I was just there last weekend. We went for the day on Saturday. It's definitely a neat place to go, my family tends to enjoy the most rugged of the trails, both 3 and 9. I personally like McKormic's Creek down south a little better, but really they're about the same. I'm glad you guys had fun, I've never had the joy of camping out there, we were going to but it wound up raining really bad and we never got around to it. We live a little farther west out in Danville, IN so it's not so much of a trip as it is from downtown Indy.

Firehawk from Geauga Lake to Kings Island
Braves0511 replied to Vortexallday's topic in Coming Attractions
As cool as it looks now, I will admit that I liked the GL/X-Flight color scheme a little better...But no matter what colors, it's still a great ride. -
Last year was the first time I rode it too, there were some floodlights down on the floor pointing up into the track (four i think) but since that was my first time IDK if they are new, or original?

Longest You've Been Stuck On A Ride & What Ride
Braves0511 replied to WooferBearATL's topic in KI Polls
I was stuck on the second lift of The Beast for like 15 minutes or so once, that was interesting, I was supposed to meet my parents at a certain time, so i decided to squeeze in one more Beast ride, and ended up getting stuck... A friend of mine has been on TTD and said he barely floated over the top... but he's kind of a noob so I think he was just paranoid. -
Didn't they play Zombie Nation in there too? or is that something else?

Carowinds DZ Cable Found to be Thin

That's lame /\ . I never have liked drip rides...those and waterparks...i don't like either of them, I don't trust them, and I don't look good in waterparks or trust those kind of rides. Water rides are completely up to physics, i just never felt safe knowing there was nothing but a bit of water and some plastic between me and the ground. On dry rides there are tangible physical systems holding me in. But even so I've never ever felt right on a drop ride. Not to say they aren't safe either, because I know a vast majority are (99.99999%). I also like how the media spins these things...I was watching it on Fox News yesterday, and they made theme parks out to be dangerous death traps, and every interview they had basically consisted of A) and eyewitness account and then B: how no one should ever ride amusement rides and to boycott theme parks until safety becomes more of a concern...it was dumb. I can understand some feelings like that especially being a witness to something of that nature. this post had absolutely no plot or pertanance to the main subject, I just went out on a tangent. sorry. -
SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
Braves0511 replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You know, I never get annoyed at the handicapped ability to go up the exit ramp...i think they deserve a little special treatment since life is much harder for them then us, seriously...but I do always get annoyed at the Gold Pass people when im in a long line and they walk by smiling...never raging mad, but just a nagging annoyance in the back of my mind lol And seriously, that really bites for the girl and her family. I hope she will be ok. -
it'd be interesting to see those two pictures one on top of the other, to compare the little unobvious things that have changed, that's crazy.

When I went on Saturday, I bought two slices of Pizza and a large drink for ten bucks...it was expensive to say the least...but I didn't really have a choice at that particular moment because I was hungry and had no transportation to leave the park and come back.

I don't remember when we were around SOB...I know it was in the afternoon when we rode Top Gun. And I probably gave you a dirty look myself lol...The Beast line was HOT! and this chick behind me was really grumpy so if the line moved and you didn't immediately move too, even if you were behind her...she would tell you off.

Here it is! my insanely long Trip Report... I finally made it to the park this summer, it was slightly crowded but that's to be expected on a Saturday... It was a church trip, but I brought a friend from school, and we hung out on our own and didn't see much of my church people all day. We started our day with Delirium, which was good because we waited for one or two cycles before getting on, and by the time we got off the line was out into the path into AZ. After Delirium we headed up the tower to see what we could see and then headed back to Coney Mall. Took a trip on the backwards Racer, not my favorite ride (too rough for me) but it was ok. We decided we'd stand in line for Vortex even though it looked long, but I figured that it wouldn't take long and it didn't. Rode in the very back after maybe a fifteen minute wait, seemed a little smoother. After that we walked the midway hopping on anything that looked to have a short line. After that we headed back torwards the Festhaus for lunch because it was getting hot and crowded so we wanted to sit for awhile in the A/C. All I can say is Sprite has never tasted so good . After lunch we went to Top Gun, and rode in the very back. It was a fun ride, it didn't feel quite like I remember it, but I don't think I've ever ridden the very back like that either. Also, I didn't see anything in the SOB station, nor any activity anywhere near it at the time. But the girl on the Eiffel Tower did say she was hearing it could open later this month. But who knows.... Then we went back and stood in line for The Beast. This was during the absolute hottest part of the day, and we were crammed into line with a ton of people and it started to get really old. But we made it up there and rode yet again the very back...Just as we had our bars checked Vortex dropped and as it hit the bottom of the hill, made a very loud "ka-chunk!" noise and then screeched really loud. The op on The Beast looked up and said "what the h*** was that!?" thats when we knew something happened lol. After an extremely rough trip on The Beast, much rougher than I remembered but probably because we were in the back, we got off and headed over to Vortex to see if we could find out what happened. There was a train on the brake outside the station and a maintnance worker was carrying a wheel over to it but that was about all that was going on there. By this time everything was a long wait, so we decided to stick it out for Firehawk. We got in line and stood for at least an hour maybe an hour and a half, either way it was long and hot. But entertaining at one point a bunch of security people came through and got somebody, there were too many people in front of us to see what was going on but it seemed interesting. This was also about the point where my friend realized he'd lost his cell phone. Then a group of guys broke out of line and went running up to the station cutting everybody, then about ten minutes later they were escorted away by security to the applause of everyone in line. They were only letting small groups go into the station at a time and keeping every one else in the line. Just about as we got there I looked at my friend and said it would really suck if we got up there and it broke down, and he said he was thinking the exact same thing, which was weird. We finally got up into the station and were two trains away from getting on when it broke down...Ironic huh. They got it up and going again in about fifteen minutes, just in time for it to go down again. But by this time Maintnance was at Drop Zone for whatever was going on there and it took them a while to get back to us. My friend and i decided to wait it out since we had already been there that long, it ended up being another hour before it was fixed, during that time there were two girls from kentucky in front of us and they started talking to us, alot, . But it was worth every bit of it when we finally rode, and we were really glad to have stuck it out. I got off and bought a Firehawk t-shirt, since I refused to buy the shirt until I rode it. And after waitting two hours for it i was going to buy a t-shirt After Firehawk we went back to The Beast to see if my friend's phone was there, and then we went to lost and found...we never found it...we got some dinner and then just hung out for awhile not doing much else, because we were tired and there were too many people....So we met up with the rest of the group again for the fireworks and headed home. I'd say this was one of my favorite trips to KI, mainly because it was the first time I'd been there with a friend and not my parents or anyone like that...and because Firehawk is now pretty much my new favorite ride...and it was just a good day overall...we got to see all the head haunchos out in there suits and ties, sweeeping up trash. We were tempted to go talk to them but decided it would be awkward. I'd say the only thing I would change, was the overall lack of personality from the employees...especially in food...none of them acted like they were even alive, when we got our lunch and dinner in the festhaus none of them spoke to us unless we spoke first and even then it was with no enthusiasm or emotion...although I can understand it was probably a long hot day, and everyone was tired. Props to the Firehawk crew though, they kept their cool when it went down and did a good job at pacifying the people in the station who were very frustrated. I also noticed a lot of things seemed to be closing early, I'm not sure if it was maintnance issues or if it's just SOP now, but there were a lot of things shut down early.

Cedar Point 2007 Video
Braves0511 replied to UncleHenry's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The part where you drive by KI is hilarious...and btw...what was the second song? The one right as you get to CP and get on Maverick? I liked it. -
does anyone know what that litttle clearing is if you go to the turnaround of the forwards racer...then go back just a little across that road behind it and a little left if you're looking north...there's a clearing there with the vague shape of the mushrooms on the original mario bros. game lol

I just missed timing my visit then... I'm going saturday. I should've waited a week or two. I wanna see what they've done. Besides the obvious of course. Plus I want a crack at Firehawk.

oooooh wikipedia!!!! the source of all sources!!! anyway...I've seen the "Hurricane" coaster down at what used to be the Pavilion at Myrtle Beach. If I remember right, which it's been a year and I wasn't really paying attention at the time. But I don't remember the trains being all that long, so no I don't think they hold as many people. According to Roller Coaster Database the Hurricane's G-Trains held 24 people, and SOB's Premier's held 36. But it's all still speculation obviously.

I say if you're going to get a new ride, which I love Vortex so I'd rather keep it...but if it had to be a new ride...make it a truly new ride. With floorless trains it would be a bit different experience, but I'd rather see a brand new something, I'm not sure what though. Also if Vortex really was sinking the first time I heard that one, or better yet the first time I had to convince someone it wasn't...then It'd be gone by now...

I never even noticed they weren't using part of the seats...wow im out of it...what was up with that?
-
I don't want to see TG go anywhere, I think theres enough room elsewhere at the moment to fill without getting rid of things yet...Especially "If it ain't broke..." However, if it did go, i think it'd be cool to have a nice terrain woodie back there...such as Beast, but it doesn't even have to be huge or record breaking...just enjoyable and exciting.

There was plenty to do, but being Spring Break time, there were just way too many people and extremely long lines. If the lines weren't so long, and I were to have a bit more time, I could have stayed there for days. The theming was absolutely incredible, I was constantly catching myself comparing to KI but really there is no way to compare the two, it's like apples and oranges. It's definitely a place I could eenjoy if we'd gone sometime when it wasn't so busy.

This week was Spring Break at my school, and I went with our marching band to Disney World down in florida. To be honest, the park itself didn't really impress me. The theming was rediculously awesome but other than that, i wasn't completely thrilled. Probably because of the multitudes of people. But yeah. We stayed in the all star music resort, which was pretty cool, just an old hotel with a music theme, but it was home for a few days. Now on to the parks. The first day we were there we went to Typhoon Lagoon...I'm not much of a water person so i got in the wave pool which was awesome, and watched my friends on the rest of the rides they seemed to like them. The next day we went to MGM first. We got on Tower of Terror. Greatest drop ride ever. period. The theming was awesome, the ride was incredible. The best part was my friend had his bookbag with him, and didn't know what to do with it, so my quick thinking came up with him putting the seat belt through the straps. It worked until we dropped and it flew up and hit him in the face, then on the way back up, put a lot of uncomfortable pressure on his lap (all you guys out there know what im talking about). I loved the holigraphic ghosts, that was a neat effect. We didnt get to do Rockin Roller coaster because we got our fast passes for tower of terror, and by the time we could get another one the passes on RRC were past the time we were leaving. So we wandered around MGM and took in the sights, and annoyed one of the street performers that was extremely entertaining. Right at the main entrance there was a guy "Otto Von Bon Bon" just doing ads for the park, telling people to go to shows and stuff, he was funny. But all of us just plopped down right in the middle of the street in front of him. He was talking about "lights motors action" and he did a little part where he was like "Fast cars!" and we would cheer, "pretty girls!" and we all cheered louder...then he said "and men in tight coveralls!" and one kid in our group yelled without thinking, and we all looked at him and the guy called him gay, it was humorous. Then we went to EPCOT. This was park that there wasn't alot there but what was there was interesting and entertaining, again good theming. I liked the GM Test track, as lame as it is, it was a lot of fun. Mission Space was a lot of fun too but not worth the two hours i spent in line by myself. The best part there was the laser/pyrotechnics show at the end, that was really neat. The next day was Animal Kingdom, probably my favorite of all the parks we went to. Everest is awesome. I managed three rides on it, one in the very front seat, one right in the middle and one in the very back seat. It's definitely a back seat ride. And out of the thousands of people that go through that ride a day, i managed to ride with the same random guy two out of the three times two hours apart. What are the odds of that? I loved the backwards portion, and the head chopper at the end with the broken track and the yeti together made me duck all three times . The river rapids ride was a lot of fun too, didn't get me uncomfortably wet, but cooled me down, i liked it. That night we did what we went down there to do, play music. We got to go in the EPCOT backlot, it was really really cool. We drove under the speed loops on Test track. They were really picky about us being back there...we had to be within twenty feet of the main group at all times, no cell phones, cameras or anything was allowed off the bus. And I'm almost afraid to tell everyone about being back there there wasn't a lot to see as it was dark at the time. The next day we got up and went to Magic Kingdom, where we did a mini parade down Mainstreet USA, which also meant going backstage there too, another neat yet strict experience. Then the rest of the day was spent there, with the bazillion people we didn't get to ride any real major rides, but we had fun none the less. The kid that ran our boat on jungle cruise was hilarious, and the animitronic Jack sparrow's on Pirates were extremely realistic. As were most of the other animitronics elsewhere, it was creepy. There was a ride at MGM about some of their movies, with different animitronic scenes from some of them. ONe of them being Casablanca with Humphry Bogart (i can't spell his name right) but after he talks he looks over at you and tips his hat, you'd swear it was real. After the Magic Kingdom it was a twenty hour trip north back to the cold real world of Indianapolis.

I'd read it... -
What roller coaster in your opinion had its best year ever? For me it was a tie between The Beast and FOF...i rode FOF for the first time, it was really cool...but The Beast is still one of my favorites. What thrill ride in your opinion had its best year ever? Delirium...I finally got to get on it...it was broken down last year and i couldn't ride it. What was the best thing that happened this year at Kings Island? The CF takeover What restaurant had the best food? I liked the Rivertown LaRosas...the Dip'n'Dots guy gets second (he talks too much) What crew/area was best? The Beast people seemed to enjoy themselves...idk What show in 2006 was the best in your opinion? I never saw any of them What change from 2005 to 2006 was the best? The change from hanna barbera to Nick...even though i only went through there to look, it was good to see it updated...although i still like the HB cartoons better.

This has little to do with anything, but someone made the comment before that what would coney mall be without the barking...another thing to add to that, is the absence of SOB...It was really weird to be there this summer and not be able to hear it all over the park...It will be really good to come back next year and have everything as it should be...well almost
