  1. Or even just a classic log flume would be a nice fit at that park. I'd love to see a nice wooden coaster or log flume appaer at Coney. Kind of turn Coney into a Holiday World that I can enjoy.
  2. Nick made me a believe. I now know the truth about John Delorean.

  3. Excellent point, i did overlook the fact they do own frito lay and KI does have a lot of Frito Lay products. Maybe is not a sign after all.
  4. I too would rather have Pepsi at the park than Coke. I've stopped drinking except for on certain occasions but I prefer Gatorade over Powerade any day.
  5. Kings Island has traditionally been a favorite place to guzzle down a fine Coke product on a hot day. Paramount Parks (under CBS) signed a 5 year contract wtih Coke in 2006 before the aquisition by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. However it is well known that the legacy parks of CF have traditionally in recent years served Pepsi products and continue to still do so while the Paramount parks have continued to serve Coke products although maybe that will change? Awhile ago a similar article was posted about a woman working in KI's cash offices who was caught stealing money, recently I cam across a similar article... http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...08230362/-1/all According to the article, the woman was caught when it had been found that Pepsi had not been paid a $75,000 bill (which was the cost in a month, according to the article). KI has continued to serve Coke products this year. It makes one wonder if maybe the park is preparing to serve Pepsi for the upcoming 2008 season. On the other hand, it could be an errror in reporting, maybe Mrs. Hutzel meant to say Coke or maybe the Enquirer got it wrong.
  6. I dont know why they do that, its rather odd. By law a minor must have one 1/2 hour long break every 5 hours of an open work shift and must be clocked out from their job by 11 P.M. if they are enrolled in school and it is a school night. However, on a night when there isn't school they are not restricted by how late they can work according to Ohio Revised Code chapter 4109: ( http://198.234.41.198/w3/webwh.nsf/Files/M...E/MLLPoster.pdf ). Also, citywide weekend curfews for minors are hardly in existence anymore around this area. The city of Fairfield did away with theirs in 2006 ( I was stopped in 2005 by a polic officer who questioned me about why I was out so late and had to show proof that I was returning from my place of employment ). Most city's have an exception in thier curfews for minors going to and from places of employment. I dont believe Mason has a curfew, my last year of High School ( 2007 ) We did a civics day project with schools in Mason and one of the things we debated was city wide curfews and to my knowledge at that time Mason had no curfew. It could be a CF company rule, if so, I beleive they're wasting their time by staying open so late.
  7. Sorry kwind, your a little late to the punch. Two Face at Six Flags America stalls. Closed.
  8. We're going back to the moon, then to Mars, and we're building rollercoasters while we're at it. I just hope the reliability of this one is good. I wonder if when this is built if it will go on RCDB?
  9. I have one of those back at my house in Cincinnati that I recovered from the Crosley Building, cleaned it up and it still works fine. The best part is its red too, like the phone Commishoner Gordon used to use to call Batman.
  10. DiSab, you do know its always had trims on teh first drop right? Let the unforgivng begin! Woofer can help you.....im sure he'll blame this one on Paramount.
  11. Hey, im in that photo too! Just a lot further back. Next time were in a commercial filming and the woman asks "who wants to be put in make up?", i wont say no.
  12. There are trims on the first drop and there always have been... 2006: -Note the trim brakes in the bottom of the picture right in front of the train. 1979: -Note the older style "skid" trim brakes on the first drop. The Beast has always had trim brakes, just different types of technology throughout the years, it has always gone the same speed, now you are just stopped more abruptly.
  13. The station master can still speak, you just have to talk to the right person to hear about the closing of the main tunnel.
  14. I really wouldn't lend much credibility to the guy who cant even spell "cost", much less even get the facts right about the theming contractual agreements which have been pointed out to him multiple times in this topic. I think the evidence Todd has pointed out is a pretty good indication of things to come.
  15. Fixed. Nice trip report. Glad you had a good time. Sorry to hear that the worksite was a bit lame, thats my favorite one at the park.
  16. ^Are you hinting that CF may try to close KI? If so, thats the funniest thing I've read all day, it almost as funny as Beast1979's logic.
  17. Originally there we plans to have a giant drop on the stop where Flight Commander used to be but those plans changed when Paramount decided to go for the gyro drop as part of the Action Zone expansion in 1999.
  18. Come on guys he has dial up, you know...the "ORIGIONAL" internet, leave him alone.
  19. hahah ok fan of beast. While I personally prefer Beast over SOB (and you know this for a fact ), let jsut say that Villain in 2006 was far more rough than SOB in 2006.
  20. While the base colors of red and yellow were the same as well as the patterns of red and yellow, the "bio hazard" markings were nt originally found on The Beast trains. Today SOB has been retrofitted with Gerstauler trains and now has red and blue trains.
  21. The Villain is an awful rollercoaster, rougher than SOB, maybe KI could better up keep it, but that would be hard as even when the thing was smooth it still sucked. Just cause its posted on GL Today does not make it fact, just pure speculation like on here. Oh and Cstrwoman if your gonna claim wild rumors nad what not are on this site or that site, how about doing us all the minor conveinence and taking two seconds to link to those pages.
  22. It says that there is no "Grandfathering" of buildings. No grandfathering to me is no grandfathering. ie - They need to close the second floor to the Golden Lamb Inn as it does not accomodate to ADA. Further, all of these plantations, throughout Virginian, Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina should be closed as there are usually tall stairways that do not accomodate to ADA. There is no grandfathering after all. Once again, nowhere did it say it had to be closed. Try reading the topic again. Just becuase there is no grandfathering does not mean a building is forced to close. Like interpreter said earlier, usually the only time a building is forced to be brought up to the proper accomidations is when a complain is filed and a judge orders it to be brought up to code. My high school never had an elevator but as soon as there was a complaint one was built. Your junior college may have brought themselves up to code in order to appeal to more prospective students however, if a handicapped person had complained or not been permitted the full oppourtunity of that college due to limited access of the building, all it would talk is a complain and a judges order to have it be brought up to code. There is no grandfathering. My uncle is a alwyer, he is also disabled and does work in regards to ADA disputes at his company.
  23. JZ, in response to your earlier question, Disney still owns the property in Hilton Head, both the beach front pool house and property as well as their condos near Shelter Cove. I went to Hilton Head this summer, it was my 4th time, every time we stay in those DVC resorts. They're very nice and a great value however they're staring to show their age.
  24. Makes me think of the many historic sites throughout the country. Take a look at the Inns and buildings in Williamsburg, VA. Now under what was posted by Interp, there is no grandfathering of such structures. So what? We're supposed to close a building that has been in operation for 200 some years because it's no "accessable" to all people? I can understand making and abiding by rules for buildings that were built after a rule came into existance. To expect retroactive compliance at the detrement of others seems just a little far fetching. Don't ya think? No where in what interp posted or said does it say those historical land marks have to be closed.
  25. In recent times, if a venue has long been closed to the public, it usually must be brought into compliance before being reopened. Among factors looked at in whether something is reasonable: how public is the access? what cost would be incurred to make accommodations? how much money is available to the facility owner? what provisions have already been made to provide universal access? Note that IR has been open for other events in recent years, including Nights of Fire and semi-public events like group meetings. Kinda scary that it's reached such a point that the government imposes such arbitrary rules. Sad to think how such decisions would affect historical sites and buildings throughout the country. Yeah man, the federal government is really becoming a facist state, trying to help out those with disabilities....the nerve they have.
