4 year old boy drowns in 2ft. section of Paramount's Great America's Great Barrier Reef wave pool: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,289161,00.html Certainly not good publicity for Cedar Fair when they are trying to put themselves up for sale with such a demand as keeping current management. A very tragic and unfrotuanate event, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young boy and those park employees and paramedics who did what they could to try and save his life.

Having been working with Ryan and Dane and watching them and the rest of the staff work very hard to get this event put together and now see it become a reality over the past few months I was greatly, greatly looking forward to it. When I saw the itinerary last week while talking with Ryan at the park I was even more psyched, unfortuanently the event came to fall on the day I leave for South Carolina and those plans are set and can not be changed. So I'll be there in spirit.

Cedar Fair is one park that does listen to the people so by signing this it will get noticed by the powers that be! Thanks Interpeter for your support.I want to make sure they get the message load and clear! Cedar Fair is in debt, Cedar Fair doesnt listen to their guests or employees, Cedar Fair is not the company it was even 5 years ago. Cedar Fair needs money and Cedar Fair will not listen to an internet petition to just lower food prices, theyll keep raising them untill eventually people stop eating in the parks. like KIBeast said, a more effective protest would be not buying or eating in park food.

Cedar Fair Looking For Buyers--That Would Keep Bosses
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Could any buyer be this naieve or want to take this risk? The reason theyre selling is because they took on too much at one time, and the reason they took on too much was because of the decisions the current mangement made and now the company has problems that the current mangement has yet to fix. Typical Dick Kinzel and Cedar Fair's arrogant attitude. I think anyone considering buying the chain and thinking about keeping the current mangement should talk to those lower on the totem pole and see what they think of Cedar Fair management. -Gordon Bombay, who is hoping that with hearing the news of CF's woe's, Fort Kinzel may once again become Fort Cooper! -
Cedar Fair Looking For Buyers--That Would Keep Bosses
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Amen woofer, amen! Although wouldnt it be more fitting to say "Cedar Fair.....the new old six flags". THe current Six Flags seems to be making quite a turn around! -
Who cares. It's not worth telling somone and it's just a ride.... Most people do care, especially the honest ones who waited in line, why should anyone get to cut? When the lines are over half an hour at the park even groups with dissabilities have booklets and are given times and wait just as long as the guests in the entrance queues.

I know these two coasters have similar layouts with a few different changes and differnt dips and such but how do the two coasters compare? I really wish Park River wouldve held onto Americana/Lesourdsville or that they would do something to bring the screechin eagle to Coney or atleast some other good coaster or a nice small woodie.
-
Robbie, I know you had been showing me some of your progress as you went along but I am very overly impressed with the final product. I think I may check out Coney this year to ride the Python, coney needs a wood coaster.

Don Helbig Named as New Public Relations Manager at Kings Island
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Well said Interpreter! I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Helbig and his family many times back in 2005 not only at KI but at Mighty Ducks hockey games, when I first heard the news I was over joyed. Welcome aboard Don and welcome back to Cincy! Best of luck to you! -Ronny -
Now by they, do you mean Paramount, or Cedar Fair? Because up until CF bought the parks, Tomb Raider still had a majority of their effects intact....you know, save the broken door and some of the lights on the Durma statue not working. Heck, even the FOG was still working last year, even with CBS at the helm. Dont give CBS that much credit (granted Cedar Fair does suck with theming more than them), the last time the fog worked was in 2005. In 2006 the fog worked at the beginning of the season and eventually they stopped having the ante-chamber show and stopped staffing an employee there as well as the door, music, and lights no longer worked in the ante-chamber. The pre-show room still played the movie but also lost its fog in 2006. This year in 2007, the flames outside of the ride cave stopped working as well as the spot lights hidden in the trees above the rides. The sound no longer works on the ride and the water in the lava pit scene just bubbles and no longer shoots up. With how bad the theming has gotten on that ride I will give the park credit for one thing, the kids working there have always been the nicest when I've ridden. I remember being able to look into the lava pit or after the final scene when you slowly come back down when the rides almost over and seeing shoes and trash everywhere, the past few years its always been clean as has all of the ride. Last month while waiting in line I saw a few of them and another employee in a tie cleaning change out of the queue line coverings. Great crew at that ride, right up there with those kids at The Beast!

Glad to see you and your girlfriend had a good time, I agree with you, I love that area in front of the waterfall over at the former paramount story and hope that CF tidys it up a little and keeps it as a nice garden area. That clanking before the drop on Son of Beast was probably just the train going over a set of anti-rollbacks just like the ones you hear before entering the second lift on The Beast or cresting over the hills before the divide on Racer. Im glad SOB is testing and I hope to ride it again but I dislike that the have a blue train, I liked hte old trains color scheme cause it was a throw back to The Beast's trains original paint scheme, its Son of Beast, not Son Of Racer.

B&M AT Wonderland
Gordon Bombay replied to peteytherocker's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Check his previous posts, he constantly makes up rumors about Canada's Wonderland, the last one he tried to tell everyone was that Canada's Wonderland was supposed to get Survivor the Rider this year. He's full of it, just checj his previous posts. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry135345 -
I remember back in last September Ryan, Dane, Zoso, and I as well as a few others were invited to the park to help film the fearfest commercial and we got to ride FOF 3 times in a row with the lights on! That was a nice day, wake up, go to school, leave school early, go to KI, dress up as a monster, rider fof 3 times, go have dinner.
-
According to what was released, Canada's Wonderland actually has the highest attendance in the chain and METRO has always had routes to Kings Island, those routes almost dissapeared this year, I agree with you though Joe, I think 2009 is the year of a major coaster.

^Maverick seems to be a marketing hint, that lake in Rivertown plus the abandoned mine building by wings would be perfect for maybe a similar ride. Now that, would be awesome. Reon you got me hoping now...

In one word: YES. Friday and Monday should be pretty laxed though.

I dont believe he ever said Firehawk caused his low blood sugar, if your read his closing few sentences he said he wont ride Firehawk again because he has bad memories and had a bad experience.

Comparing Bparrots post to the stories you hear about some of these types who you see on the news who are demanding money for supposed damages is a pretty bgi leap, hes demanded nothing from the park and even complimented on how they helped him and apoligized for when he was rude to them. Just because physically the restraints dont prevent him or any other guest from breathing doesnt mean someone can become frightened or worried and start to panic or get tense. All humans will do that and theres nothing on the fun and safety guide that warns against that. Bparrot has done nothing wrong and there is no medical reccomendation on the fun and safety guide that said he wasn't permitted to ride.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience parrot, last wendsday Boddah1994, Dane, and I got stuck in the down position before our train dispatched and while I didnt experience the problems you did, it was uncomfortable. I like what you said about the first aid employees, one time my little sister got very sick at the park from some allergic reaction to something she ate and i had to drive up there to pick her up at first aid, they were so kind to her and really took care of her and explained to me all that had happened when i arrived to come get her. They are a true class act.

The trains were originally blue when purchased from MBP and theres been no confirmation that the 2nd train will be blue.
-
^I agree, i like the new logo and the way it says Kings Island like Firehawk but I wish they would have the color scheme go from red to yellow like the old trains and like how The Beast's trains were originally painted.
-
I personally like Iron Dragon over Top Gun, top gun is fast and has some intense g's but its just too short, but its not "lame". And yes, the TG:TJC at PC is quite the wonderful coaster, i prefer it to Raptor.

^Having seen both hairspray and twisting to the 60's I assure you its not. mwhinva, you mention these sound problems they have at the paramount theatre at KD where their showing twisting to the 60's. Did those same sound problems exist when School Of Rock was in there and where you able to see both the PKD and PKI versions of School Of Rock, if so, then how did they compare? Does KD have an outdoor theatre where they show a different show and do they have any shows different than us? Sorry, one last KD question here, hows that new waterpark renovation?
-
Why? You've never ridden these new SOB trains, Beast and Racer have seatbelts and they do just fine.
