Your Woodstock Gliders Experience
Thrill_Biscuit replied to TheBEASTunchained's topic in Kings Island
Well, I missed the Gliders, but Crosby, Stills & Nash really had a groovy set! Oh, wait... (I'm full of Woodstock jokes). Seriously, though, it's good to just to glide along, gently turning into and out of the breeze. -
You Know When Its On-Season When
Thrill_Biscuit replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in Kings Island
When you can retire your old "favorite spot to eat in the park" and start enjoying this awesome patio behind Festhaus, with its view of Delirium, Banshee, and thousands of people experiencing happiness. -
Maintenance has the path between Festhaus and Viking Fury blocked off. I was able to get in and get some Panda Express, but I went around using the path between the Theater and Delirium.

Wasn't Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown once themed around "Barney Rubble?" That or it just had Flintstones theming nearby. Then again, how many times have you heard "I wanna ride 'Camp Remote'!"?
-
Sometimes I start talking aloud to whoever I'm with about how roller coasters are just like big "sled rides," and the nearby parents will say, "Yeah, did you hear that? It's just a big sled ride." Then as the kid starts calming down, they start asking the ubiquitous questions about flying off, and then they get their first lesson in observing the amazing up-stop and side-friction wheels, which a great many first-time riders have never really noticed before.

It doesn't take much to scare a hippie.

There's a shop that sells awesome "snakeskin" mugs, with ceramic snakes in the middle of the cup, so that it "emerges" from your drink as you sip away. It's in the strip of shops that connects to the Emporium. Most unique thing I've seen in the park in awhile. I don't remember whether it was branded Diamondback or not. Anyway, that's the kind of thing you can find there.

I think that the fact that the ride tilts away from the center adds a little more thrill to the experience. I, too, think of metal stresses, etc., but I also notice the visible safety redundancies built into the various fastenings and connections all over the ride system, that put my mind more at ease.

^Those can get rather epic sometimes.

Yes, I've seen that, too, but the doors are all closed, and two associates are standing out in front of the venue, advising guests of the current status.I was jonesin' some Panda Express, too. Oh, well. The Chicken Shack was alright I guess. Their hot sauce is good on fries, in the absence of ketchup.
-
The associates out in front of the facility said they're doing some kind of maintenance. There are "No Show Today" signs up in each of the poster marquees.
-
On the food front: Chicken Shack and Starbucks have been fly-throughs in the last ~ hour and a half. The park doesn't feel very crowded today. Festhaus is closed, and Chicken Shack is out of ketchup. Just a heads up.

The quarters rolled in, and the people soaked, and they smiled! Ah, good times! -Tb's first-ever post from the Train! -

I like this wifi! I can sit here in Starbucks, watching Weather.gov in one window, and KIC in the other as I wait for the rain to subside... and it will... except for about 300 or so who dare the waters of WWC later. Mwa ha ha ha ha h- Oh... -

I'm here now, and lots of people are braving the wind and sprinkles to happily line up (and go in for ERT). I got a rare preferred parking so I can wait out the current squall, and then walk in without the hike. -

I'll even take "Friday" by Rebecca Black at this point! EDIT: I should start a new topic called "What in the name of all that is good are you NOT listening to right now?" -

Either way, the Sonny & Cher song ♫ "I Got You, Babe" ♫ is stuck in my head, now! -

You're welcome! Pass processing seems to have been a fly-through this season! Anyway, storms or no, always be safe! When I hear thunder, I make my way into any indoor location until the storm blows over. My fave is the Festhaus, because you can eat and watch a show. In Rivertown, it's Reds Hall of Fame Grille, because you can eat and watch a... well, this season, anyway, a baseball... match (not seeing anything that can be called a Reds 'game' this season ). Have a great time Tuesday! -

Not a dumb question. I'm sure someone on here has a clear answer; however... I can only give a perspective, rather than an answer. In Kings Island's 43.2 of my 46 years, I've never seen, nor heard of the park scrapping an entire operating day due to intermittent storms. That, of course, doesn't mean it's never happened, but from my perspective, I doubt it. -
Your tonearm needs a new pickup needle. (That joke only available on vinyl).

Few programs will ever replace the sheer delight that was SpongeBob Squarepants 3D.

I find visiting the Eiffel Tower first helps establish getting over the height anxiety, because conquering being way up in the air makes all the (frankly shorter) rides feel just a little less intimidating. Another thing I do is realize that the first drop is really just an acceleration means, after which it's all a huge, mechanical sled ride (albeit at automobile speeds, and sometimes upside down)...
