IJ will be open during Fearfest.
-
Just beause the rides are not listed on the HH site doesnt mean they wont be open for HH. Last year they listed the same rides (with the exception of Firehawk obvioulsy) and most of the rides were open with the exception of Nickelodeon Universe and WWC. IJ:ST will be open for Halloween Haunt.

Up untill the 2006 accident SOB had relatively very good uptime where King Cobra towards the end of its life had quite a bit of downtime. KC and SOB are not the same rides so just because SOB is still around does not disprove the KC theory about its removal due to sky rocketing maintenance costs and iffy reliabilty, which was proven true by the man who contributed these photos of the ride who is a former steel coaster maintenance worker at the park. The maintenance done on SOB is not the same done on KC, different strokes for different folks so to speakl. If it was cheaper for CF to just give up and tear the good ol SOB down, than im sure the current debt loaded Cedar Fair would have already gone that route.

Although, Firehawk is not what replaced King Cobra, Delirium now stands where King Cobra used to be.

I dont think it was necesarily "bad" but it was of a lower grade and didnt age as well as its cousins which were made of a different grade.

Sadly theres no Chipotle here in Athens...

The ironic thing about this is that Cedar Fair will put in better things at KI than KI received the whole time it was Paramounts "flagship park." We were the flagship park? I dont ever remember the park being called that in press releases or the website or anything. If you go buy which Paramount Park perofrmed the best.....PCW did much higher attendance than PKI did.

Actually Cedar Fair is not up for sale. Read this here: http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2007/07...port_of_sa.html The ride was actually changed due to the whole kids area being re-themed from "Nickelodeon Central and Hannah Barbera Land" to "Nickelodeon Universe", not because The Beastie theme was "Too frightening". The Beastie became themed to a popular kids t.v. show on Nickelodeon known as "The Fairly Odd Parents". I know you may be upset that they got rid of the name "Beastie" but hey, some people were just as upset as when "Scooby Doo" became "Beastie". Well KCKC, didn't make its debut at the worlds fair, but the Arrow hydroflume did. KCKC toward the end of its life was a maintenance nightmare as were many other hydroflume and most have them have been removed from parks. Six Flags Great Adventure suffered similar problems with their KCKC and it eventually left this world the same way KI's and CP's did. Theres a good article about it here.... http://www.amusementpics.com/Hydro%20Flume.htm As for the Indiana Jones thing, Paramount couldn't theme any ride to Indiana Jones as since Speildberg and Lucas owned the rights and sold them to Disney. THis is why you have the Indiana Jones stunt show down at MGM. Adventure Express does play Indiana Jones music in line though, although not "officialy" themed to Indiana Jones. King Cobra wasn't removed because it couldn't "compete" with more modern stand up rollercoasters, in fact its clone and a similar model still operate at Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland. KC was made of a lower grade Japaneese steel that lead to sky rocketing maintenance costs towards the end of its life. During its final years it would often up late due to the fact that maintenance crews were out there performing welding work. It's cousins at Dominion and Wonderland were built of higher grades of steel and continue to operate today. I dont remember the park ever saying they removed Phantom Theatre because it was "too scary" but the attraction in that building traditonally changes about every 10 years. It was time for something new, of course as an adult, im assuming your an adult, you wont enjoy the scooby ride as much as younger kids were. I can see where you would be mad that PT got removed, i LOVED it too, but just as many people were made when the smurfs were given the boot for a Haunted Mansion rip off. Last time I checked even though the name and food changed slightly it is still an outdoor alcohol-peddling venue.

It has never been confirmed that they are getting rid of any movie themes. Last time I was at the park a signifigant amount of movie theming was still around and everytime Kinzel is questioned about the 10 year agreemetn they have with Paramount Motion Pictures and the 4 year for the Nick charecters, he says "we're still in discussions".

Golden Ticket Awards 2007
Gordon Bombay replied to Dvo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
haha I remember seeing that on my very first visit to CP and thinking Mean Streak would be fun.....oh Uncle Henry cand finish that story for me. -
Up untill I was 14 you couldn't get me to ride any rollercoaster larger than Adventure Express. Today, heights are still a little bit fearfulf or me but I've ridden Drop Zone so many times that I'm used to it. The only ride at KI that still makes me feel terrified every time I ride is Xtreme Skyflyer.

I prefer the Chipotle on Fields Ertel.

Disney switching to Pay-Per-FastPass?
Gordon Bombay replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
No, because that little girl's family is just not good enough to experience that! Well maybe they're good enough, but they just dont have the money to. My parents are wonderful people but right now they couldn't afford to take me and my 2 sisters to Disney for a week again, guess my family's just not good enough. -
I've considered CF's financial situation, it doesnt look good, but I'm looking at our sister park up North, and CF is building a massive B&M there.

How about sharing the vid you found.

Disney switching to Pay-Per-FastPass?
Gordon Bombay replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^Except theres no fast passes for lines to go and see the charecters. A daughter all excited to see Tinkerbell... The Father says, "Ok honey, we just have to wait in this line to see her like everyone else" Just because the fast pass systsem has a possibility of behing changed in favor of those who spend more money at the park does not in any way mean that guests who are spending less will be turned away. I have been to Disney once, that was in 2004, my family is in no way wealthy, and that trip for the 5 of us to go there was a massive drain on funds for my parents and for them it was well worth it. We didn't have fast passes, but I did notice that when you got your time for fast pass, if the regular que line was an hour long then the fast pass time was generally about that long too. Disney just has a patent on this idea, it doesn't necesarilly mean theyre going to impliment the idea. -
Hauntguy, do you remember when Dane, Ryan, and I came up the R.I.P. line last year on media night and all those people we cut gave you and us a bad look and I just stood there yelling with you? That was a blast.
