Everyone is forgetting the Screamin' Demon, that was over close to the Safari, maybe were getting a prototype of a ride like that, except on a much larger scale. Or not.......
-
No, to the left, between Vortex Gear and the Station.

Just browsing through this topic I really have no idea what to expect. The idea of it saying turn back the clock on THRILL, and expect something BIG makes me think that this could really be something of epic proportions. I cannot wait to see what happens Friday.

What is that building at the end of the midway where the entrance/exit to Action Theatre would be today?

I see Mr Helbig uses a Flip Video Camcorder much like the same one I have, very nice.

I miss the old dark days of FOF pre show. Sad that some things are ruined by immature people.

Did anyone else notice how many people were literally just standing and watching the actors as they were walking or riding. If you watch the Pop Up Brady it tells how the patrons were not supposed to acknowledge the Brady's or anything. I guess the Partridge Family was much different. Still a bigger fan of the Brady's. I have also never seen someone stand up on the log flume like that before.

Well aside from my many trips to Kings Island this year, I plan on making another trip down to Holiday World as the park really impressed me last year. I also intend to make another trip to, of course, Cedar Point in the early days of August. Since I now have an automobile that can make the trip without the risk of breaking down I plan on being at KI more this year than ever. Summer 2011 is looking very bright for KIC's Drop Tower Fan!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Jasper replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I am just waiting to see when the other areas of the park get this same treatment. I would love to see Oktoberfest get an overhaul and make it look more German esque. -
This thread keeps getting better and better, I love the side by side comparison shots, really gives me an idea of how the park looked.
-
I was reading on the Park Executives section of the site and I read about Ruth Voss and at the bottom it said that the park still continues the tradition of a Beast walkback, is this true? I have never seen a walk back group in the morning going towards The Beast, if there is one I just must have missed it.

Old Paramount (Viacom) vs. Cedar Fair Managments at KI
Jasper replied to KILateNighter's topic in Kings Island History
What I liked about Paramount. -Theming, I cannot stress enough about how much I loved the park when the theming was in abundance it felt like. -Overall atmosphere of the park, it felt like it was more of a vacation destination and you cherished every minute you spent there, not saying I don't now because that is far from the truth. -The Paramount license rights, such as Top Gun, Drop Zone, Face/Off, etc. -I don't think this has any direct connection with Paramount, but I absolutely loved HBL, and even Nickelodeon Central when it first opened, now we have Peanuts, who I think it is safe to say most children are not very familiar with. -The music played throughout the park. -The slogans, a la, Where The Magic Of The Movies Meets The Thrills Of A Lifetime! What I like about Cedar Fair. -The addition of world class rides such as Diamondback and WindSeeker. -The revamping of certain areas such as the new looking Planet Snoopy and the Coney Mall overhaul. -The park seems to be much cleaner over the past couple of years. -The benefit of being able to have a Platinum Pass and get into any Cedar Fair park, this is probably my all time favorite thing about Cedar Fair owning the park(s) now. Overall, I still prefer Paramount solely because of the atmosphere and the theming around the park, I still love the park and think Cedar Fair is doing a great job with it. I cannot wait to see what happens with other areas of the park in the near future and cannot wait to see what more world class rides Cedar Fair has up their sleeve for our beloved Kings Island. -
I agree that Delirium needs an overhaul, big time. Instead of having the bright yellow with red and white checkers on it, it simply has gone to like a real pale looking scheme. Even the logos have peeled off on the gondola.

I am going to ride WindSeeker first and foremost, then depending on the time, ride either WindSeeker again, or Vortex, then line up closest to Firehawk and try and be the first train on that, or possibly Diamondback since I was second train of the year on that last year.

At first the photo didn't load and I thought you may have been referring to the old Eiffel Tower fence around the observation deck. From what I have read it was only about chest high at one point.

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues

I have to agree, I don't think a yellow and green color scheme fit The Beast very well. I think a black train with a sort of red trim on it would look....Beastly.
-
Paul, as always great photos. Some of these are very interesting, actually all of them are, I loved The Beast vs. The Racer one.
-
The second picture, to me anyway, is when the park was at it's peak. I miss those days.
-
Wish they still had that, it would make the train seem more like a ride than just an easy way to Boomerang Bay
-
Are those pictures from the KI&MV RR?

2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
Jasper replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I am kind of bummed to see that there is going to be no ERT for Diamondback and Beast, well as far as we know now. I am looking forward to having a new set of rides to get in some laps on before the park opens. Also, what I like about this is how it is so close to Firehawk, now I might be able to beat the crowds to Firehawk and FoF and get a couple of rides in. -
I have never noticed or even knew about the old queue house. I will have to look more closely next time I visit the park.
-
Everytime I check back to this thread my jaw drops farther and farther. Keep up the amazing, stellar work Paul!

Strange footprint in the snow on KI Facebook page.
Jasper replied to Oldschool75's topic in Kings Island
^Tony and Tyler's blog was IMO the standard by which ALL Amusement Park Blog standards should be set by. It was really enjoyable to read and they did some pretty cool stories and had some really, really interesting photos.
