  1. Very interesting find Terpy, this poll is kind of funny now if you think about it. 6 years ago who would have ever thought of all the changes that would take place in Hanna-Barbera Land?
  2. Speaking of vomiting on a roller coaster, I remember waiting in line for Son of Beast back in 2003 I think it was. When the train came back into the station a young woman had thrown up all over the guy behind her in a cut off shirt. Talk about a guy being ****ed and drenched in puke.
  3. In my honest opinion, yes, I think 2009 was the best season for the park, since I can remember. The park looked beautiful year round, had tons of visitors, and also got a brand new B&M hyper. Every time I was at the park this year it truly left me in awe every time I left. The only bad point I can find is Son of Beast closing down, but that never affected my visit at all.
  4. I just received my first job in September working here at Kohls, all I put on my application was my name and address. I had no other employment experience so I did not put any. I received the job thankfully and now I have a building block to start on.
  5. Well said Scooby, The Beast at night takes on a new leash. The Beast at night becomes untamed, out of control, and one of the best night rides on earth. Oh wait, it does that anyway.
  6. While I do think some of the names are corny, you have to think about this, Peanuts does not have all the characters to go along with every ride in Nick U like Nickelodeon did. Nickelodeon had a ton of character names, that is why all the ride names were original. There are going to be some repeat names, actually a couple of repeat names. I for one am anxious though to see how the rides transform in the off-season.
  7. I for one would love to get stuck on top no matter how cold the weather is. Rain on the other hand is a different story, unless it was about 96 degrees outside.
  8. Sadly my ride count at Diamondback peaked at a mere 40. In my 8 visits to the park though that averages out to about 5 rides a visit. Not too bad considering some days I went and the line was well beyond the 30 minute mark.
  9. I don't think me being 6'4" would get me to be a character either. Besides, I don't wanna go around the park all day with a football being pulled out from underneath me.
  10. Thank you again KIC Moderators, thank you for a job well done. Not only in keeping the spam down on this site, which I might add is most of the time offensive, vulgar, and disturbing, but as well as keeping the forums updated and monitored. Thank you again!
  11. Nice Trip Report Giga. Glad you got at least enjoy one park's closing day. For some on here Cedar Point is their home away from Kings Island., at least for me it is. Also glad you got to say goodbye to the best steel coaster on earth as well.
  12. Wow Dave, that is the best Halloween costume I have ever seen. If your daughter came to my house Trick-Or-Treating I would fill up that whole car she is wearing with every bit of candy I have. The other kids would just have to take notes.
  13. On the way home from work last night I was thinking about Kings Island closing for the season and I was also listening to Theory Of A Deadman's, Scars & Souvenirs Album. When I was thinking of riding all the water rides a song came on called, "End Of The Summer." This song almost brought tears to my eyes thinking about all the great memories I have had at the park over the past year. Thank You Kings Island! Thank you for a great season, see you next year!
  14. Blog Read the Entertainer auditions section and look at the dates. Out beside them it has the character auditions.
  15. That article reads that, The new Diamondback roller coaster at Kings Island ended the 2009 season with more than 1.85 million rides given – the most rides given by a new attraction at the park since The Vortex made its debut 22 years ago in 1987 (2.18 million rides given). Does that mean that Vortex gave 2.18 Million rides in it's first season? If so then wow, I thought Diamondback had capacity.
  16. I completely forgot about this memory. June 25th, I was sitting in front of the Slingshot. I received a phone call from my mother, "Michael Jackson just died" At the time I was like that's bad, I liked his music. When I got home from the park that day, the TV was going mad with the story of him dying. I can always say I was at Kings Island the day The King Of Pop died.
  17. Garrrr!!! You lucky people who went today and got to ride it! I didn't even get to ride my baby the last day I was at the park this year. Have no fear though, opening day next year, first ride will be Drop Tower.
  18. Very nice Trip Report Gordan! I had no idea either how they got their name. I think I would almost rather swim in the war than ride one of those. I would have loved to have seen Gordan Bombay riding the Mighty Duck of Cincinnati.
  19. So we arrived at the park around 7:15 and the parking lot looked really crowded. I was thinking to myself, "Great, this day is gonna be packed to the gills." We managed to slink our way into the park and see the amazing scenery set up all down International Street. I had been there last Saturday so I had already seen it but the rest of my group had not. We walked over towards Diamondback and started to wait in line for CarnEvil but we decided we wold come back later. Went over to see Diamondback with almost a full queue line. Waited in the line anyway and it only took about 20-25 minutes, Diamondback has a great capacity. After Diamondback came our first of many Haunts of the night, Tombstone Terrortory. Tombstone-2/5-The train ride caught a lot of people on the train off-guard. I had been through this Haunt last year and knew the general plot. There were some points where things scared me and then there were some point where I was like there could be a lot more done with this Haunt. I had to lead the group through so normally the ScareActors would skip me and just scare the two girls behind me. Overall the best part was the guy with the hammer under the bridge. Provided a really cool effect. I am just going to give you the ride portion of the TR later on, for now I will skip to the Haunt list. Urgent Scare-5/5-This Haunt was one of the best I have ever been through. Starting with the guy out front in the line. I can't quite remember what his name tag said but he kept on scaring my girlfriend and her friend and it was priceless. Walking through the Hospital I had to lead the group, again, and got quite a few good scares. I love how all of KI's haunts seem to revolve around loud noises on the wall and the element of surprise. Walking through Urgent Scare provided me with a ton of good screams. I loved the picture at the beginning part and had an idea what they were doing. Our first picture has me cringing even before the picture was taken and then the second one has me jumping out of my skin. Even the exit path was great and the bungee guy was priceless. Great haunt! Massacre Manor-5/5-Is there a way I can rate this haunt above a 5? This was great! The dress room was really terrifying and made my girlfriend lose my hand and run back to the end of the group. Being in a tight space I think added to the thrill factor of this haunt. One of the more scary parts was the guy closing the door really hard in the room with the cage. There were so many parts where I would just stop walking and be like you have got to be kidding me, I have to walk through there? Overall one of the best haunts I have ever had the pleasure to go through. Trail Of Terror-4/5-This is one of the most underrated haunts in the park. Walking through the woods gives a great effect of being out in the woods and lost. The masks added another thrill factor to the maze as it was good to have a break from the makeup on every ScareActor. The part where the two guys were wielding chainsaws was one of the best parts. My girlfriend was holding her friends hand and he took his blade and separated them with it and held it in the middle of them. Very underrated and is a must go through haunt. Club Blood-3/5-Did not really understand the theming in this Haunt. I don't know what Club has monsters in it but it was overall pretty good. The first part we could not decide which way to go so we stopped next to the motorcycles and got one of the best scares of the night. Those of ou that have been through the maze know exactly what I am talking about. I am pretty sure I saw UncleHenry in the maze as well. HE got us really good when he popped out right before we went through the mirrors. Got some pretty good scares out of this haunt and got a few good laughs as well. Cornstalkers-1/5-I was not impressed with this at all. It seemed like the ScareActors were getting tired of standing in the rain and just wanted to go home. There was maybe one part that scared me pretty good. I think there could have been a lot more done with this one, as in utilizing the scenery to jump out and scare people a lot more. Was not very impressed. That ends it for the haunt part. Got to go through a majority of the houses. By far Massacre Manor was the best, followed closely by Urgent Scare. We did not get to go through Cemetery Drive, CarnEvil, Cutthroat Cove, Death Row, or Slaughter House. I am confident though that we did get to do the best ones. All of the haunts we did had points that made me jump and some of them even made me duck and almost take off running. I was very impressed with all of them. Way to go KI! Ok for the rides. Got to ride Diamondback at the end of the night without getting off in the pelting rain and talked to a person who got let off Trail Of Terror early and he even came over to ride Diamondback. He is truly a hardcore fan. The ride experience in the dark was very cool and the rain added to the thrill of the ride. It did sting a little bit though. Our next ride was Vortex. Got over as soon as they were opening the rode back up and waited through a full queue station house and rode in the very back seat. I loved this ride at night. It felt like you were out of control and just flying through the darkness. After this our next and second to last ride was Invertigo. Very short line, walk on actually. Rode 5 times in a row without getting off, just switching up seats.I loved Invertigo and ride it anytime I can ride the ride with a short wait. Our last ride of the day was Delirium. Technically Diamondback was but this was our last ride we had not rode yet. It really fit the description, being caught in the middle of a giant storm. With the rain and wind, it really did feel like it. I loved the feeling of the rain hitting me at a different angle every time I came down on a swing. Great trip to the park. The rain got us very cold and we had to sit in the parking lot til about 1:20 because our windshield would not defrost at all. Rode home in my boxers and a T-Shirt due to my other clothes being soaking wet. Great night of haunt though. Hopefully this will be one of many. Thank you for reading.
  20. Just followed you on Twitter, have a great time! Look forward to seeing updates.
  21. I went to the park last night and when I walked in I saw Drop Tower going with people on it! I was so excited and was so ready to ride. Well sure enough it closes down for the night. I was still happy to see the ride running. Seems like they must have gotten the cable fixed if that truly was the issue.
  22. Yes the cover art was very nice. I love these books. I have only read the second one once and I don't recall it being better than the first. The first was amazing though. Firelight Torch Park and P.D. Walters. Classic scene and a classic ghost to go along with it. I also love the part about James talking about the change underneath The Vortex.
  23. Here in Richmond the weather is looking really nice, sunshine and about mid 70's. I wore shorts to class today and a T-shirt if that tells you anything. Hoping there comes at least a little bit of rain to dampen down the crowds. I guess we will just have to see how it goes when we arrive tonight.
  24. ^Why not have the most epic merge since the websites? What's Up On The Island merges with The Official KIC Podcast!! A merger of epic proportions.
  25. I will be going up to the park tomorrow night for Haunt and to hopefully get in some last rides of the season for me. Any ideas on what the crowds are going to be like. I know they are forecasting a lot of rain for the Mason area so that might effect the crowd number some. I know that from what I have read on here that Friday's are normally not crowded at all, but, with this being the night before Halloween I wonder if there will be a ton of more people there. I also know that crowd numbers are so unpredictable that it isn't funny. Any insight would help. Thank you!
