CF announces 3Q results
RailRider replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not a huge surprise that attendance was down this year. The economy and the poor weather, especially at the start of the seasson and then the rainy weather during October definately did not help. I am somewhat impressed with how much they were able to pay debts down, but that is also suffocating the company. Big reasson they are susspending dividend payments starting next year. Big sell off today because of this news and some have downgraded the stock to sell. Hey good time to buy if you have the loose change laying around. -
Hey no offense taken, I hope you feel the same way about my comments. Have a great day.

So now I ask what exactly is Tractor Town

I have only attended Fear Fest then Haunt, this year is my first planned trip to KI for Howl-O-Fest. My question is even with the pay per game basis it sounds like there is still a lot of stuff for the kids to get in to and you also have the rides in Nick U as well. Is it worth it for the kids or not? Just wanting some feedback before we load up the family truckster and head to KI. Thanks

Woofer I hope you are staying safe -
Tggrr, great find and this is why Peanuts is greater than anything Nick has ever done. Absolutely hillarious. Also for a mature audience the good fellas version with Pepermint Patty is great.

4th of July Weekend at Silver Dollar City PTR
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Trip Reports
I hope to start working on that this week sometime. Maybe tonight, just with work and school and the family, life is kicking my butt right now. Then again I am so blessed to have those things. -
Six Flags Under Water

Just not a good situation in the Atlanta area. I hope everyone can stay safe. I know the Atlanta area has been in a drought, but I am sure this is not how they wanted to end that. -
Manny manny Summers at the point, Magnum is at the top for me, probably followed by a close second of Blue Streak and then The Beast. I think that the Wabash Cannonball would be fairly high on this list as well, sadly it looses ground every year. Also I would guess that Titan is probably in my top 5 or close to it and I have a few infamous coasters known for their roughness in my top 10 like SoB, Texas Giant, and Drachen Fire.

^ If we are going to continue to talk about music in parks, I think the best around is IOA and how the music and sounds blend from section to another and completely changes the atmoshpere. I hope this continues with Harry Potter, Im sure it will. Guess this means I will have to buy the updated CD when it comes out. The music at IOA adds to the journey, unfortunately the music at KI does nothing.

Texas Giant, the magic carpet ending as it is called is god awful. I really hope the renovations it goes through will greatly improve that ride.

2009 Golden Tickets
RailRider replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The GP has no idea who votes on these awards, but the park will definately make the award known to the GP. Nothing more than another piece to use while marketing. Good for Prowler, definately an underdog on that list. -
Disney doesn't plan to use Marvel in Orlando or Japan, but possibly at other parks. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/business_...sney-world.html Interesting indeed. I wonder if they have success with Marvel in their other parks if they will then change their stance or Universal is paying quite the hefty agreement.

And a 3rd Lawsuit appears. http://www.carolinalive.com/news/story.aspx?id=348833 -
All I care about seeing in 2010, is a well done Planet Snoopy, an overall improvement to food services at the park, some new shows, and a decision on SoB and the Crypt one way or the other and done right.

My Opinion on the Future of Cedar Fair
RailRider replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Just got back from Dollywood and I had no problem at all paying for food in the park. Aunt Granny's is an excelent all you can eat buffet, with salad bar, hot bar and dessert. The quality is great and the price is decent. The best funnel cakes of any park can be found here and lets not forget to mention the Cinamon Bread from the Grist Mill. Not to mention the giant skillets of food that can be found throughout the park and some of the best BBQ around. To me this is just one of the reassons that Dollywood is above so many of the rest. Truly wish that Cedar Fair would implement food that was half the quality as Dollywood's and I would be more willing to pay the current prices. Dont get me started on entertainment and experience. More to come from my Trip Report later in the week. I will say one thing. Sha-Kon-O-Hey! -
