Avatar replied to ChazyG's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes I was. It is encouraging that even though his is gay, he knows where to draw the line. I wish more people like him (and I don't mean gay) had an open mind like that where their beliefs do not cloud judgement. Sorry Browntggrr for my assumption. I totally agree with your statement that some on both sides of the issue as well as other issues let their beliefs cloud their judgment. -

Nah...not really, just trying to add to a difficult discussion. Unless you are reading into something I was not saying and then make a assumption, otherwise I think my post contributed to the thread discussion well. -
RaptorGuy I think we all know how you feel about the Fast Lane but to make it personal is going a bit to far...Really! If anyone works hard and decides to spend part of their hard earned paycheck money on a Fast Lane pass that is their prerogative to do so, they have done nothing wrong. If you decide after you worked hard to spend part of your work paycheck on a Fast Lane pass or not , well that is your prerogative too. If Kings Island wants to charge for a Fast Lane pass system that is their prerogative If you do not like it do not go into the park, plain and simple.

I am going to put up a link to another discussion thread called DIS which is the largest Disney forum fan sire out there. The owner of the site Pete Warner is gay and discusses his views on Gay Days in Orlando with his podcast staff. I highly recommend most adult members that are willing to listen to the whole podcast but about 15 minutes in to it is where it gets to the heart of the matter. I respect Pete Warner on his choice and his views on the matter which I believe is were the vast majority of the United States adult population is on their views too. I feel with Pete I could have a honest open discussion without fear of being labeled. http://www.wdwinfo.c...ey-gay-days.htm -
Whoops thanks Interpreter for the help.

0, KI does not sell flash passes. If I wad to guess on a number of KI Speed Lane passes it would most likely change as the system is still new and adjustments are usually made after management has had time to review it.

I must say that I have attended many coaster events from array or amusement/theme parks and have enjoyed every one of them that I have attended thus far. Each coaster event has its great moments and enjoyment factors but I was bit nervous about spending so much time on one coaster at this event. Well I am pleased to announce that out of all the events I have attended the 2011 Kings Island Coasting for Kids ranks right there at the top for the FUN factor in my book...Really. We had a great lunch at the International Street Restaurant Every participant walked away with a shirt, lapel pin, a thank-you picture and some won one of the many raffle prizes, all those items where just a drop in the bucket compared to the fum memories we all shared while singing, cheering and exciting the Blue Racer riders as we ascended up the lift hill. The whole Racer Crew went above and beyond to make us feel special for donating our time to raise money for such worthy cause. They helped participants keep track of their ride counts as they progressed and asked trivia questions through-out the day. As the day got hot, long and the participants got tired the song list got more creative (put your whole body in ... put your whole body out... and shake it all about) and The Racer Crew brought us water and attended to many of our requests. I as one of my ride buddies (standbyme) of that day said "riding racer all day or any coaster for that matter is a very unique but rare opportunity", I must agree with him, not in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that ridding in just one coaster over and over on the same day could be so much fun. Honestly I am not so sure that it would have been that fun if it was not for the great mix of people coming together in their role to raise money for such a great cause of Give Kids the World.. A big Thank You to everyone who took the time in what ever capacity you did to make this event so successful and memorable.

The thrill of a roller coaster rides had a whole lot more meaning Sunday, July 24, when Kings Island hosted "Coasting for Kids 2011" to raise money for Give Kids the World (GKTW), a Central Florida non-profit resort that provides cost-free, weeklong vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. KICentral formed a team of nine members to raise money and to participate in such a worthwhile cause. The KICentral Team raised $640.31 and was the top fund raising team out of thirteen registered teams at the Kings Island host location. The fun-filled event was the second year at Kings Island and a company-wide effort at all eleven Cedar Fair Entertainment Company amusement parks. Kings Island fans and roller coaster enthusiasts alike enjoyed a day filled with riding The Racer over and over again with many riding over 100 laps from 8:00am until 7:00pm. All participants raised at least $75 for Give Kids the World to take part. KICentral would like to thank all the members who participated in this year's Coasting for Kids event as well as the many KICentral members who donated money to Give Kids the World. KICentral would also like to thank Kings Island for being such a great host for this year's event to include an incredible fun hard working coaster crew from The Racer. http://www.firstgiving.com/gktw/KI

2012 Fall Announcement and August Announcement It was easier in that the first post on one of topics was after the last post of the other, which makes it easier to integrate the two.

Thanks GYK for taking the time to try to help a fellow member to understand a bit more about a attraction at Kings Island. I appreciate that you have done this in a very respectful way, I know a great many members appreciate that approach. KingsIslandJonasGirl - I have sent you a PM that is towards the top of the page. Both of you have a good day

Mostly true in what GYK told you, and thanks GYK for trying. We hardly ever delete a tread/topic but instead move it to another forum that is not viewable to the members. That is done in case of a misunderstanding or for reference purpose. In fact some thread/topics have been brought back from that forum to reminisce about an old topic or to bring one back for further discussion. If you are the original poster of a thread/topic you can request that a topic or even a post be removed and we will give your request weight but after the thread/topic is reviewed. Now your question was how to remove a post; the poster can ask in that post that there post be removed and we will do so if appropriate or you can send an moderator a request for us to do so. Pleas let us know if this is something you want us to do with this thread. -
afkifan First of all I hope your visit to Kings Island was fun and memorable. Next I want to thank you for taking us up on reporting back to us to give us an unbiased opinion on how you felt the Speed Lane effected you and your group during your rare visits to Kings Island. Reports from those like you help us here (that visit often) to understand how things like this affect the guest in general who come once, twice or less per year. Basically it helps us to get a much larger understading and differing views from a much broader audience which really helps us form our opinions on a subject of interest. Thank you again and if there is anything we can do for you please let us know. Uh...no, guest did complain about the Gold Pass Speed Lane and mainly non-season pass holders. Although those folks could have bought a Gold Pass just like the ones who did, they felt they were being left out of the Speed lane option. If after a certain date of those years that it was offered they could not buy the Gold Pass to partake if they wanted. The way it is now ALL daily guest may purchase the perk option as long as Kings Island has not sold that days allotment of Speed Lane passes.

No problem, just trying to help you with that process. We all have been new at some point, if there is anything we can do to help please ask.

Avatar replied to KingsIslandJonasGirl's topic in Coming Attractions
I understand that you want to start your own thread but honestly it gets confusing when to many threads are open discussing relatively the same thing. It is often overlooked when say a season has passed between a start of a new thread that is similar to an old one, but even then it sometimes is best to merge those. I hope you understand. -
Welcome to KICentral KingsIsalndJonasGirl, I politely ask that you not double post but just edit your post when not a lot of time has passed between them. Sometimes we may miss the first post not realizing the poster had made a series of post in a short amount of time. I did go ahead and merge your last two post to avoid confusion.

Me too, so to avoid confusion the topics have been merged.

The whole point is the use of electronic devices are not allowed on rides at Kings Island, if a guest of Kings Island feels an employee is/was rude for any reason they should go to Kings Island guest services to file a compliant so they can investigate the compliant. We here on KICentral have no way to know the full facts of the incident as far as what was seen, said or heard by all parties involved. So the only thing we can respond to is the admitted fact that a cell phone was improperly being used after a ride was dispatched. The second part (which I believe is what you refer to as the "whole point") of what you felt happened and the tone in which it was handled by a ride operator, so we can only speculate on our part. Not to say what you are saying is true or not true but there is no way we can know for certain the full facts from all involved. I highly suggest that you contact Kings Island guest relations about your concerns if you have not already. Topic now closed.

It seems to me we are splitting hairs here, but all agree that the guest is responsible for their own stuff. If you could not see a pattern in all the links http://corporate.dis...y_security.html Don't miss this one it is good even about security cameras in the park http://tapmag.com/20...urity-presence/ http://www.blooloop....rk-Security/156 this next one is mostly about security cameras in the parks. http://www.securityc...ce-systems.html this next one is about a park that is going to add cameras after they had a problem. http://www.whotv.com...0,4543969.story http://www.securitas...t-and-security/ Here is a PR firm who helps parks overcome a reputation that they did not deserve. http://www.reputica....ement-parks.htm Undercover security http://www.cracked.c...-world-secrets/ Then I can not help you so please continue to believe what you wish and we will let the others decide for themselves. You asked for sources and I feel I have provided enough facts that will back up my opinion. I no longer need a source for your opinion, I'll just take you at your word on how you feel about the amusement parks and their no need to worry about their reputation from others who break the laws in their parks against their other guests. Thanks for adding to the discussion.

Tanna first let me say as I have not told you so yet; I am sorry this has happened to you. My family and I are huge water park fans, we enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy the water attractions while cooling off on hot days. So needless to say we have visited Boomerang Bay numerous times over the years and I can say honestly that your story is not one that I have not heard before but it is not one I see as a rampant problem. I also have witnessed security and life guards be proactive in watching over the crowds in and out of the water. Tomorrow my family will be traveling over to Kings Island to enjoy Boomerang Bay while I participate in the Coasting for Kids fund raiser. I tell you this because I do not fear or worry about my families safety or personal belongings as they enjoy all of what Boomerang Bay has to offer because I know the unfortunate theft you experienced is a rarity at Kings Island. I do not believe Boomerang Bay is anywhere near a point that they will get a bad rap as a place for other guest to steal their belongings and I absolutely know Kings Island takes these situations very seriously to include taking proactive measures to keep it to a minimal as possible. Hopefully over time you will venture back and I hope you do.
-
Again you try to put words in my mouth you really need to re read your post and secondly I have not once or at any time said as you say "your belief that the park has the responsibility of watching your belongings" or referenced that in any way as that is a given. For the record ALL guest have the ultimate responsibility for their own safety and personal belongings. Now how about your backing up your position that parks do not go to great lengths to protect their guest while they are there to include watching for thieves in parking lots and water parks to include Kings Island. I am not saying they need to or that it is their responsibility but they do it almost all of them for a myriad of reasons. Please find me some resources to back up your claim. Here is a PR firm who helps parks overcome a reputation that they did not deserve. http://www.reputica....ement-parks.htm Undercover security http://www.cracked.c...-world-secrets/ IAAPA http://www.iaapa.org/industry/funworld/2005/august05/features/to_be_seen/tobeseen.html
