What evidence do you have to support that Top Gun has low ridership? It has some of the best capacity in the park. All rides will have rust on them somewhere, while it may look bad, it does not always mean the ride is unsafe. The ride does not have a wearing chain lift. The chain lift slows down automatically as you climb the lift hill while the train ahead of it clears the breaks and goes into the station. If that train does not clear the brakes the train on the lift hill will stop before clearing the lift so as to prevent a collision. Rather than having it stop each time they just slow down the lift hill and time it accordingly. The ride wasn't always like this, but modification to the brakes before the station cause the train to take longer to go from there to the station, hence the lift hill jogging. One thing I always wish our Top Gun had was the glass bottoms on the lift hill like The Bat and many of the other suspended coasters had. It just looks so much nicer. Did it originally have one of those? Both Top Gun and its cousin Vortex up north have those nasty chain link fences.

The Most Blood Curdling Coasters
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Does anyone know what Titan's reputation is as far as downtime and maintenance? -
I don't remember seeing it there! I wish I had, I definitely would have ridden that for old time's sake. But, I had my second worst experience ever at a park at KK, and I swore I would never go back. (The worst experience was at LaSourdesville Lake). What was your bad experience at LL?

No. Cliff Hanger is their top spin. Shockwave is a different flat.

As it is designed to do this, the ride has to have some give to it. Come to KIC day and stand back by The Beast on the tour. Right before the train comes rushing by you can hear the start to tighten up and move right before a train comes though. An excellent example is Top Thrill Dragster compared to Kingda Ka. The state of New Jersey ordered that the ride have more supports than the original design, the end result; there is less give to the forces caused by the launching train. You can notice a substansial difference in smoothness between TTD and KK simply because KK is braced more.

I think Waffle House would lose a lot of its business if that was the reason.

*slaps head* my bad man, i kept reading that "I didnt read any of the posts...." rather than "I didnt read IN any of the posts..." My mistake, and my apoligies.

ACE probably wouldn't be bashed if so many members were out there giving it a bad name. CoastersRZ on this site is in ACE and he is an amazing guy, definently one of my favorite people to go to the park with, unfortuanently, many others in ACE give it a bad rep.

If the event possibly becomes an upcharge? It will be an upcharge in 2008. Ryan mentioned the possibility, but that has not been 100 percent announced or confirmed, as hauntguy said lol. We're back on topic now, and if anyone is gonna question the original poster, any other poster in this topic, or chime in their opinions, the least you can do is read the entire topic to get a feel for the context and subject being discussed. The problem was not the crowds, he expected that he said. He said he had a problem with how the crowds were handled and regulated and wished it had been done in a similar fashion to Knott's event which is what they're trying to model KI's after in a few ways.

You people in here made it sound like "YOU" knew everything and I knew nothing. I am sick and tired of repeatedly explaining this to you all. The only reason I mentioned any of that STUPID CRAP is to get you people off my back about being some randomly stupid idiot. That is NOT what I am. I have explained this over and over and over and over. I also find it convenient to gripe about me throwing out numbers of coasters and then turning around and telling me how many coasters there are in the country and the world. I am sorry that I haven't posted in here over 1,000 or 2,000 times, but that doesn't make me an idiot. It was a trip report people. Plain and simple. So what your trying to say is that you are an experienced park-goer who has experienced halloween events and visited parks throughout many years, Kings Island being one of them. The topic here is not teh validity of golden ticket awards or ACE or any other coaster club for that matter. Jackson is obviously an experienced park goer and member of the general public, he did not have the best experience with his visit to HH but believe it will be better in the future. We all make trip reports, we all have opinions on the events at the park, this topic is his report. So lets discuss the report and similar experiences/disimilar experiences at the park rathet than flaming eachother: I enjoyed HH this year, having gone on both friday and saturday nights. As a member of the media where you got exclusive treatment and as a regular guest who had to wait in long lines. I too look forward to seeing if the event possibly becomes an upcharge and if that helps crowds any as well as seeing the event come more up to par with the Knott's event if the park decides to keep going this direction with the event.

I really wish Snakes On A Plane would be turned into a themed ride. Oh, if only Iwerks would make a 4d movie for their theatres themed to that movie! I absolutely hate snakes, but that movie is hands down a great movie. Gotta love Samuel L. Jackson. No, im not kidding.

You should'nt have stopped.

Yeah, i rode it at Geauga Lake in 2005 when Boddah, Dane, Zosobeast, and I went. The ride is a neat idea but I found it to be pretty painful. You pull down the safety restaint onto your lap and it locks into place as well as some strange shoulder restaints come down and press onto your shoudlers. Once you've locked those in place, the begins, but before you go spinning the restraints move down just a little bit more automatically, much like Delirium and Tomb Raider except the ones on Time Warp are really painful and not very accomidating to male anatomy.

I would love to see the ferris wheel from GL at KI. Does anyone remember the hot air baloon themed Ferris Wheel that Forest Fair Mall (now known as Cincinnati MIlls)? I wonder where that went as well as their carousel. As for time warp, just scrap it. Id rather just get kicked in the stomach for 2 minutes.

Good point brown, you cant make everyone happy and the policy does exist ultimately for safety. As much as people want to criticize Cedar Fair for many things and thier objective with their parks, its pretty universal that safety is always their first concern over profit.
-
Brown, im glad to see I'm not the only one who has problems with those things when golfing. Usually if they are hissing at you it can be because they are nesting and guarding their eggs. This past summer I was going to tee off at wildwood in Fairfield and one was nesting on the tee box about 20 feet from where i was teeing off. The thing would not shut up. At the Rave movie theatre in West Chester for awhile they had Geese nesting on the side of buidling and they had to block off part of the area to keep people from annoying it.

Alright, i think its time I told you all what Interpreters little crane poem is hinting at. Next year at Kings Island there will be cranes, lots of them. Very tall ones too. 2008 will be yet another year to be remembered at Kings Island! In accordance with Cedar Fair's commitment to providing world class thrills, they will roll out one of the most interesting and innovative Capital investments every seen in Kings Island's or any amusment parks history. Get ready for 2008 kids: Remember, all those lame, boring, rude, and arrogant geese you saw roaming the park around the Italian Job and Oktoberfest ponds? Well, in accordance with Cedar Fair's commitment, as seen with Halloween Haunt, to make the park more mature and as Hauntguy likes to point out; to the point where "nothing is off limits"; Cedar Fair will do away with all those annoying Geese and take the bird life at Kings Island to the next level. Thats right, next year hudnreds of the worlds most intense, and in your face birds will roam the park, with more birds than ever! New at KI in 2008: Gruzs antigone antigone At Kings Island in 2008: Nothing is off limits, not even the birds! Warning: Cranes are not reccomended for anyone under the age of 13 or afraid of birds.

Apparently they are a prety bad maintenace strain. CP wants to get rid of theirs, GL canned theirs (back when there was a GL), and SFGADV got rid of theirs last season.

Fire Threatens Magic Mountain

Yep, you can even do the VHS tapes with teh dazzle. You just use an S-video cable from the VCR straight to the dazzle and into your computer. -

There sure is a way....check out the Dazzle...it allows you to connect S-Video and your standard A/V cables to your compter to be recorded on its Pinnacle software and saved to your comptuer...takes some work and trial but its pretty cool to use and there are older cheaper models than that. Best Buy usually has a pretty good deal on them. I use one to backup up family videos for my parents. -
