  1. perhaps its already been talked about or I'm just making stuff up (it has happened before)- but is that a new building across from the Outer Hanks/former Skylab pad?
  2. Its sad that so many brilliant minds in the SWP&E corporate structure botched this so poorly. I understand that in the beginning, these 'knocks' come every few years- don't feed credibility to them and eventually it'll go away. The message that this wasn't going to go away should have been painfully obvious very early on and they should have gone on the offensive months ago. For nearly an 18-month period a rather biased opinion persisted (one that wasn't all false... but not all true either, and completely one-sided)- with no rebuttal from the company. So for over 18 months the opposition controlled the message with not so much as a 'poof' from SW.
  3. I was looking at your post from page 1. And the comment before that was from 2013 and someone remarking about a failed attempt to purchase the Big Dipper.
  4. did I miss something? did it sell or was that just a comment to the thread terp?
  5. Drove past today on my way home from Columbus today... If not mistaken, one of the barracks has been leveled already. Maybe that gap had always been there...
  6. And they were counting on "pent-up demand to sell Season Passes for year #1." I believe that they were right for the first couple of weeks, but once the new car smell started to wear off; bungled messages and poor customer service peppered the response for the rest of the season. Outside of new rides, I don't know that they've invested in any guest experience technology.
  7. I believe a certain college-aged son of a middler-up (and professed SM expert) used to... and make sporadic posts. Schrute, who is not affiliated with KK or reliant upon them for any financial benefit, being oddly specific.
  8. absolutely, 100% yes. Those new kiosks install last year were the signal for me. They will need to solve the problem plaguing Disney at present. All of the analytics in the world gained from data coming in from wall-to-wall "smart" interaction begin to fall off around 2-3pm as phone batteries start dying. They have some recharge stations in Soak City... but be on the lookout for a whole new CF revenue stream coming to a park near you. Charge for a fee...
  9. And regarding Don. Never met him personally, but will attest to the integral piece he is. I can't count the times my family and I have been there on a holiday, weekends, etc... and have seen him walking about.
  10. For what its worth, I don't view anything that was said as a slight to anyone's work or "person." My comments weren't to the person, but to the position. And my comments regarding Jeff were meant as a compliment to where he's taken his career.
  11. And good for the occasional laugh; needed that.
  12. After I re-read that, I KNEW I missed the opportunity for a pun. (there you go Homer, the cleverest thing you'll ever say and no one heard it.... D'OH!!!!!!!!)
  13. I agree on both sides of the coin. Creative merit works as well (see 1st GoDaddy Super Bowl ad)- creative genius creates buzz; or in this case, controversy creates cash$$$ In Jeff's case, I don't know Jeff but bet he likely thinks his creative genius while at KI was peanuts; not because it was Kings Island, but because he's 10 years further in his experience.
  14. The creative geniuses at Kings Island are typically the lesser known names that never show up on this site; the PR person is the "face" (and typically a hard working person; how many times have you seen Don trolling the park grounds on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, etc...).
  15. I've seen it (in person and YouTube)- it makes me a nervous wreck just watching it.
  16. Most go to Orlando to participate in one of the BIG 3, which multiplied out is closer to the BIG 10- or so. If you make it to Orlando and are looking for a local attraction with a significant pop, Fun Spot America (two locations in Orlando and Kissimmee). They are a local operation with bigger time asperations. They feature the worlds two tallest Sky Coasters (250' and 300' tall; by comparison, Xtreme Sky Flier at KI is 17 stories tall which I assume means 170'). http://thrillgeek.com/fun-spot-america-in-orlando-announces-three-new-attractions/ http://fun-spot.com/ Curious, has anyone been to?
  17. Parks growing their own landscaping isn't too uncommon; they save a ton of money that way. I have to agree with Marth555... that quote is a bit of a stretch. They used to do much more than they do now. It's nicely tended to, but to say it's an 'attraction'... - they used to have floral themed signs at the entrance. - Royal Fountains had sculpted greenery, now just grass. - trees lining RF though nice for shade are a bit over grown. - Coney Mall used to have those Pinko (or however they're spelled... or named) trees lining the walkways. - the covered pathway in the kids area that is now mostly tables and umbrellas. - Swan Lake The greenery areas are nice and tended to. .. but they're not an attraction.
  18. Went to Great Wolf last night and was able to "view" from outside the KI Hotel/Conference Ctr. Doesn't appear that they've done much. There is a fence at the entrance ways, that's about it.
  19. Fair enough. I don't think I've really taken a moment to think that way of it. But, like I said, I have no horse in this race anyway- I think its proper English to use correct grammar.
  20. Like I said, I do because its "proper." and I'm not trying to be sarcastic- "tone" gets warped on a computer screen. WCPO does a news story on Banshee. Forums flooded with hundreds of posts, most with trademark "violations." What is the response?
  21. No, I did so to the front offices . Not sure how I would do so in "public." Honestly, I try to use proper punctuation because as one in my 40's I feel its use of proper grammar skills- skills that I feel society is slipping on in our: lol, lmao, ur, etc... culture. I could care less if it's a public forum. After all, this is a forum about a theme park, not necessarily a law review; to my knowledge no one is at risk to be fined or sued if a certain roller coaster or former attraction name is not capitalized. News sites have awful capitalization and punctuation skills represented in their forums- and by comparison more people view those than here. My 3-cents.
  22. I once corresponded with Charlie Frank, Executive Director of the Cincinnati Reds Community Foundation and failed to capitalize "reds." Must have been in a good mood, he never mentioned it.
  23. Just viewed our family trip videos over Christmas (maybe 2 years ago) to Magic Kingdom. Sigh. Still wish for a December event similar to winterfest (or is it Winterfest... check me here 'Terp- is it copyrighted and therefore in need of capitalization?). I still say, Cedar Fair is missing an opportunity for year end revenue. We were at Columbus Zoo this year (shoulder to shoulder people). Were at Cincinnati Zoo (shoulder to shoulder). Weather was decent for one (43 at night) and the other 25. For what its worth it was a crisp 38 degrees on the last night of the operating season for my final Banshee ride.
