Italian Job and Tomb Raider
O.K. first off Interp, it's CLOWNS not cranes, CLOWNS. Second, there has been a crane there in the past (don't ask me for pictures because I don't do that, get your own proof). Third, if you really want to see a crane, there are plenty of river cranes down on the Little Miami river. They like to eat fish, and stand in the way of fishermen trying to catch the big one.

Italian Job and Tomb Raider
So they brought in a crane for a motherboard? Interesting.

Beast's Lake
Al Collins himself showed me 2 napkins a menu and 1 full legal pad with nothing but formulas, drawings, and jokes from him, Mr. Allen, and many others who contributed to the actual design of The Beast. So yes it was a napkin thank you. Most people do not understand the scope of this project, there were engineers working for places like GE that quit there jobs to work on this project. I personally know a carpenter that quit his job of framing houses to work on the project, he now has his own company that he started after The Beast was done. That company is now one of the top builders in Florida. And if you had the chance to ask any of the designers, they would put the credit some where else.

Historical Photos added to the Coney Photo Gallery
In the late 70's there was a really good haunted house in that building. The one I remember was sponsored by WEBN, and had a wall in a hall way that moved with a light on it. They would blow a train whistle and turn on the light, very impressive set up. My eyes are moist from the picture of the Shooting star, I have missed her so.

^I did not see you bow when you said....(bow)...John Allan's....(done with the bow)....name! Remember you must bow to the coaster god.

Beast's Lake
The first calculations for The Beast were done on a napkin in a coffee shop. The helix had to be changed because the trains would not have been able to take the angle of descent into it.

Could Son of Beast Accident Been Avoided?
Well the simple answer that one would give right after the accident happened would be no. After all how could some thing like this happen if you have a world class wood coaster maintenance crew (and I do mean that) and a world class design teem. In hind sight, the answer is yes, how could the cause be over looked. Well I go for the first answer, no. After all, we all know that hind sight is 20/20 that is why no one wears glasses on there a**. (Well unless your nick name is a** face and you wear glasses). I think the mechanical creed is very appropriate here: If it is mechanical and has moving parts of any kind, it WILL fail. The goal is to prevent it from doing so. You may not know how or where or when, but that is all calculated in a learning curve.

Whats your favorite park besides KI?
Considering your name, that really surprises me. Alton Towers is the Pittsburgh of Europe, just as much steel, traffic is horrible, and just try to ask directions in a little town called Foxt in an American accent. The only positive that Alton Towers has are the trees, and a couple of what I would consider world class steel coasters. No wood coasters, and the rest of the steel coasters are just o.k. Tivoli on the other hand, has very well kept rides with a good variety. A world class theater and concert hall that makes the Arronoff look like some thing that you would find in Mayberry. The food is incredible and with the train station next door, you can't miss it. The people are so nice that they not only give you directions, they will give you a ride or take the train two extra stops to make sure you get there. I have been to so many parks in both Europe and the US, that I would have to say for action thrills and fun, the US is the best. For a park to take your family to for an enjoyable day or evening entertainment, you can't beet a European park.

Fall-O-Ween at Coney Island
I think this should be in the "jokes in bad taste at HH" thread but I will put it here any ways: A woody on stilts to keep it from getting damaged from floods. At the top of the hill there is a building in the shape of a mobile home, and the trains are in the shape of canoes. We could call it "The New Richmond Rescuers". (Seriously though, I would love to see a woody at Coney. I just do not see them doing it because of up keep and repair costs from flooding.)

Fall-O-Ween at Coney Island
Yes this would be a wonderful idea. It would certainly bring a tear to my eye when the memories come FLUDDING back. I would welcome it with open arms, but just remember why the owners closed it and moved it north.

Fire In Dominator Station
Just to verify: I did not do it, that is burn it down. I was not near Dominator at 0 hour. I could not do it for you see, I am a roller coaster freak that is plane to me. I could not do it no matter if the ride was good or bad, because burning a roller coaster would be so sad. So the next time you are on a roller coaster and you think it stinks, don't burn it down because it might be my favorite ride in that town.

Beast
Not add or remove but to adjust the distance from the counter part on the train. I have worked on trim breaks in a park in Germany that had magnetic trims that were adjustable from the drivers control. Adjusting the distance would allow them to change the trim. THIS IS NOT THE CASE ON The Beast, so please do not read any thing into this statement. I am just handing out info.
