Let's do this: how about everyone on here keep their eyes peeled for one employee that is exceptionally nice, or has gone above and beyond and make sure to recognize them at GR. I mean, even if you're not an employee or never were, you should be able to tell who's doing their jobs and who's... just working... You know what I mean. I think it would be a good way to give back to the park. Plus, if people are recognized, they are far more likely to continue to go above and beyond and influence others to do so as well.

I can't wait myself. The Addams Family is a brilliant movie. They could theme a whole park, or at least a good section of a park off it the movie itself. Hopefully they'll have cutting-edge, well-maintained themeing and an interesting ride experience!
-
I'll have to go for Arrow myself. Although Intamin and B&M do make great rides, you can not forget where it all started. As far as smoothness goes, I think that Arrow's aren't exactly smooth at all as compared to the other two, then again, I think that if The Vortex were too smooth, it wouldn't be nearly as good of an experience.

If you're going to put dingo meat in it as planned, it's never making it on the site.
-
That's a very difficult question. You're going to get a lot of claims, but probably no proof. You're best bet would be to ask The Vortex's sup and see if they know. Anyone work on that crew?

*nudges Ryan's shoulder* I'm a dude! ....not the first time I mad that mistake in this part of town.

I would like to visit CP sometime. To be honest, I've kind of taken a back seat in this convo since I haven't had the opportunity to go there, but from what I understand, CP is rather crowded most of the time. So from what I understand, PKI is better to have as a home park.

Well, they were at an IAAPA convention in Chicago around 1970 or so when they caught word that the great John Allen was there. They found out that he was at a local bar, so they went and found him. When asked to design their twin racing coasters for the new park, he declined claiming his retirement, so they bought him drink after drink after drink until he agreed to it... good story, eh?

I'm sure you all are aware that we have some technical difficulties last week. The page that you got while trying to access PKICentral.com linked you to our brand new server, Nexigen! Nexigen is much faster and has has offered us much more space and bandwidth than our former server. They have opened doors for PKICentral that we would never have been able to imagine 6 months ago. So after months of careful planning and preparation, we are proud to announce that or transfer has been complete! Thinking about starting your own page? Click here to check out Nexigen's home page. Thanks, Ryan

Nope, it's in the right forum. Good question, though. They never would have guessed that they'd have to get the legend drunk in order to get him to agree to it.

It's a go... settle on a date.

lol... Quite possibly. I've met about 80% of the active members on this board, but it seems like we always have a near miss. Better luck next time!

That's great that you had a good time at the park! It's a shame that your daughter is just a little too short to ride The Beast... I believe it's Browngrrl that has in her signature that her parents stuffed kleenex into her socks to make her tall enough... ever considered that? I think your pics are really neat too. I especially like the one of Delirium from BAFF day. Keep shootin'! Ryan

How about a weekday in June after you kiddies are out of school? I'm screamin' for shorter lines... it'd be better if we can ride more stuff. Now, I'm bringin' the camera, so everyone dress nice.

Ok, I'll hand you the price... say that charged $11 like Mandarin does (at least that's why my bill totals out to be), afterwards, I feel like I need seconds. Good food, but I'm willing to start saying "rip off" when necessary... sorry PKI, but I wouldn't be a good friend to the park if I didn't give constructive criticism. Now, eating the burritos like tic -tacs... Sorry, but that's impossible even for the largest beast.. Even when I'm starving, I have trouble chomping down those last 3 or 4 bites.. To put the whole size of these burritos in perspective, I have always noticed that when the burritos are done, they wrap them in tin foil... they kind of pick up a rounded shape to them when they do that. Now imagine a considerably large baked potato wrapped in foil, kind of like when you cook them in an open fire... that's what it looks like. When it all comes down to it, as "authentic" as Mandarin is, it's still non-filling food that is way overpriced. Dammit, I want filling food that's way overpriced! Next time we have a meeting day in which we decide to meet in the afternoon or whatever, we should have some kind of "pre-party" at Chipolet on Fields Ertle beforehand, then you'll all come over to the dark side! lol... I don't know how this turned into a Nightmare Before Christmas thread, but if you want to continue it, please start a new thread in Discussion where it would be appropriate. No more of that in this thread. As far as the PKI vs. CP deal goes, I think it's totally fair to compare the two. I mean, it seems like those who think it's not fair are insecure about how PKI would match up to CP, but look at it this way: Does PKI have the coasters to match up to CP? Oh God no... they don't and probably never will, but that's not all that makes up an amusement park. Granted, being thrill seakers like most of us are, it's easy to think that they're the better park since coasters are what we go for nowadays, but there are a million other things to look at. PKI has an excellent and original selection of flat rides. Now, most people would prefer a coaster to a flat any day, but you can't tell me that Delirium isn't at least in your "top 3" list of favorite rides at PKI. Also look at it from a familys' perspective. I mean, PKI does have the best childrens' are in the world, which is something they have worked really hard on and have done extraordinarly well. What about Guest Relations? I've never really had to deal with CP's guest relations, but I can't say enough about PKI's. If you've ever lost your cell phone or anything like that there, you know how great it is. My personal story is that last year, I lost my phone there towards the end of the season. They eventually found it, and what did they do? They didn't call me or send me a letter telling me that I could come pick it up, they simply mailed to it me.... now, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but they could have sent me a letter in a heart beat asking for a $4 check to cover shipping before the sent the phone, but they didn't. That's what makes PKI great.... but enough about my stories. Anyway, look at the feeling behind the park too... I mean, what's more recognizable, some tall coaster or a giant replica of the Eiffel Tower? I just think that areas of PKI like I-Street and Rivertown have some of the best feelings to them... wouldn't sacrifice that for anything. Oh well, just my two cents... Ryan

^ I totally disagree. Although Chipolet is a kind of "hit or miss" deal when it comes to most people, as in, you've either eaten there or you haven't heard of it, to my observation, most people who have eaten there are hooked. When I eat there, all I need is one burrito and a drink, and I'm a big guy so it tells you a lot about the size of their burritos. Anyway, my total is usually just over $6. If they could keep that kind of pricing and just rely on volume of sales, there would be a line out the door. Especially since their only real "ethnic" competition in food is really Mandarin Cuisine, in which although the food is decent, it's not worth the $11 you have the give up to eat there.
-
Ah, my friend, but there is one near PKI. One exit south of the Mason/PKI exit is the Fields Ertle exit. If you take that exit, then Chipolet is in the same mini mall as Home Depot. It's not exactly right next door to the park, but it's still definitely within driving range if you're looking for a good alternative.

Couldn't help but notice that on a few of them myself... DANE.
-
Hey, I don't want to stray you guys off topic, but you may or may not have noticed that Weird Al is once again sleighted to be preforming at the Timberwolf Amphitheater this August.
-
Dirty Steve and I joked that the new eatery on I-Street was going to be a Chipolet. Unfortunately, in the spirit being a theme park, they'd probably charge $11 per burrito.
-
The worst thing about it was how you always had that chopping of a helicopter over head. It gets old quickly. I'm glad it's gone.
-
Thanks for all of the kind words. I got tired of just pointing and shooting for hours on end and decided to get artistic... plus I'm sure you guys know what the park looks like anyway. I intend to bring you more photos like this in the near future. Ryan

Both Congo and WWC have their own resevoirs. I can't swear by this, but I'm pretty sure that they are either chlorinated or treated in some way (although the water doesn't necessarily smell like chlorine). They probably wouldn't be able to just use any water they wanted... that would be dangerous.

I believe that they are wooden, but you can clearly see them.. They're say, 15 or so feet into the woods on SoB... check them out now before all the trees get leaves.
