KENTUCKY KINGDOM CLOSED
Jasper replied to PKIDelirium's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am really sad to see the park closing. I had only went about 3 times but it was a nice little park with, at one time, a nice selection of rides. Chang being the staple obviously was their best coaster IMO. Sadly though, I never got to ride T2 or Greezed Lightnin'. I did though however, get to experience Hellavator when it was just that, Hellavator. -
I saw this commercial and I immediatley thought about how much I loved the park when I first visited 3 years later in 1996 when I was but a wee 4 years of age. I love the park now and I loved the park back then. I wish Top Gun...er Flight Deck, looked the way today it did when it opened in 1993.

^Those days are the worst, where you get to having about an hour left to go before closing and you think, oh wait, I forgot to ride something. I have never seen an hour go any faster than when you are at Kings Island either.

Opening day is drawing nearer and nearer every day. 72 Days, 10 hours, and 59 minutes to be exact at the moment.

Happy B-Day White Water Canyon, here's to 25 more years? I have a couple of stories on this ride. One being that me and my family rode this one summer night when I was about 12 or 13, I think we rode it 6 times in a row. Well we had to go to the gift shop afterward to buy a change of clothes due to my aunt having a new car and how wet we were. That is where I got my bright yellow Beast shirt. Story number two would have to be what happened this year. I visited the park on the Monday before July 4th, not expecting a big crowd of course, wrong. The line extended almost all the way back to the first covered bridge you walk over. We waited anyway which made the ride that day just that much more special.

^Wow Terpy, that one made me spit my Canada Dry all over my screen.

Like I said last time, I will be there in spirit, it is just too far away for me to make it up there and back especially considering I have class early the next morning. I really wish I could be there though.

BGW's 2010 Announcement
Jasper replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I haven't been to BGE since they debuted Griffon. I have really been wanting to get back down there and ride Griffon, this announcement just makes me want to go that much more. -
Surprise surprise, The Voyage and The Beast are the only 2 coasters really in the running for number 1.

My favorite KI slogan is definitely the old one they used in 1994 and the one that was used from 2005-2006. The first being, "Kings Island, where the magic of the movies meet the thrills of a lifetime." The one from 05-06, "Kings Island, The Best in Hollywood Entertainment, Now Playing." This new slogan will take a while to stick on me, I think eventually it will though.

You got room in that boat for two?

I think Diamondback has a very nice storage operation going on, you board the brown train, place your loose articles in the brown train's bin. As soon as you leave the ride op closes the brown train bin and opens up the incoming train's bin. I have found this system to work very well in the overall time it takes, as well as the security of my items.

If Drop Tower would get an on ride video system, I'd have more DVD's than Netflix and Blockbuster combined.

Another very nice video from Coasterbob. As a subscriber I had already seen this video and love watching all of the rest of his videos. Most of them show Kings Island from a very rare perspective and from a date and time of which I cannot say I was around.

I remember riding Flight of Fear only once or twice when they had the on-board video cameras. I, like others, think that Firehawk would have been a good alternative to have the cameras on. I was actually really close to buying a video of me on Raptor due to it was the first time I had been to CP in a while and I made some pretty funny faces and appeared to be talking to myself the whole time.

I have been at the mercy of The Beast and it's phone stealing habits before. I got up off the ride and walked all the way to the Eiffel Tower to find my phone was missing. So me and my uncle walked back to The Beast because that was the last place I remember having it. Luckily, and I do mean luckily, someone had been gracious enough to turn in my phone to the ride op, either that or the ride op himself found it, and I retrieved it with ease. I would not recommend bring expensive cameras to the park unless you plan on leaving them with a non-rider, or putting them into a locker. Nothing is safe at Kings Island. You are pretty much putting your trust into the hands of countless amounts of people.

Attraction Awards of the Decade
Jasper replied to coaster_junky's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I voted the biggest fail as none other than SOB because in the long run I think it has run it's course and is like a good run at the top, it was a long and confusing ride, but all things must come to an end. -
I have found though a better plan is to hit Firehawk first to avoid the long lines about mid day.
-
^Most of those songs I noticed are either from Rock Band our Guitar Hero, could it be because you played the Guitar Hero Arcade game that was beside Adventure Express.
-
I just go to whatever has the shortest lines mainly. I go to either Diamondback or The Beast first though always. I also have to get a ride in on Drop Tower every time I am at the park.

Themeparks on google maps
Jasper replied to DropZone99's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Very nice find, I have never seen a view from Griffon's midway in BGE and I finally got to see what it was like. -
I have actually been on a ride before where they have stopped the car before it even got out of the station, this ride was Flight Deck and they stopped the back half still in the station to tell an individual to put their phone away. I do not know why individuals keep doing these rule breaking acts. Like people who go on Drop Tower and put a penny on they're knee to watch it float. When that thing hits the ground it hits with a pretty hard thud that could injure someone, maybe not severly, but just enough to cause discomfort.

I spent a lot of time in those non moveable cars! Especially in HB land, but of course I was 5-7 when I visited KI with my family. Were they actually the Flintstone's cars or were they from The Busy World Of Richard Scarry?
