  1. There could come a day....once you leave the park..there will be no re-entry And that would just further alienate their Season Pass holders which I think would translate into fewer visits from them. Cedar Fair has made mentions about the learning curve on the importance of the season pass program at some parks over other parks, which they where not used too. I really think they could offer better perks that guests want and could still benefit the park.
  2. Right on Interpreter and WooferBearATL – I have found Kings Island to be a lot higher in Food pricing compared to our visits to other parks. I visit other Disney forums (Tour Guide Mike & DIS) and every time someone complains about food prices forum members usually clue them in on prices at Cedar Fair or one of their parks food prices, in fact I linked one of those conversations last year http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1489276 I could give many examples but that would just be blabbing on the obvious. I really like what Cedar Fair is doing with Kings Island except for the food overpricing, I am not trying to negative about the park but in this area I must be honest with my thoughts or I lose credibility and I can’t squeeze a positive in the current price structuring. Here is the food menu and pricing to Holiday World http://www.holidayworld.com/food.html If anyone would like likes to food pricing and pictures of the food from Disney follow links below. 3. In the picture above it tells what the combo comes with, which in this case crinkle-cut-fries, only.
  4. I really like what the park is doing this year entertainment, cleanliness and new uniforms but two areas I feel could be better is food prices and Gold Pass perks. I am going to take a tape measure with on my next visit to take a picture with it next to the slices of pizza to show how small the slices are. I consider 2 slices to equal 1 slice sold elsewhere,
  5. In my opining the food prices are high for what you get and compared to other parks. I did take a picture of the Juke Box Diner’s menu a couple weeks ago.
  6. I agree with you Interp about driving guests away with high Cedar Fair pricing as I have in the past, I think it takes a couple years for Cedar Fair to see a pattern of slowing guest’s visits and think they will start to see it very soon. I think a lot of the Gold Season Pass Perks are more self serving to the parks than a benefit to the holders. I am not trying to bash the park but in my opinion they really need to start thinking about what the guests want and what will attract the guests to want to come more often, especially with the economical time and that will serve the parks the best in my opinion. In other words; give the guests what they want, they will happily pay for it. ETA; grammar and summery
  7. Well he can think what he wants too but I have not and will not cancel our Disney Vacation which includes Free Dinning (Disney Promotion) plus free transportation (excluding air fare). I asked my brother if they want to go with us to Kings Island he said “no were saving for the Disney trip” they have also turned down going out to dinner a couple times with the same reasoning. So in our own circle Disney seems to be the choice with dinner and day trips being cut back.
  8. If we came over to Kings Island today it would costs us $62.66 for gas (round trip), this definitely plays a factor in our decisions when we will come over for the day.
  9. Wouldn’t it be cool if it went over the River Town walkway and into a simulated cave, then when it came out it would go over White Water Canyon with geysers squirting up close to the ride, then it would go under the Train bridge and out of the ravine. I love a thrill coaster but theming is more important to me and wonder why we cannot have both. Only time will tell.
  10. So what do they do with all the tax money they receive from sales tax from the parks? It seems like they need to charge an admission tax for all entertainment business in Mason such as Movie Theaters, GWL, and Golf Courses for this to be fair. They have been trying to do this for years now even though past Mason officials promised they would not do this and the real reason why, is so they can offset the double tax Mason citizens pay. Mason receives a lot of revenue from the parks already up and above for the cleverly degaussed reason they are tying to give, many many other communities would gladly build rode improvements and provide emergency services for a park similar to Kings Island with out such admission tax. If Mason can not at least tell the truth of why they want the admission tax then the public and businesses should oppose it vehemently.
  11. Thanks for the photo update – looks to me like Swan Lake will return unless they rename it. Also that ravine looks to narrow wide wise to drop a coaster in with room to come back up and out, unless they go into it long wise.
  12. I asked the question a couple years ago and it deserves re-asking; when is a perk not a perk? Those two days are typically slow for obvious reasons so I can see this being offered for those days. I just wish whoever is responsible for deciding these perks would announce them sooner. I want to say more but won’t.
  13. That would be cool to have a friend so close to a new project that was willing to share his experiences with you. I am happy to see your friend to be accepted in the PI, so many apply but only few positions available. As for the ride goes – I like theming as much as the rides them selves and it looks like Disney went all out on Toy Story Mania.
  14. I am looking forward to riding this new ride experience with my daughter. In the link below is a 6 minute video of an Cast member who went to the cast member preview; it show the outside the attraction the line queues Mr. Potato Head in action and of course the a ride through. Keep in mind the screens are shown in 3-D so it seems blurry. http://www.doingflorida.com/#/toystorymani...view/4528809564
  15. Nice pictures Robby, glad to see some ravine pictures. Sounds like you have made more trips to Kings Island so far this year than you did most of last year.
  16. Oh – ok I see now Duh, that is great news for us then, as we will still be able to get Icee when we got to the Water Park with our Firehawk souvenir cup for $2.99. I agree with Interpreter now in that the Mix & Match stand probably won’t last long with those cups.
  17. What I get out of this is that last year guests where able to refill the soda souvenir cups with Icee for $2.99 and regular sodas for $1.99. This year to get an Icee you must put it in a Icee souvenir cup with refills of $2.99 which only holds half of what we got for $2.99 last year. I agree Icce costs more and I thought paying the $2.99 for Icee refill reflected that cost difference over paying $1.99 for soda refills. Paying twice as much as we had to last year for the same amount plus the hassle of needing to carry two souvenir cups now make the Icee choice a bad choice for us. We will go without Icee until it becomes more cost reasonable. I hope it does because we look forward to the new variety of flavors.
  18. The store associate was very nice as well as we where as well with her even after she over charged our purchase by $15.00 and had to void the sale and credit my credit card, I assume from first day jitters. I could tell she wanted to help but was somewhat skittish about it, so I did not push it. Honestly I just wish it was a service that was offered to us a as an appreciation for buying merchandise early. Thanks Ki4life08 – as you can see in my Avatar we come as a family and at my age I don’t want to go up to the register and hope that they will offer the service to be nice or feel like I’m to cheap to pay $5.00 for the service. But thanks for letting me know.
  19. I was going to weigh in on this a couple days ago but held off because I feel that at times if we say something negative about the park even if it’s constructive or stating ones own opinion, then some members take it to heart and seem to be upset from hearing something negative about the park. I was also going to weigh in on this topic in my trip report but felt that this subject would come up at some point and I would then speak on the subject as well as give my families personal experiences with the merchandise courtesy hold. On opening day I went to the stroller locker rental to see if I could get a full seasonal locker so that we could put purchases in leave jackets, souvenir cups, towels and so forth at the park we left the park. I was told Kings Island was not offering that service this year and they moved those lockers to the Firehawk area to be used as short term lockers. Shortly afterwards and with-in the hour my wife went into the shops and bought a few items and was handed a bag, my wife asked can you hold this for me or send it to guest relations and the answer was sorry Kings Island does not offer that service and did not offer the locker/stroller drop-off option. So we left the store and my wife gave me a look like what did she just do, then said I don’t want to carry this all day I wish I didn’t buy this now! At this point (being budget minded) I smiled to myself and said Yes! Knowing that in the future she will think before she buys, if she wants to carry the bag around. I should have offered to take the bag back to the car or rented a locker for her but I thought no I will not offer that and maybe next time she won’t spend so much at the shops. I was not mad or upset with Kings Island policy for not holding merchandise for guests but thought it was odd and thought to myself if Cedar Fair wants to bring up guests per caps spending then this should be offered and promoted, especially during the early hours of the parks opening. Disney offers to send your packages to the front of the park for pick-up on your way out for no charge. If you are staying at one of their resorts they offer to send your packages to your Resort gift shop for no charge and most shops offer to send your packages to your home for you at a minimum charge. We used every one of those services on or last trip and I know that my wife thought Kings Island would at least offer to hold her package for her. If I had a season long locker this would have solved our buying merchandise problem, but as it stands now with Kings Islands merchandise policy I will not tell the wife that Kings Island will hold it for $5.00 (to expensive) or offer to run back to the car for her, I’ll just let her assume she’ll haft to carry the bags. Mean I know but at least I won’t haft to walk back to the car and I will save money this way. I hope Kings Island will at least look at this matter more as a perk to buying merchandise customers.
  20. Believe it our not this happens often, it is sad. From my understanding is that a lot of these people commit suicide because they are some place they love and that’s where they want to check-out of life. In fact at the Contemporary Resort at the World they have a portable tent like enclosure readily available to but over any unpleasant situations.
  21. With so many conflicting stories floating around it’s a wonder anyone can figure out what the real story is. In Peoples magazine they are also doing some reporting of this matter. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20197494,00.html from the artical Also the Walt Disney World News is still telling the same news as last night, which she is indeed performing tomorrow night. Also for those who are interested to see some of the behind the scenes of the Vanity Fair photo shoot watch the video below. Now I am a little disappointed too but mostly think this story is way over blown, I think she got it before we all learned about it.
  22. Woofer – I somewhat agree with you. I saw the pictures a few days ago and I thought with all the fuss, they would be far worse, but after seeing them I thought “all this for that!. I mean I can see the gray area here in the photos but just everyday photos show more than that. The grey area for me was the towel one I just said to myself when I saw them was “Why/ what’s the purpose for taking one like that”
  23. So what we do know is that 2 outside Disney media groups say that Disney confirms she is out for the weekend event because of a role model conflict, puts on Disney’s own site she is in fact doing the weekend event and shows her taking pictures and signing autographs with young children with-in the confines of Magic Kingdom. Talking about conflicting reports.
  24. Hey according to Disney’s own press site “Walt Disney World News” http://www.wdwnews.com/ViewImage.aspx?ImageID=109732 totally contradicts what that TMZ article says.
