Sea World IPO Successful
faeriewench replied to jzarley's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You are welcome! Marine mammals have always fascinated since I was kid happily visiting CP's dolphins and SWO as well. On the topic of ages of current captive orcas, Tillikum and Ulises (the mature bull at SeaWorld San Diego) are believed to be about in their thirties now, so they should be interesting to observe in the coming years as they are in that age bracket where quite a few of the bull males often go missing in the wild. Tillikum has been refusing to perform as of late, but that seems more of a spoiled brat personality on his part than old age as he decided to do a show as recently as two days ago. -

What's yolo? I am being serious. -
As far as I know still a 20% discount at Knott's, haven't heard anything different yet. Though the taxes bit of a pain there.

Corky is a she Besides being in the care of man for 44 years, she is also pretty much blind in one eye and no teeth (the aquarium she was at before going to SW removed her teeth). Even with the technology now nothing has been made where any surgical work can safely be done for these guys. :/ Corky is about 47 years old, Lolita was captured only a year later but believed to be even older than Corky, (because she was larger) so that's a possible 50 year old gal right there at Miami Seaquarium. I wanna buy some SW stock just so I can argue with Peta. lol... We truly don't know what a life expectancy of an orca is in the wild. There are some certain individuals that's believed to be over 60 years old, but most seem to disappear between the ages 25 to 35 and are just never seen again. Very rarely bodies wash ashore when it comes to the massive ocean which makes it hard to tell, so several months to a year goes by before they declare that an individual is presumed dead. Transient orcas are especially hard to keep track of because they are generally loners and don't travel with large groups (unlike the Resident orca populations), travel farther distances, which allows them to disappear for years at a time before a next confirmed sighting happens. Before captivity us humans were still killing the killer whales because they were going after fish we were catching, as a result they were heavily regarded as nuisances by fishermen. We know a lot about these guys thanks to captivity but still so much to learn obviously. -
Is the discount really 10%? Cause I remember getting 20% discounts at Knott's last year unless that was changed.

Has it really been 15 years since Pirates demise? I remember a time where that serpent thing popped out of the treasure chest on that ride scared me

Picture 398 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr Yes, the baby in the pic is me. Most senior citizens I know are not interested in riding coasters (one sweet lady who is a regular at KI comes to mind as a rare exception), that's why my grandparents fell in love with CP when they did. We all go in as a family beginning of the day to ride either train or Paddlewheel Excursions or both before everyone went their separate ways for the afternoon. I know grandpa loved to get his usual beer and a sandwich while watching shows at Red Garter.

I hope your parents have fun, Tanna Wish KI had more to offer to keep them busy at least for a day. My grandparents pretty much started to loose interest in KI during the 80s after they first saw CP, by the 90s they quit going to KI for the most part except for my mom's company picnic each year they'd go with us.

Roller Coasters and Brain Damage

I find myself singing the Banana Splits theme song once every blue moon, my head must be screwed up thanks to the rides on the rolley coasters. XP -
^When I renewed my 2011 Platinum Pass last year for 2012 they gave me an all new physical pass even though I had my 2011 Platinum pass on hand. But I honestly don't remember why now. This year though they said I didn't need to go through getting another card so its apparently ready for the season.

I never eat at the park enough to really bother with it, so guess I'm one of the ones who won't miss it... o_o

Sea World Blooper
faeriewench replied to TTD-120-420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
OSHA are out of their element when it comes to animals since they don't do squat with elephant and tiger attacks (which happen more often). And they treat Miami Seaquarium as if it is nonexistent where those trainers are still allowed to swim with the killer whale there in public and private. They need to go away. And also, that is an old video, about 2 years before the 2010 incident with Tillikum. Trainer was fine -

I thought it was a different price online than it was if paid for at the park? -
Good on KI I suppose. Seems too expensive for my taste though, so probably won't go. Not a Reds person to begin with, lol. I'd rather pay a higher price for a buffet.

well Las Vegas is actually happening too. Flights and hotel booked. My mom's first time flying, so she wants to see Donny and Marie Osmond and go see Grand Canyon. I seen Grand Canyon several times so I'm just gonna get my rides on Desperado, and the other coasters as well see some dolphins. Yeah, interesting year.. Wasn't sure with this one till it was finalized, such a long painful exchange over the last few months, mother thinks she's "seeing the country" with layovers, and way I see it Las vegas itself is a layover (since I'm used to Cali), flying nonstop to it isn't a big deal. I tell her there is nothing to really see in the other airports...just over priced merchandise and food, my main focus is making sure there aren't any delays, haha. Agh. Yay me (with help from a family friend who is always flying somewhere on business) convinced her to do nonstop flights. XD

How long has it been since you've been to Kings Island?
faeriewench replied to KIfan73's topic in Kings Island
Actually at KI, it was the last night of Haunt. Though my place of work is really, really close by so see the park constantly. I'm ready for change of scenery, lol. Hurry up May! -
The newest addition since my post ...and from what I can remember the only addition besides a Beast hoodie I bought one night during Haunt IMG_5113 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr I known the author for awhile so it was a must I had to get a copy of it, lol. It's actually really good!

Well a friend asked bout it and I searched Youtube, couldn't find it, its mostly demolition videos I'm seeing and searched the boards... kind of frustrating with the huge amounts of threads about the ride Now it's gotten to where I won't stop till its found! xP (and I'm not really a huge Sonny fan) Does anyone know if that video still floats around? I could almost swear it was on YT at one point.

Boomerang gets a make over

I still think it looked better blue -
Racer, Beast, and SOB of course. Maybe Diamondback a little bit. Am I alone in this? But I has a gut feeling for the.....Bat. Ok, probably just me then. For me personally....Adventure Express, my first KI coaster XD Another personal one I guess is Diamondback. My dad would say Demon that had a personal impact on him, it was while waiting in line for Demon a guy said "there's a coaster up north that goes upside down three times!" The coaster in which was spoke of was Corkscrew at CP, that soon began dad's love for CP. According to my dad and uncle people looked at this guy like he was nuts.

It appears CGA removed the Snoopy Harlem shake video.
