  1. The ironic thing about this is that Cedar Fair will put in better things at KI than KI received the whole time it was Paramounts "flagship park." We were the flagship park? I dont ever remember the park being called that in press releases or the website or anything. If you go buy which Paramount Park perofrmed the best.....PCW did much higher attendance than PKI did.
  2. Actually Cedar Fair is not up for sale. Read this here: http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2007/07...port_of_sa.html The ride was actually changed due to the whole kids area being re-themed from "Nickelodeon Central and Hannah Barbera Land" to "Nickelodeon Universe", not because The Beastie theme was "Too frightening". The Beastie became themed to a popular kids t.v. show on Nickelodeon known as "The Fairly Odd Parents". I know you may be upset that they got rid of the name "Beastie" but hey, some people were just as upset as when "Scooby Doo" became "Beastie". Well KCKC, didn't make its debut at the worlds fair, but the Arrow hydroflume did. KCKC toward the end of its life was a maintenance nightmare as were many other hydroflume and most have them have been removed from parks. Six Flags Great Adventure suffered similar problems with their KCKC and it eventually left this world the same way KI's and CP's did. Theres a good article about it here.... http://www.amusementpics.com/Hydro%20Flume.htm As for the Indiana Jones thing, Paramount couldn't theme any ride to Indiana Jones as since Speildberg and Lucas owned the rights and sold them to Disney. THis is why you have the Indiana Jones stunt show down at MGM. Adventure Express does play Indiana Jones music in line though, although not "officialy" themed to Indiana Jones. King Cobra wasn't removed because it couldn't "compete" with more modern stand up rollercoasters, in fact its clone and a similar model still operate at Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland. KC was made of a lower grade Japaneese steel that lead to sky rocketing maintenance costs towards the end of its life. During its final years it would often up late due to the fact that maintenance crews were out there performing welding work. It's cousins at Dominion and Wonderland were built of higher grades of steel and continue to operate today. I dont remember the park ever saying they removed Phantom Theatre because it was "too scary" but the attraction in that building traditonally changes about every 10 years. It was time for something new, of course as an adult, im assuming your an adult, you wont enjoy the scooby ride as much as younger kids were. I can see where you would be mad that PT got removed, i LOVED it too, but just as many people were made when the smurfs were given the boot for a Haunted Mansion rip off. Last time I checked even though the name and food changed slightly it is still an outdoor alcohol-peddling venue.
  3. It has never been confirmed that they are getting rid of any movie themes. Last time I was at the park a signifigant amount of movie theming was still around and everytime Kinzel is questioned about the 10 year agreemetn they have with Paramount Motion Pictures and the 4 year for the Nick charecters, he says "we're still in discussions".
  4. haha I remember seeing that on my very first visit to CP and thinking Mean Streak would be fun.....oh Uncle Henry cand finish that story for me.
  5. Uhm, I read the link and dont see anything where SFNE is saying they are unable to patrol their own parking lot.
  6. Up untill I was 14 you couldn't get me to ride any rollercoaster larger than Adventure Express. Today, heights are still a little bit fearfulf or me but I've ridden Drop Zone so many times that I'm used to it. The only ride at KI that still makes me feel terrified every time I ride is Xtreme Skyflyer.
  7. No, because that little girl's family is just not good enough to experience that! Well maybe they're good enough, but they just dont have the money to. My parents are wonderful people but right now they couldn't afford to take me and my 2 sisters to Disney for a week again, guess my family's just not good enough.
  8. I've considered CF's financial situation, it doesnt look good, but I'm looking at our sister park up North, and CF is building a massive B&M there.
  9. ^Except theres no fast passes for lines to go and see the charecters. A daughter all excited to see Tinkerbell... The Father says, "Ok honey, we just have to wait in this line to see her like everyone else" Just because the fast pass systsem has a possibility of behing changed in favor of those who spend more money at the park does not in any way mean that guests who are spending less will be turned away. I have been to Disney once, that was in 2004, my family is in no way wealthy, and that trip for the 5 of us to go there was a massive drain on funds for my parents and for them it was well worth it. We didn't have fast passes, but I did notice that when you got your time for fast pass, if the regular que line was an hour long then the fast pass time was generally about that long too. Disney just has a patent on this idea, it doesn't necesarilly mean theyre going to impliment the idea.
  10. Hauntguy, do you remember when Dane, Ryan, and I came up the R.I.P. line last year on media night and all those people we cut gave you and us a bad look and I just stood there yelling with you? That was a blast.
  11. Gotta show love for good ol Maggie, it was good seeing you this summer LR when I came to visit.
  12. Im bummed that the hauncert series wont be returning, I heard Combat Stupendous might have been playing.
  13. That was my point thought, you could have found that clarification by reading the entire thread and not just the last few posts.
  14. Cstrwomann, the answers to all your questions and MORE can be found by reading the ENTIRE thread. But why am I telling you this, you posted here once, now you probably wont read this thread again.
  15. Hmm, whadya know? Eh, just read the posts above you for the information.
  16. Yeah, because look at the locations that were sit down restaurants. (International Restaurant and Columbia Palace.) Both were extremely popular, always packed and made good to great money. Why would CF want to duplicate that? If CF does dupliate that, and I agree that they should, they need to duplicate the service those places used to give and not replicate the kind of food service you find now.
  17. Due to Vortex's great capacity though you hardly ever see it backed out onto the midway unless its only running limited trains or something.
  18. Are you referring to when I took pictures at Splashing Safari? Also, Im possitive Kings Island did not allow him or his friends to take his camcorder on The Beast as he has done in The past, when he did not have permission.
  19. Actually the water pumped into the final splash downs of the hydroflumes and the wild thronberrys flume flow in from a seperate reservoir behind the actual drop, the splash down parts hardly rely on water coming down the drop, try to watch wild thronerry's in the morning when it first starts up and they run their first boats of the morning. You can hardly tell that the drop has any water on it what so ever and the ride works just fine.
  20. And if you want to know how to break every safety rule in a park TPR is the place to go! I hear the Alveys are not good friends with the Strickers family...
  21. The boats jamming at the top was what did in the double drop at KI and most other parks that had the hydroflumes. I remember myself and my dad were talking to Jeff Seibert when getting off of Son of Beast in 2002 about Tomb Raider: The Ride and my dad telling Seibert about how he had gotten stuck on KCKC and had to be evacuated by ride ops along with other guests after his boat got jammed in the gate and a few stacked up behind it. (My dad is horribly afraid of heights so you can imagine the fun he had dealing with that). If you read the link I posted earlier about SFGAdv's hydroflume, it sheds more light on the jamming problem, at SFGAdv they had such a problem with it jamming that they stopped using the outer side back in 1988: From: http://www.amusementpics.com/Hydro%20Flume.htm That article is a must read for hydroflume fans. Just like KI's hydroflume, Great Adventures began waining in popularity after much more thrilling water attractions opened up at the park, it was also one of low priorities to get open on days with bad staffing and suffered high maintenance costs even back in the 80's when it almost met its first end.
  22. Eventhough the kids are back in school the park stopped weekday operation last week so now your only times you can go are limited to weekends and labor day, all of which weather permitting draw a pretty strong crowd eventhough typically sundays aren't too bad. Haloween Haunt I believe is open during the week in the evenings sometime this october but with that event being free to season passholders, it could get pretty croweded.
