Another Great Season Comes To A Close
Jasper replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
There are several things I am looking forward to in 2011, seeing changes that the park has made in the off-season, riding WindSeeker, and of course, dropping 264 feet on my favorite ride in the park, and seeing the person working there. I am also anxiously awaiting to hear what SOB's status will be for next season. -
Another Great Season Comes To A Close
Jasper replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Thank you for an amazing 2010 season Kings Island, best one I have ever had by far. See you in Spring of 2011!! -
I was in the red under armour hoodie with a Red Sox hat on. It was a very chilly ride, I thought that second ride was gonna freeze me over.

What is your favorite memory of the the 2010 season?
Jasper replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Riding the last train of the year on The Beast tonight with a lot of KIC'ers. The fog was dense in the second tunnel and the ride was pitch black and out of control. Hands down the best memory of the 2010 season was this whole day in general. I absolutely loved it. EDIT-Also crushing on someone working at Kings Island today, I will never tell however. Gotta love silly crushes you get at age 19. -
Haha I was also there for The Beast last trains! But I dont know anyone from the site here in person:( But I figured there'd be a few there! I didn't know but a couple, I am like you though, I figured that there was a lot there that I didn't know.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Jasper replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I am still choosing to be optimistic that it will open for the 2011 season. Although, today I was in line for Slingshot and the operator shot a nasty rumor out that they were tearing it down to build a major coaster for KI's 40th Anniversary. -
Another season in the books, and I mist say it was one of the best. For me, I got to the park 10 times, which is a lot, and made some unforgettable memories. After tonight, it is going to be hard to top, it was an amazing day at the park. Got to ride everything multiple times with no waits at all, from what I saw Firehawk never had a line in the queue's. Then I got to ride The Beast on one of the last trains of the year, with fighting31irish, Adam Kaplan, Jackson, and I am pretty sure I even saw CoasterRZ there as well. It was good to see a bunch of enthusiasts doing what they love. That is why I love Kings Island so much. Thank you for another great season Kings Island, this one was amazing. As your sign out front said, "See you in Spring 2011!" And thank you to all KIC and KIC Members for making this season so memorable.

Perhaps buckets for a bucket lift for Flight Deck's new paint job. I love being way over optimistic.

On my last trip on Sunday Drop Tower was not spinning at all. I am glad to hear that it is now back to spinning, even though you don't get an amazing view, it is still a nice addition to the ride in my opinion.

Very nice find, I might have to fire up Google Earth and see if there is an update for it or what not because I love browsing on there and seeing what I can find. Like some people though, last I saw on Google Earth of KI, the Antique Cars were still there in my version.

The park yesterday was literally open game for any ride. The longest I had to wait was for Vortex and Diamondback both because someone puked and they had to clean it out. Firehawk was maybe a 5 minute wait at the most and that is hard to come by. Delirium cycled through with only about 30 people on it several times and Invertigo never had more than a one train wait. I got in my 5 marathon rides on my baby, each one was one cycle at the most.

holy jam packed park, Batman!
Jasper replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
In Kings Island last Saturday, the 9th, there were 40,000 plus people there. I could not imagine walking around in a park with 60,000 on hand. That many people almost brings the park down to a level of not being fun anymore, however, I enjoy Kings Island or Cedar Point no matter what the crowds because honestly, it's not about the rides you get to ride or not ride, it's about who you are with and the memories you make. Last week I waited an hour and fifteen minutes for Drop Tower, I could have by passed it because of the long line, sure, but my mentality is this, you are going to have to wait in line no matter where you go, so why not wait for something you love to ride. Business is business and the parks love and live for these type days where big crowds are brought out to enjoy the park. We cannot sit here and point fingers at them and say, "You only come because of Haunt! Do you even like riding the coasters?" Sometimes it can be hard in a big environment with a lot of people to have fun, but when your at an amusement park, make the best out of a bad situation. I even some times look at it this way, how many people back home that love Kings Island can say they have been here on a day like today, I waited through all the turnstials on The Beast and it was still out onto the midway, but you know what, it was one of the best rides I have ever had on that coaster. Bottom line is, enjoy it, no matter the crowds, because when off-season hits us, you will be wishing you had days to still go to the park. (Jasper, steps down off of soap box.) -
I had thought it was half an hour, but I was not sure so I came on here to check before I left Richmond. Now I can have a peaceful laid back drive and not try and rush to get to the park to ride early.

^As if they ran anyway, I think I was there twice and saw them running both sides. Never the less, I hope tomorrow is not near as crowded. -

When I first saw the topic title I was like oh no, another 40,000 plus day at KI. That is a lot of people though, from the looks of TTD it has spilled out even back into the midway. -
Watch towards the middle of this video, you can see the queue under the station and it shows the new ride in action along with the beginning of the line and the fog.
-
I remember going through Elvira's Superstition one year and I think it opened up around 5, I could be wrong though. I will be at the park for a little while tomorrow so I am hoping for short lines and small crowds because from what I have heard Sundays usually aren't too bad crowded.

Does anyone remember what year they went from red paint to the atrocious silver color scheme we have on it today.
-
Also don't forget, I don't remember the technical name for them, the Helicopter Tours used to be right beside Flight of Fear and Firehawk, I think there is still a concrete pad over there next to Trail Of Terror's exit.

SFMM adding 3 new coasters for 2011
Jasper replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I saw this on Twitter this morning and could not believe it, Superman going backwards? I am anxious to see people's reactions when they get off this ride. -
I have recently been on a Paramount binge here lately and this site's old pictures as well as the internet cannot satisfy my need to see the park at my favorite era, does anyone have any pictures of Paramount era KI that they can post on here. I like to look at the park from a nostalgic point of view and go back in time to when I was a kid visiting Kings Island on what seemed like summer vacation trips.
-
They have enough Que already for the line of ten people. JMG I beg to differ, where you in the park last Saturday by any chance? I counted many more than ten people.
-
I am going to set up camp in the last row of The Beast around 7:00 and wait and wait and wait.
-
Remnants of those old defunct rides can still be found in the park today, such as Cobra's footers, Bat's footers, and Flight Commander's old queue line.
-
I do remember the trailer being parked out there that sold on ride photos. Looking back, I wish I would have gotten an on ride photo while I had the chance, same goes for every Paramount themed ride that had an on ride photo, heck, I just wish I would have bought on ride photos that contained the PKI logo on them.
