...)
  2. Gold standard again, Geroge! I don't know if they do now, but almost every afternoon that summer (it seemed), from atop the "jungle gym" that was once part of the playground at Western Row Elementary (across from where my family friends lived), we used to watch the planes, parachutists and hot-air balloon do their thing out past the corn fields that are now the subdivisions of Mason. Once, the balloon came within about half a mile of us, and after it landed, it eerily "melted" into the corn. It was a sight! To see it all from within the park was 1,000 times cooler -- then, and now through the magic of your videos, now! Thank you!
  3. My dad has for years made this awesome, rich Christmas fudge, using Hershey's Cocoa Powder, sugar, Marshmallow Creme, and a touch of cherry flavor. So rich, that, like, one 2-inch square lasts for an hour! (no pictures... yet).
  4. Thanks. I don't remember if there had been storms that day or not, but the sky appeared deeply fluorescent, fiery and beautiful. The view of the fountains against that backdrop stopped me in my tracks. With the right music, this would have been a dream-like experience (the awesome Playlist Live was performing at the time, but in my mind, the strains of John Williams or Gabriel Yared music was trying to come through). I was amazed by the color schemes of the lights, and wondered if someone was at the controls somewhere, matching up the colors with that mind-blowing sunset.
  5. Going through a difficult divorce. I'll be back when things blow over.

  6. Here are a couple of my favorite (from when there was an awesome sunset, which matched the colors in the fountains as though by design!)...
  7. This topic's title has an almost "Lord of the Rings" feel to it ... (... you see, because Gandalf sends a moth after.. you know...) Cirrusly, though, I think I've seen (and ridden) faster Eagles at other parks, both of which no longer exist (the parks, not necessarily the rides).
  8. The "Where's Goble" thread was fun.
  9. Some local antique shops might have vintage Kings Island ashtrays (not kidding), plates, cups, Eiffel Tower models, etc. I found a couple of plates once at an antique store in west Hamilton (I think it has since closed down), but it was a neat thing to have there for awhile. There was speculation that the "plates" were themselves ashtrays, but I thought they were too nice for that (they had tiny, blue-and-white tilework around the edges, a painting of the Eiffel Tower, Royal Fountains and the Sky Ride on the front, and the back was painted gold). I've since lost it and another one like it. E-Bay has some stuff as well.
  10. Yes. You know, 'cause back when Carnival Cruise Lines started up, carnival operators had already reached a tipping point.
  11. Talk about being in the neighborhood! No parking worries at all, there! Will the HOA include a season pass pool? Yuk yuk yuk, k I'll stop.
  12. ^ Or maybe its erstwhile ORP booth? -Tb, movin' right along...
  13. Which makes the off-season all the more fun! When is it wise to trade in a trademark?
  14. Such wonderful gems! Thank you for posting these!
  15. It is a treat to visit. Very bright inside, or it was when last I visited a few years ago.
  16. I love cruising through neighborhoods to look at amazing holiday lights, especially after it snows.
  17. I can just hear the conversation, circa 1979: Kid 1: "Hey guys, the guy who carves wood over at the wood-carving booth's name is... get this... Woody!" Kid 2: "Wow! Maybe, one day in the future, you'll work somewhere here to, Dippindot!" Kid1: "Naw. Not likely. Nope."
