  1. Good to know thanks for the clarity.
  2. If I am right Cedar Point does not close the park to the general public while they have large company outings at their park, while Kings Island does have dates in which the park is closed to the general public for large company outings on select dates. Also I believe some companies are grouped together to get a sell-out for that day.
  3. Sorry but again we there is way to my threads at the moment that is too similar to other ones so I am going to close this one to keep it less confusing. Thanks fr your understanding. Topic Closed.
  4. He does not know he is just answering with "yes someone knows". Get used to those type answers when questions are asked like that. A often repeated saying around here goes something like this " those who know do not tell and those who tell do not know" when it comes to parks unrevealed information. They have been focused one the regular season and the Soak City announcement so now that is passed today i would look for Haunt website and information to come out very very shortly as within days, when it is you will not miss it as the conversation and excitement will be about that information.
  5. Tthat is the Snowy River Rampage your are seeing. It is clear that there are no plans for a new slide for 2012. I did notice once I blew up a picture of the area that it looks like the entry to the new Action River could be located on the new pathway. If they give the new Soak City the same treatment as they have done with the area around Diamondback, Planet Snoopy and Coney Mall then we have much to look forward to in the transformation.
  6. Welcome to KICentral Mommy2three. I have seen them offer that type of trade in of that days ticket to be applied to a season pass but do not know for sure if they are doing that now. You can visit Guests Relations tomorrow before you enter to make certain. Kings Island has a great Children's area and I just know you are going to love it enough to want to return. Make sure you take your camera!!!! Might I add you read through another KIC thread "first time visitor question about going to Kings Island with a five year old". It was posted earlier in the season, lots of great advice there http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24323
  7. Honestly this topic can fit in the existing Haunt Hiring thread. It just gets too confusing with so many similar topics. Topic closed.
  8. My bad the racing slides that are at KI now are still there in the concept art drawling. I think where I confused is it looks like the gate has been moved over to the right a bit from where it currently is. I need to download that map and blow it up before i goof like that again
  9. Actually Cedar Point Soak City is suppose to be getting a new multi-lane mat race slide in 2012. Similar to the one that is not on the concepts drawling to Kings Island Soak City any more. Hey wait a minute..... I know Cedar Point Soak City seems to have low crowd sizes but I do not believe that will be the case ate Kings Island
  10. Several thoughts about posts so far in this thread. I could not be more pleased to see this community’s reaction to King Island closed to the public announcement for what is to come in 2012 (I wonder why they did that on a Friday before a holiday weekend and closed it to their park fans. Hmm…) I think most members are pleased to see the water park get some attention and as disappointed as some may be about not getting a new slide or an attraction on the dry side they understand that the water park was in great need. The very few negative comments I have seen thus far have been about the name switch (which I will ramble on about later in this post) and the fact they did not go further with a new slide/coaster addition as well, but usually follow with they understand. I guess what I am saying kudos to the KICentral members for having a great discussion about this versus all the hate and non-understanding posters on Facebook. I think KICentral deserves more credit than they have been given in the recent past as to be known as a hateful Kings Island site. So thanks KICentral members for telling it like it is, sometimes we like it sometimes we understand it sometimes we do not like it but make no mistake you tell it like it is. Albeit some go too far in their feelings or post about it several times in a variety of ways saying the same thing (haven’t we all at some point in time ) but not this time. Next I understand the comparison chart as a marketing tool as it seems many places make their own and depending on who is behind it they will come out to their favor. I mean The Beach could produce one talking about movie nights, live bands, hot tubs, swimming lessons, sand for kids to play in…etc. The thing is we all need to do our own comparison chart to see what is important to our own family’s desires. As my family the price is important but even if a place was free and we did not enjoy the experience we will go a lot less if at all until things changed. Just my opinion here and runs counter to everything I have ever heard. I find the name change and a new ticket window as hints to me that that a possible separate gate may be in the future cards for Kings Island Water Park. Since my earlier post about that subject and looking further to other Cedar Fair parks that use the name Soak City (which all are separate gates) I am leaning toward that at some point Kings Island Water Park will split from them and become a separate gate. So now have said that would that help keep future water attractions going into Soak City more regularly and more often?. I mean if they are a separate gate would they not have their own budget for their own use. I remember back during the KIC Winter Blues event for Diamondback I asked the water park manager if they would be expanding and that I thought they were long overdue at that time. His response was along the lines of they agree and would like to expand but as part of Kings Island other areas of the park has greater needs and they support those other areas needs before theirs. I do not know how they budget now for departments or even if they become a standalone park if they would get a separate but dedicated budget for their own use. Like I said I have nothing to back anything up here but find it interesting to think about. What do you all think? As for my family and I we are super excited to see Soak City coming to Kings Island in an expanded form and hopeful for what the possibilities are for Soak City Kings Island. I can safely say we are looking forward to visiting Soak City next year and experiencing what it has to offer in hopes it offers us a more relaxing experience than the ones we have started to shy away form as in the past due to overcrowding, music, shade and seating issues not to mention the free flow of fully dressed dry park goers milling around the water park for their own purpose. Funny story I told the family a couple years ago when the wave pool got really crowded and it seems the waves had a hard time getting through the large crowd in the wave pool. I told them that if anyone else gets into that wave pool then the Life Guards are going to need organize a stadium style human wave with everyone raising their hands in the air to legitimately be able to call it a Wave Pool!!! So with all sincerity I applauded the discussion in putting valuable capital resources into the new Kings Island Soak City Water Park, this decision will get my family back into the water park.
  11. I am glad you guys brought that up and I know to many it would be very upsetting to even discuss as I would have never thought I would prefer that myself. It was additionally comforting at CP SC knowing that most day guest at CP would not be filtering through the SC area just to have a quick look around or dip. I also listen day after day month and years to many who say they never or hardly go over to the water park side but say they would oppose a separate gate fee. I think more GP users which KI has a fair amount of may bump up to platinum. I know Kings Island has desired an up-charge for Haunt and many complain of the overcrowding of the park and avoid it due to that issue on some nights. I do not think they could pull this off by just cutting it off with out an over whelming backlash from their long time valued guests. So as I alluded to in my other post in the other thread maybe the GP could be a low price as many agree that the GP is a great value and to offer with that some free limited admissions or free haunt for GP on Fridays and free water park for weekdays otherwise they use one of their limited free coupons or a dedicated discount. I do think we are a ways from this if ever but honestly after experiencing both I do prefer the separate gate and if given the choice I would pick the up charge park. We just had an much better experience and left very relaxed.
  12. Then I vote for Geauga Lakes version, fingers crossed. Are we sure that the traditional children's Trick or Treat is not going to be there as in the past. Maybe the Dinosaur one is different, I did notice several times that I keep hearing the word "Family" in descriptions which to me is a tell tell sign of things to come such as when they kept promoting the word "Thrill" when Diamondback was announced and few years to follow.
  13. I truly wish and hope for theme like the the pictures you posted GYK. Did Cedar Fair build that or was that attraction built from a previous owner. I think it would be wise for us to expect theme and a water attraction similar to Renegade River at Soak City Cedar Point. At Cedar Points Renegade River it has many of the water features as you mentioned above and has a decent current mixed in with simulated water swells to push floater around the river as well as water jets. Renegade River has some theme in places but expect Cedar Fair type theme to be at our new Action River. Note. the picture above does not show the areas of water cliffs and such so keep in mind those areas are mixed in while much more other areas are more open. The picture does not show the water swell motion very well either. Trust me though we went around several times during our visits and eemarked many times that we wished Kings Island would get one of these. So I am glad for this addition and look forward to the finished addition.
  14. I agree with you CodyDL on this issue. I would have preferred the older existing lazy river to stay as is. One of the down side of the older existing lazy river was some guest like to splash and race around the river which is OK for them but those who just want to just float had to deal with those who wanted a more adventures splash experience. It would have been nice to have both as the more active guest would choose the Adventure River while the others who just want a more relaxing experience would be able to do that more now. Have said that two things; first It seemed that the old lazy river at Cedar Point got very little use on my three visits there this year and the second, the lazy river at Boomerang Bay looked to me the last time I was there to look old and wearing down a bit. Maybe it needed an overhaul so they decided to just upgrade it using the budget they have to work with. That is just my guessing opinion. Additionally to me it looks like the new back path to the river raft ride could be a great place to add additional slides in the future.
  15. Really CodyDL you know this how? Every time I have been to Soak City at Cedar Point I have not seen them up charge for anything other than and Cabana's.and all the tubes for all the rides and wave pool were free to use. The Beach across the street from Kings Island well they have a few free tubes but charge you if you want one of your own that is if someone else does not take it when you are not watching.
  16. The name Soak City does not bother me that much as names tend to change from time to time and other chain parks name their water attractions the same too ie Sea Worlds Aquatica. Now what does concern me about the name Soak City is that it could cause confusion to guest in the gate or no gate charges . Say a family here in Indy goes to Kings Island a lot and also enjoy Kings Island Soak City for free, then later that summer go to Cedar Point Soak City assuming their Soak City is free as well. If the name is the same then the gate should be the same to avoid confusion.
  17. Cpt Crunch maybe they will give it some time, maybe they needed to expand the area first so that they have a place and area to put a new slide in. If they spent the budget on a new slide now and then decided to add a wave pool and other amenities later how would they work around tha water slide right in the middle of an area they needed for a wave pool. First things first.
  18. Cpt Crunch do you think the world revolves around YOU? I can tell you for sure that Kings Island doesn't think it revolves around any single guest. When they add new attractions they look at area that are in most need or in demand to include at certain target market. They may add to an area with hopes to expand on it more in future years when they have a bigger budget for that area. If you have ever been to the BB wave pool on a Saturday you will find the new Wave Pool is long overdue and to prove the point it got so crowded that my family started to stay away from BB. This new expansion may not be for the thrill seekers but it is an area that is oin my opinion most needed for the park as a whole.
  19. My family is huge fans in waterparks and used to visit BB almost every other weekend several years back but we hardly ever go there now if at all during a single year. # reason not much on there own but add them up and we ventured sadly elsewhere for our waterpark fun. First was it got stale with nothing new, second it was way overcrowded for our enjoyment and third believe it or not the music, to use it was not relaxing beach type music that we enjoyed other places. This year I got three visits in at Cedar Point Soak City and none at Kings Island Boomerang Bay. I truly enjoyed CP SC and the two new addition attraction sound the same and my family loved them both. The wave pool is fun to do as a family and the wave whee much larger but in no way anything close to Typhoon Lagoons wave pool but we spent a lot of time there. The action river was fun and had a lot of interactive water features which was very fun, if I had to say anything about the one at CP i wish they did more with the landscaping around the river. The music at CP SC was enjoyable and beach type music. I look forward to more visits to CP SC. Now have said all that there still is the issue of overcrowding for us at KI and after experiencing CP SC we enjoyed it so much and I think that was due to the fact it was not overwhelming with crowd size. It made our visit more enjoyable. I have said forever that i would want KI waterpark to always be free to dry side guests but know after doing CP SC i would rather KI water park be a separate gate. It kept the afternoon crowds away for those who where there for a day at the waterpark. I do not think KI would lose money as the dry side guest would still spend money over there. Two thought more on this I think it would be OK if KI charged a up price for daily visitors to help manage the crowds sizes. and two for gold pass holder could get 1-4 coupons when they purchase their passes to give them a choice to use them on say for Haunt, Dinosaurs Alive, Sling Shot or Soak City. I have thought this through and it seems to me it would help out the overcrowding and make visits to KI more enjoyable at times. I know what i say will not be very popular at first glance and I must say it took me a while to get here in thinking there maybe the crowd control and up charge for some of the extras should be looked at differently or at least considered through discussion.
  20. For those who have been to Cedar Point Soak City I beleive the two new attractions will be similar as to their wave pool and action river. My family was there less than two weeks ago and we spent most our time at those two attractions even though there was no lines at the slides. I do wish they would add an adult section (Pool Bar and hot tub area) that was pretty nice too.
  21. Even though the park told us that they never said there would be an August Announcement this topic was left open to allow us to speculate on even the most minute of information coming from Kings Island. It seems these days that Americans have grown fond on speculating about announcements of their various interest to the pass time, such as sport teams, computer gadgets, politics and yes amusement parks. I love the fact that many business use that interest to help promote their products and to build anticipation of interest. Sometimes well get over excited about rumors or coincidence of facts to point us in false hopes, but still we enjoy the mystery of what is coming which we have little control in deciding. So here we are with only minutes to the end of this month of August with no big August Announcement but it has been fun, is it disappointing that we see other parks making their announcements while we sit and wonder if there will be one for us. I say yes but not in a bad way but in a impatient way. The good thing about not getting a form of an announcement from our park at this point is the fact that we still have a whole myriad of options ponder and speculate on. At this point this topic has run its course and future speculation will be directed elsewhere . Topic Closed
  22. That is because the day you joined there was a small and short site crash on July 25, 2007. All those who joined on that date only get their forum post counted. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  23. I believe the post counts under the avatar is for post on the open forum with the post count in ones profile to include all posts to include PM's.
  24. Just under two and a half hours left to post in this topic so hurry before it closes.
