  1. Good point. Not complaining; only observing.
  2. I didn't notice any difference from last year, but I rode front seat right... alone. Everything in the park feels different... solo.
  3. Everything seems a lot slower in the park today (except ride lines).
  4. They had one of Charlie Brown's teachers walking around one yea... oh, that was just a performer playing a muted trombone? Oh, sorry.
  5. A Kings Island season pass was one of the prizes offered by an organization I visited in the summer of 1984. That's as far back as I can remember hearing the term "season pass," and I didn't believe other kids who spoke of their existence at the time ("Oh, come on! Visiting Kings Island as many times as you want for only $44? No way!") Then I saw one, and was like, "wow!"
  6. Might I suggest Chili Cheese Fries at Rivertown PotatoWorks, along with a nice, crisp, refreshing fountain drink. Follow up with some Blue Ice Cream, or perhaps a warm, chewy Funnel Cake, delicately dusted with fine, sweet confectioners' sugar! I guess I should have gone with "Bon début?"
  7. A Happy Screen Shot: Bon Appétit! Image of screenshot of site www.weather.gov
  8. Already being discussed here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30859-immersive-dark-ride-planned-for-kings-island/page-2#entry675019
  9. Aha! I knew there was something fishy about Terpy's "Crypt"ic posts of late. Tb, being a narwhal...
  10. It would be covered already by existing licensing. The effort is pretty much checking the publishers' database of "covered" songs and member artists before deciding to add a song to your rotation. One doesn't have to directly request permission every time a new song comes out. The permission is inherent in the license (provided it covers the new song and/or the artist, and that it is paid-up).
  11. One purchases licenses from ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. These organizations then pay the royalties to their members (the artists). Anyone who plays music as part of operating a business (DJ, Amusement Park, Grocery Store, Bar that features local bands, Bands themselves) must purchase licensing before playing and/or performing someone's music in any kind of public venue. Such licensing can be "blanket" licensing, which means (in addition to covering material played by performers in their venues) that proper license holders can play any genre they want to, as long as the songs in their rotation are covered by the license(s).
  12. But then, there was the extremely awful, terrible opening day, 2009, which was basically ultra-old, gross "grandpa rock" blasting out all over the park, including the kids' area(!) I mean, horrible! The insultingly poor choice of music included Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine," "American Woman" by the Guess Who (which at the time was so out-dated, even 30-somethings were like, "What the?") ...and the ridiculously out-of-place "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M. After my first ride on Diamondback, I walked around until I realized that the stupid music was everywhere, so I left the park and didn't return until mid-season, 2011. That's when I realized all the "magic" was gone. I learned to accept that symphonic music will never be played over "International Street" ever again, so it's at least tolerable nowadays.
  13. From the Boomerang Bay era: "High Wire" by Men at Work, "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet, "Waltzing Matilda" (don't know which version).
  14. Or you drive a Lamborghini... Illegally... via roads that can't possibly exist in Ohio... I just want to take this time to say how glad I am not to live in Maine anymore! My weather app is calling for a high of 46°... two seasons there: Winter and Mosquito (Kidding. Maine's a beautiful state. Even has a couple of amusement parks!).
  15. I'd vote for Tumble Bug if it were on the list. Bayern Kurve too.
  16. I'm ready for some fountain spray. I found some video of the fountains (from the night of the brilliant sunset above) and made this... montage. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RySSVbcr_UY&feature=youtu.be
  17. Just as I was beginning to imagine a Saturn Sky glove box being opened to reveal bright, golden light, rolling dry ice vapor and choir voices...
  18. How psyched am I about opening day? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYdLgwEgw_Y
  19. I suppose that when you're told to be an engineer, builder or metallurgist, rather than having a desire to be one, not as much genuine passion is put into the manufacturing process.
  20. Only if it just Shakes and Rattles. If it starts Rolling, then we'd have Chaos. What are the Chances?
  21. 1. Just an observation, but there used to be a ride called "Halley's Comet" toward that end of the park (pre-expansion). Perhaps coincidentally, as KI Guy pointed out above, the band Bill Haley & His Comets had released a popular cover of the 1954 Big Joe Turner hit "Shake, Rattle & Roll" those many years before Kings Island was built. (Nostalgia for the 1950s was waxing during the early 1970s in pop culture and other parts of society). 2. I'd rather have that any version of that song stuck in my head, than the Osmond Brothers' "One Bad Apple (Don't Spoil The Whole Bunch, Girl)." Not that the latter was a particularly bad song; it's just not as hip as the former, in my opinion. 3. The red-and-white color scheme is much more vibrant than the earth tones of the pre-refurbished SR&R. 4. The Huss Troika Spins, Lifts and Tilts. If it lived up to its name, I suppose it'd be time for another overhaul!
