Man, Collective Soul. That's huge! These guys have a bunch of songs that have gotten massive airplay for years! "Shine", "December", "Smashing Young Man", "The World I Know" and "Gel" among the most recognizable.

Nice! Especially Zephyr and the Train.

How busy is trills and thrills days in may?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to cslowry21's topic in Kings Island
Shortest post ever? -
Was it "The Old Man (Is Down The Road)"?
-
Was it "American Woman" by the guess who? Or was that the song that was playing when they cranked it up at around 9:30? Others I heard: "Finding My Way" by Rush; "Hey You" by Pink Floyd; "Golden Years" by David Bowie; "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin; "Round and Round" by Ratt; "The Boys Are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy "Tied to the Whippin' Post" by the Allman Brothers "Dancin' Days" by Led Zeppelin "Evil Woman" by the Electric Light Orchestra "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

The floral clock, (once it's landscaped) makes for great photos. (The flowers along the Royal Fountains is another nice gardening project).

If making commercials is anything like putting together convention presentations (and I think it's pretty close), then my theory is that they use such stock and other-park footage because its easier to put together in a timely fashion. The alternative is to clear all the legal intellectual property, copyright, trademark, contract, licensing and various union restrictions that must be dealt with prior to production and release. Sometimes it's easier (and cheaper) to use sources for which you already have license, and that's probably what's going on here. Just a theory.

If you spot a hand-painted Bengals shirt with my old "Eiffel Blast-Off" avatar and "Tb", please feel free to say 'Hi'. (I'm still going to buy one of the new KIC golf shirts and/or iChase Ts as soon as the 'budget' allows. I may even iron my new avatar on the back... )

I noticed: That the green and amber lights on scrambler form a nice spiral pattern if you view it from across the midway... That the old, dilapidated shack against the wall of the arcade right next to Monster is in need of some TLC... That Kings Island smells like asphalt, french fries and sun block... A light was burned out in the Royal Fountains... Plasma or LED TVs on in the International Restaurant... That Viking Fury is powered by tires! Honestly, I never knew that... That's about all. Cheers!

I've only ridden it once (on opening day). Haven't had a chance to get back to the park since.

Pilgrims Plunge
Thrill_Biscuit replied to SonofBeast07's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Fantastic! It love the bowed look of the elevators. That is a huge fan, reminiscent of a giant helicopter! This ride looks extremely fun (I can almost feel the thrill of the drop just looking at it!) Excellent ! -
You're welcome. Reggie Zippo gets the credit for the fine photo. This site has some of the greatest pictures from days gone by.

This is relatively new. The old lights you can still see around the tower (and on it--those lamps hanging down from under the tower head). The whole tower used to be lit up at night from all angles. Now it's just one bright spotlight that changes colors on the front of the tower. The last time I noticed the old lighting was in 2005. In the 70s/80s, it looked something like this:

It was directly off the west corner of Enchanted Voyage (now SDATHC), right next to the Scooby Doo (Now FOC). Here's the link to the picture in the History Section (Reggie Zippo): Enchanted Voyage

Wonderland Opens This Sunday
Thrill_Biscuit replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^You'd be correct. A couple years ago I looked over at it from the Wynn, and wanted to walk over and check it out, but never had a chance to . (Trivia: The Las Vegas Hilton's sign is 49 feet taller than Diamondback!) -
I rode it at dusk on Saturday 4/25 and the stone fist pounders didn't move, and the temple lava dude was silent. Is this a sign of things to come for AE, or did I just catch a rare, "down" moment?

4/25 Season-Opening TR with photos (but not true PTR)
Thrill_Biscuit replied to touchdown62's topic in Trip Reports
This is one of the most excellent PTRs I've ever read! Nice job! The Royal Fountains being feathered by the wind is one of my faves. I think yours is probably the first picture of a crane at Kings Island that isn't used for construction! Good show! -
Swine Flu Orlando

My Dad and my Uncle were going to join us at Kings Island this Saturday for a nostalgic walk through. We'd been planning this for months. Now they're afraid to go because of the news of this "outbreak". Sigh. -
Nope. I'll take the thrilling, terrifyingly wobbly basket ride over the prospect of being on a ladder and hearing a distinct "clunk!"
