This coming Monday (August 3rd) is Reds Day at the park. Two separate Q&A sessions involving 6 players total (3 at each session)... https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/Reds-Day I was already thinking about going to the park on Monday, so this works out great. I'm guessing it will be pretty crowded though.

They're actually doing Coaster Campout events at all CF parks this year. Links and dates at http://www.greatohiocc.org/park-news. If you can make it out to California's Great America, it's only $50 per site there...

It really sounds like none of the people running the park now have any more clue what they're doing than the ones who were running it before. They seem to assume they'll just magically be able to get enough money together to keep things running, but they're not really trying that hard.

That should never happen. Several feet? Why wasn't she right there?

Maybe we could have a set of Cedar Point's antique cars, considering that they have two of them (I'm not entirely sure why though - anyone able to explain that?). I would love to see some again, but I don't know if anyone makes them any more. They were generally made by Arrow (the same one that made Vortex, The Bat and Adventure Express), which went belly up in 2002. S&S did buy out the assets of Arrow, but mostly coaster-related things (parts, the runaway mine train design, etc.).

Also note the lack of seatbelts on Adventure Express.

I doubt CF wants to pay what Ted Turner would want for Looney Tunes licensing. I also wouldn't be surprised if SIX has some sort of "we have exclusive rights to use the characters in our parks" deal.

Skunks seem to be a longstanding problem at KI. When I worked at the park in 2005, a family of skunks took up residence under what's now Peanuts 500 (don't remember what it was called at the time). One night they decided to make an appearance before the park was closed. Fortunately nobody got sprayed, though we did get questioned by our manager as to why we left the cars scattered around the track. Eventually they hired a trapper, who relocated them to the woods somewhere.

I really didn't feel all that unsafe when I visited the park once several years ago, but as I've said this really doesn't make me want to go back, as much as I love Kentucky Rumbler and their extremely dizzying Scat II flat ride.

Both the Tennessean and kentucky.com (Lexington Herald-Leader) are reporting that 12 were injured ("according to authorities"), but the Bowling Green paper's article still says 8 were injured, so I'm not sure who's correct here. Either way, this should not have happened, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a lawsuit and/or fines coming from this.

They've also got Beech Bend, but given what happened there yesterday I don't know that I'd be too eager to visit that park right now.

I've heard that the main reason for lack of painting on Racer is the fact that the original paint was lead-based, and therefore special care and procedures have to be taken in order to remove it. I would love to see it restored to its original red white and blue paint scheme, but at the very least a nice shade of white. That's something that seems to be unique to Racer - I've seen other parks with racing wooden coasters that are simply treated wood with no paint (easier to maintain no doubt, but doesn't look as spectacular as Racer).

I don't see BLSC going anywhere for a while, unless it becomes a maintenance/safety nightmare or the popularity suddenly decreases.

When I was on Magnum on Monday, we stopped on the lift hill briefly before a ride op walked up, had a brief chat with a guest a few rows up, then walked back to the station with said guest's cell phone. The person did get their phone back after the ride, but I'm glad to see CP actually doing something instead of endless "please put your phone away" requests over the PA...

At Cedar Point yesterday, I heard two different guests refer to Rougarou as "Ragarou".

The one time I saw that happen, that's where the ride computer stopped the ride. It went up a little too high on the load side for some reason, then there was a brief "screech" sound as the brakes were applied. At that point the ride panel started beeping as the "Alarm Silence" button flashed, the ride slowed and stopped in the valley on the far side. It's probably a safety feature because it's easier to get people off if needed when it's low like that.

It's a big Christian music festival on August 22nd. The park will be busy that day, but I still found plenty of time to ride things even though I didn't get there til noon or later last year. See http://www.holidayworld.com/shows-events/rock-world/ for more info. Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk

Still debating whether I want to make another weekend trip to Holiday World for Rock The World next month...

The red track from what I've seen is going to a park in China. Don't know about the other track.

We'll find out whether it's real or not in a little over a month and a half
