XGatorHead 8904 – thanks for taking the time to share your KI family experience with us. Sorry to hear about your daughter backing out from rides she rode last year, I know first hand how that is. Looking forward to your next report.

Amusement parks, VIP-style
Avatar replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Hey those Segway tours are so popular at Epcot that Disney decided to offer rugged Segway tours at their Fort Wilderness resort. -
Somebody needed to tell that lady that Paramount no longer owns the park, because those two kiss face kids had heard that Dick Kinzel is trying to put the thrill into Kings Island. I don’t know about you guys but being young and making out with a girl is kind of thrill.

I think it would be a rumor if the rumor was that it is not returning this year.
-
Dane – I’m so happy to see a new skin for the forum and even better you did a great job with it. I noticed on the header on the second line it say’s “The Guide to Kings Island” I know on a lot of Disney forums they haft to list themselves as “the unofficial guide to ****”. Maybe it is no big deal but thought I would at least mention that before you get to far along. Excellent work, you all work great as a team.
-
Kawana – nice trip report sounded like you had a great first visit this year.

Thanks for the update and the pictures to go along with those updates. I noticed that the LaRosa’s Pizza building is purple. Is this new or when did that happen? I always remembered it to be red. Also Ryan in your article you mentioned that there where some new footers in the area, that was great to hear I think.

I should know that as I know one child close to me with the first name of Alexa Rae, most folk’s think that’s her first and middle but it’s not. I may stand corrected – thanks interpreter.

Noraleesmom - Welcome to KICentral!! From your screen name it looks like you are a mother of 2, we are always glad to have a diverse group of members here to give the conversation perspective from all sides. Edit – Interpreter answered the question already. BTW have a great time tomorrow.

Haunted Trail Co – no offense taken, I do think if you reread what I was saying hopefully you’ll see that I was making a suggestion that was solicited by Beasterfan26. If he choose to leave it up that was fine, but I for one have more respect for him that he thought more about how this could be perceived by and reflective of this board. I have PM Beasterfan26 after he took it down in hopes to tell him that and that I hope he continues his work. Beasterfan26 – sorry to hear you lost your work, I did make a copy of it and if you would like PM me with your E-mail address and I will send you a copy.

Sounds like you had a great time with your friends, just by chance did you go into the bathroom between Rivertown and Nickelodeon Universe? I walked in and two guys where drenched and had their shirts off trying to dry them out while make negative comments about their friend who talked them into going around twice.

ichase – We were very laid back that day some days we do hustle in the mornings, I belong to a paid Disney site that teaches and shares how to tour the parks in a fashion that goes opposite to the way the general public will tour. I apply a lot of those techniques to Kings Island during certain times of the year and certain dates, so if the park is busy we tend to tour differently. This also helps future visits to become boring. kawana – I am very excited about a coming up meet-up probably really soon, I know I will be tacking several pictures and will want to share this experience here. Ronny – The only two possibilities I can try to offer for the higher bill at Frisch’s is; check your bill for extra food you never ordered and the most likely option is that I have witnessed times of get together that food has often found its way to be worn on ones clothing and not eaten, this could run a bill up in a quick hurry. To everyone thanks for the comments and yes Miss Rae is growing quick and into fashion. Also thanks for the compliments on the one photo I just used a point and shot camera and when I was there and could see the sun glowing on the fountain I said to myself I bet Ronny and Dane could take some spectacular pictures with there camera’s. So Ronny a compliment coming from you about one of my pictures is an honor. Just a small tip to KICentral members; in the morning the sun is behind the tower and therefore puts shadows on guest’s faces and their pictures. In the evening the sun shines from behind the old International Restaurant and that is the best time to take pictures of the fountain and a picture by the Kings Island sign, plus it’s less crowded then.

Here is a picture of a poster that is put around and at most food service shops. I really like the past years KI souvenir cups as they were better insolated and nicer, the ones now are just a basic thin plastic restaurant style cup. Here is a picture of the Icee stand in River Town, in it shows the signs for the price and also the Icee souvenir cups. They look like dumbbells larger at the top and bottom and smaller in the middle My wife made the comment to me that she thought the Icee Cups looked to small with the middle slimed down and she was concerned on how she would need two carry two types of cups now.

Thanks everyone No mine was a palm trio and it would cost a lot to replace. Coming down the exit was a security guard as I was going up and Gabriel pointed him out to me. He had about six cell phones, sunglasses and other items. I described mine to him and told him what the owner info would say on the phone, he gave it right to me. To the right of the entrance to White Water Canyon is a food stand called Sweet Treats included below is the picture of the menu last Sunday. HTH

Introduction; My family consisting of my daughter, wife and myself decided to go to Kings Island on April 20, 2008 for Kings Islands opening day. we have been getting season passes for the last several years and felt like this would be a great day to get our passes processed and to take a look around the park without worrying about crowd sizes or to ride a lot of rides. Basically we just wanted to spend some quality outside time together and to smell the roses but it was the tulips that we smelt that day. We arrived around 10 o’clock and my wife and daughter got in the season processing line which stretched back half way to the center road in the parking lot. I had already processed my pass last fall so I decided to get my Cedar Fair pullover and to go on in the park to take some pictures around International Street, so my wife and daughter would not haft to follow me around as I like to take a closer look at the area. I noticed the park looked very clean and the tulips where in full bloom By this time my wife called and said they had entered the processing center so I went over to the new Cinnabon shop I ordered a Carmel Pecanbon for $4.79 I tried to order a soda in a souvenir cup but was told they don’t offer them there and I would need to go next door to LaRosa’s to get one. I was happy to see the new uniforms on the employees and they all seemed helpful and friendly, which helps when you’re paying $6.99 for a souvenir cup that is just a basic plastic cup. We shared the sweet treat and because rides where not our focus today we where not in any rush and decided to do some shopping for new merchandise, the wife says she likes the new items especially the girls shop. Next we took a picture in front of the Royal Fountain so we can keep it for future reference of the family progress over the years. In the picture below is a rare picture of me for three reasons 1 I usually will not wear logo shirts 2 I had jeans on and 3 I very rarely wear tennis shoes out in public and I wish I did not on this day as my feet got very sore as the day went on. From their we decided to walk through Nickelodeon Universe and Miss Rae did find a couple rides that had a small line so she rode those From there we checked out the construction Then we went to ride The Beast and had a great checker named Gabriel who took my daughter to the kids section for us, after I left I realized I lost my phone on the ride so I doubled back and Gabriel saw me coming up the exit and told me he found the phone and where it was to get it. KI has really got some very friendly employees this year who go above and beyond. We rode the last seat on the Train and had a great conversation with Evan; I have recognized him from seasons past. I did see more construction while riding on the train Miss Rae noticed the Elephant Ear stand and wanted one while the wife said she missed the fries from Potato Works We where suppose to share the snacks but Miss Rae grabbed the Elephant Ear with both hands and started eating it and would did not stop until it was almost gone We then went over to watch the new show in the Festhaus and truly liked it as we do like all sort of entertainment. From there Miss Rae wanted to ride a couple more rides so we took her back and waited in the longest line of the day for Plankton Plunge I decided to let my wife watch Miss Rae while I tried to get in a Red Racer ride in and Back Lot Stunt Coaster It was getting to be around 7 o’clock and my feet was getting sore so I called the wife and told her to meet me back at International Street when ever they where ready and I was just going to shoot some more pictures with the sun shining brightly on the Royal Fountain. Well after that we meet up and left the park to get a affordable meal at Frisch’s north of the park. Notice that even though Miss Rae did not share her Elephant Ear with us, I still like a good father let her take over my salad Frisch’s will become a regular meal stop when we visit because of its value In Conclusion; Our trip was a success as we had a wonderful family day at Kings Island and even though the park was a little busy we hardly noticed as we where there to just smell the tulips. I really like the uniforms of the employees and the much cleaner park it really showed that the park worked hard to bring the park back to some classiness that I have felt had vanished a few years back. I think Cedar Fair was correct this year in getting back to the basics that makes visits memorable. Nostalgia has never looked so good.

If it is the same person who was waiting for the front seat of the Red Racer about seven o’clock: Then I can only offer my observation as I was waiting right next to him and his wife (assumption). When I walked up I noticed the operator was taking her time and not dispatching the trains with the Blue Racer and in fact she would talk with the checkers just to slow things down. I spoke up to the guy and his wife about how they where dragging things down. Well as the guy started to speak I figured out what was wrong he started speaking loudly ( not yelling) about how great Cedar Fair is now because they sell beer all over the park and could care less if they had a no smoking policy because he doesn’t smoke. He then but his weight on his right leg and almost fell to the ground, I could see that he was really drunk and at some point hurt his leg maybe from a fall. The operator would not let a train come back into the station until security came up as they where the next to be loaded. When security got there they asked him politely to get out of line and talk to them. The train then came in and out I went, nice smooth ride on the front (in case you where wondering). When I got back to the station they where walking him and his wife down the exit slowly because of his knee as I was walking right behind them I could see a KI security vehicle parked on a dirt part by an employee exit. They told him to go with them to the vehicle but told his wife that she would need to go a different way as the vehicle looked full. He was not yelling and cursing or anything they were not struggling with him and he did not have hand cuffs on him. I knew he was extremely intoxicated and thought maybe they needed to get him away from the general public and because of his knee they would give him a ride to where ever they felt they needed too. I don’t think he was arrested from my point of view. HTH P.S. I witnessed an employee being taken down The Beast exit on a stretcher, I hope he is ok now and doing well.

Deb – funny you say that after wearing your athletic shoes to KI by the end of the day you could barley walk because that is what happened to me too this past Sunday. I just did not post it in this thread because I did not think anybody would believe me that athletic shoes hurt my feet. I too hardly wear athletic shoes unless I am on the tread mill, just too uncomfortable or just an Indiana thing.

I agree to I was just making the suggestion notice how beastfan26 did not deny the similarity. I could see down the road a member could take offense and then his creative work could be looked upon negatively. Truthfully what worries me the most about the first one; Is that KICentral has signed up a lot more new members and many members who have not posted in awhile have now done so very recent, I’m afraid that when new/old members see something that can be perceived as poking fun at some members then they will be less likely to post further. With that then we would all lose. Honestly I am not trying to make it a big deal but he said this would be a weekly event and asked for suggestions. I hope I do see more of his work down the road.

What member is he directly making fun of? I didn't see him mention anyone, from what his cartoon character is saying, that seems to be the opinion of quite a few members of the forums. Some preferred Paramount, some prefer Cedar Fair. In this trip report by Cormaster http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=210771 Cormaster says the following in his report I am not faulting his art work and what he is trying to do but I just wish it does not come at some other members expense and he did ask for suggestions I just gave him one.

I’ll make one suggestion; Please don’t use YOUR doodles (notice I left out KICentral) to make fun, mock or to be insensitive to other members. Just not cool.

I did see a picnic event going on at the picnic grove on Sunday, but my guess would be a wrist band to show ride operators that they are under a certain height and the color is orange in the height guide. You Must Be Under: 80” Tall to ride Drop Tower – Firehawk 78” Tall to ride Invertigo 76” Tall to ride Delirium - Run Away Retar
