I love becoming part of the "Squirtillary Battallion", soaking WWC smarties who show up in the canyon somehow dry! Never gets old, especially on the hottest days.
-
^Fewer geese! Seriously, though. The 'stadium seating' concept works beautifully, and the first drop is thrill excellence!
-
Diamondback is a rock star among coasters. Good timing, too, given SOB's woes.
-
But you have the benefit of the "Road Trip!" It's more fun seeing the KI skyline after a bit of a drive full of happy anticipation!
-
Way to gloat, Jackson! However, driving an hour and a half to work hasn't gotten old yet, and it's always easy to drive there to play. I live like 3 minutes away I live a mere 8,000 feet, or 1.08 Beasts, from the edge of the park. Free fireworks nightly, w00t!

What's the attraction with the surfers who do all kinds of tricks like splashing the crowd, etc? That's always fun to watch (I'd try it if I knew the first thing about surfing).
-
Tazmanian Typhoon is my personal favorite. We haven't gone over to BB in a few years, so we're thinking of checking it out before the summer's out.

I like: the wafting aroma of french fries, funnel cakes, sunscreen and coaster grease. ...the feeling of falling backwards on Delerium. Best experience ever. ...watching/hearing first-time coaster riders freaking out, then applauding the awesomeness of their first rides on our venerable coasters (especially when "shaking off" the double helix, or the trademark, sudden stop of Vortex). ...the sound of said Vortex coming to a stop (Shaclack-clack-clack-Psst!) ...the view from the eastward corner of the Eiffel Tower, especially on crisp, late spring mornings when the trees are in full bloom, and the sky is blue from horizon to horizon. ...fresh-cut fries, so hot they almost burn, drowned in ketchup. ...the clinkity-clink of the ring toss. ...the reliable shortness of the lines for AE and SR&R. ...watching the Glass Blower work. ...the BLSC crew at closing time. ...the cleanliness of the park. ^^and Rotag, I, too miss the VH1 Kittens singing "I Feel For You" by Chaka Khan, especially in Festhaus!

I haven't been to KI since late May. What's wrong with the splashdown? Is the water getting nasty?
-
I can think of a game involving basketballs and line jumpers, but I don't really wanna go there.
-
I hope the woman is ok, and that she recovers fully.

Showers forecast in Mason Ohio in Late June typically last about 10 minutes, clear up, and dry up relatively quickly. Enjoy a pressure wash if you're caught on Vortex, Diamondback or Beast during a downpour!

Thanks for such a vivid report! I can't wait to try Holiday World soon; I've heard so much about it, and it sounds like you had a great time (except for Pilgrim's Plunge shutting down...bummer!) Water parks are best experienced on really hot days. Sounds like you got about the hottest day you can get! Plus this is the first time I've heard of free sunscreen stations. Does KI or CP have these? Anyway, great report!

My wife has had to tell me to "look down!" many, many times this season because of the attire choices of some guests. I can only imagine. In my humble opinion, words sewn across the backsides of shorts is degrading to the wearer, whether they care about it or not. I saw a guy in line for Beast wearing a shirt that in not so many words, invites us to enjoy a day of removing feathers from pheasants. How clever. I have seen attire that have blatant, disprespectful messages about people's beliefs. Thankfully, these very forums have rules and diligent moderation to protect us from experiencing the kinds of feelings this attire can invoke. I'm done ranting. I feel better, now.

That's the classic, juvenille delinquent excuse. "Please make an exception for poor little me, because my dad/mom will get mad/has a heart condition/etc." I've heard the "no sign" excuse before, too. Sigh! I remember when the hand stamp was fluorescent, and you had to hold it under a black light to see it(1970s). The magic feeling of the park is at the front gate and international street, when they're playing the right kind of music, that is. I don't know what focus group they consulted to determine their current music choice, but that grand, orchestral flare is what added that element that is now missing. If they want to blast Lynyrd Skynyrd throughout the park, that's their prerogative, but it clashes with the fountains, tower, landscaping, etc., and makes them unnecessary in my humble opinion.

Holy Ruined Ride, Batman!

Well, there goes another good root beer... -Tb, looking for the paper towels. -
The launch, helix, and tunnel on BLSC; The breathtaking view at the crest of Beast's lift hill; The Beast Helix (duh ) The Monster-Chasing-Shaggy-Around on SDATHC; The Second Hill on Diamondback; The First 2 Inversions on Vortex; The break to the left after the 2nd Lift Hill on AE; The foot-chopper red lights on Delirium; The extra spin time on Monster; The Buzz Saw/Paddle Ball Sequence on SBSP3D; and... The restraint system on DB. Sheer thrill!

Carowinds employee arrested
Thrill_Biscuit replied to indianapolisman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
??? He showed him how to flip a ring? Is that the secret to winning that stupid game? Is it illegal to flip rings like it is to do bank shots in skeeball? Plus, wow! Licensing costs on Scooby must be through the ceiling! Just wow. -
How 'bout Adventure Express? It's an underrated coaster. You could highlight its many surprises.

Great point! Using your observations, I can see how this pattern of parental thinking can affect society: "Well, their friends jump lines and are rude anyway.", "He/She knows not to jump lines and be rude", "You can't stand over their shoulder forever"... "Well, they've seen drugs used at their friend's house anyway.", "He/she knows not to do drugs...." Just a thought. That's all.

Man, a dream finally came true on opening day of 2006. I got Vortex all to myself....TWICE! Someone told me those are called 'Zen' rides, which made me laugh, because Zen is "to be at one with" the coaster. Clever! Anyway, for the first time in my life, the thing beat the heck out of me all four times I rode it that day! Still loved it, though. Good old Vortex. It really did a number on me that year. I've lost more than 40 pounds since then, so it's a lot more fun for me to ride nowadays. Haven't had a zen ride since - on any attraction.

Excellent description of how to maximize the fun of Dodge 'Em and Racer! That's what it's all about. Great report!

I like the train ride. It's a relatively peaceful excursion through the woods. I noticed graffiti is worse on the train this year (backs of seats). The view of Diamondback is cool especially when you pull out of the station as a DB train is coming down TGSHOAT into the left turn. I like "Cotton-Eyed Joe". I dislike "I Want You to Want Me". I forget the other song(s). Oh, wait: "Down Under" is a cool song, too. The bear rocks. Okay, thank you very much. Goodbye. Oh, and TGSHOAT=The Greatest Second Hill Of All Time. I made it up. Yeah. ...I don't think it'll get very far off this thread, though. -Tb

I wonder what the share holders think about SOB? I'm just sayin'.

Great TR! Your joke with the security guy checking his watch is priceless! I've been hearing a lot more people selling Buicks to Earl on KI coasters this year (I just had to add another way to say 'puke' on your thread. Sorry ). Great report!
